      • Yeah but i'm confused if to sell my s10 plus on gumtree for $400 and get Xiomi Mi 11 ultra with a better camera & processor.

        • YouTube search comparison, you will find S21 Ultra has better camera.

          • @GoodDealDave: Mi 11 Ultra's is by far a better camera. S21 Ultra is not even close, not even to Mi 10 Ultra.

            • @DontNeedThis: Thanks for your opinion, after youtube seaching a bit, I can't agree. My conclusion is quite opporsite. Mi 11 U is not that good in its camera from image I saw. That's my HOP.

  • I signed up for the Telstra plan at JB Hifi to get S21 instead. Now I'm cancelling my trade-up order via email to Samsung online support. Does anyone know if they accept cancellation request via email?

    • Give them a call on 1300 362 603 and ask them, they haven't answered my emails from last 3 days.

      • Their support call is closed until Monday and it may be too late to cancel it by then.

        • You can always reject the delivery even if it is sent for full refund.

    • This still works out to be a better deal than JB. No contract and you can claim the full cost back as tax (potentially).

      • How?. The invoice copy shows only the paid amount

        • Correct. Didn't your CA ever teach you to NOT chase tax dollars? Better to pay, say, $400 for a phone and claim $400 rather than sign up for a plan that costs $1,000 and chase a % of that.

  • will do later

    • What?

  • How do the customers send their old phones to them after they received the new phones? I am expecting to receive an email which including all the shipping instruction from Samsung. Am I right?

    Cheers and Happy Easter!

    • +1

      yes, email

    • +1

email from Asurion to print or show the label to auspost.

      • I guess they forgot to send me one since I have received the new phone last Tuesday. I might get lucky that they forgot about it totally. lol

        • +3

They may forgot the email but they will not forget the charge back 😂

          • @superforever: so true…

            • @bruce1202: Your original Q remains for those of us who are still waiting for the (or any) email from Asurion.

How do the customers send their old phones to them after they received the new phones?

And yes we have rung and been told a system update at Samsung has failed to yet list many phones (including mine) as delivered when if fact they have been delivered.

  • i chose phantom gold and everything went smooth got the trade up code and everything , press continue " sorry , an error occured " ?????

    help

    • It has been mentioned on the original post (see below).

If you received this error with the trade code "Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment"

As mentioned in the last deal, you have to enter your credit card details first before the code will work online.

  • For those still pursuing the $200 voucher the Samsung Agent said they have removed stacking of the vouchers with the signup bonus as well as the Trade in… o well.

    • Broden

    • So stacking the $200 and $50 voucher has been removed.
What about just stacking the $200 voucher is that still possible do you know?

      • +2

trade in OR $200, not both anymore

      • If you read through the threads, you'll see that it was stopped on 31st March.

  • Anyone having this appear when taking a photo on the samsung it says refining picture and it would go away after a few seconds. What's causing this? And does anyone know how to stop it?

    • not sure if its the same as my other phones but it normally happens when you are doing a HDR or high quality photo and its rendering / saving it.

You probably just have to change the settings

re: S21 I havent opened mine yet sorry but will report back once I do

      • Thanks i turn off auto hdr but still showing the same problem just want to see if other people are experiencing the same thing.

        • Mine is blurry at first and then it takes a second to load to sharpen it up, not sure if I enabled my HDR though so that could be it..

  • Why is Samsung use international version for the display in JB HiFi?

    • Why does it matter? They probably got sent generic display units before the Australian version was being produced.

      • Because it could confuse peoples. Display unit show dual sim slot, but when you buy it, it only have one sim slot and esim.

        • for some reason australia hides what phones are dual sim and also tries to sell only 1 sim phones even if they are normally dual sim.

If you go to JB Hifi for example they cannot actually even tell easily which phones are dual sim as its not mentioned and they have to go look it up

Whereas in every other country, dual sim is highly sought after and probably the norm now

    • I think this might be due to the phone being in 'demo' or 'retail' mode. I think Samsung might just make the same software for retail/demo mode.

  • Hi - I remembered I read somewhere about the steps to perform data transfer to new S21 - incl. the photos; but I can't seem to locate it.

What are the best ways to do the back up and transfer to new phone - from Samsung S8+ to S21

    Thanks

    • Switch

    • +1

      Samsung Smart Switch

      • I used Samsung Smart Switch as well. It took 25 minutes to transfer everything from my OnePlus 6 to S21 Ultra. Even the apps are copied/installed on the new phone.

Though I had to sign in each app etc from scratch. Still a big improvement from previous days.

        • Do you use whatapp? If yes, does that copied across including all the chats / pic etc?

          • +1

@bluebluebird: No it didn't, but whatsapp backup feature worked. Make sure its fully backed up on the old phone before opening whatsapp on the new phone.

        • how are you finding the change

I was debating about the oneplus 9 or oneplus 9 pro

Other phones I would like to try is Mi 11 and Huawei P50

          • +1

@AussieMark: I am loving the camera + speed experience on S21 Ultra.

  • So what's the latest update with ppl keeping their old phones?

    • +2

I'm sending my old s20 back. Haven't been able to so far because of the long weekend. I basically got to upgrade to the newest phone for $184 + I got a 256GB version vs my old 128GB. I also don't want to get the $500 bonus trade-in charged to my card.

    • Well i have got one reminder to send my phone in next 7 days to avoid getting charged non-return fee.

      • A non return fee only? Or the promotion bonus?

        • Says non return fee.

Does not mention anything about promotion bonus like the original email that was with attached return label.

          • @BinnyC: Did the original email mention anything re the bonus? I don't see anything like that in my original email. Care to share a screenshot?

            • +1

@U30004: No original email also did not say anything about bonus.

      • When did you place your order and when did you get a reminder?

  • Am i supposed to get some kind of email regarding returning old phone? Been nearly a week now and nothing.

    • Yes, but quite a few people are not getting the e-mail. We don't know what's going on… Some guesses:

      1. Order status is still in dispatched status. For some reason, some orders are not being updated to delivered status (despite StarTrack updated it to delivered status ages ago). Under such condition, to Samsung's system, officially, the item is still on its way to you, hence that e-mail is not sent. This one is my guess.
      2. One Samsung CSR indicated there was a system migration, leading to order status not being updated. Once the system migration finishes, things will be back to normal. However, that doesn't explain an OZBer didn't receive an e-mail prior to the so called system migration.
      3. Some Samsung CSRs insist people will get a satchel posted to them. However, if we don't get that satchel within 7 days, contact Asurion.

Reality: need to wait for 7 days to see if that reminder e-mail (to send the phone back) gets sent. It's unclear whether that e-mail will have a copy of the label (doubtful). Also, Asurion has been a pain to deal with (zero response from them).

      • +5

Adding to this, I was one of the earlier orders with the previous EPP trade in for $300 + phone value. I sent in trade in phone after about 10 days (value $15) but it failed the physical OK by Asurion. Old phone arrived with them March 27. Took them 2 days to inspect the phone / get the email saying it was no good. 3 hours after receiving the email from Asurion charge back on the credit card of ONLY $15. 1 week on an still no further charge or communication from Samsung. Unsure if this still applies to no send ins, but I suspect it would be the same scenario if I had not sent in the phone, just the charge back might have taken them a bit longer.

        • do you wish you kept the phone or no?

          • @AussieMark: No, it had been sitting in a drawer for ages so happy to let it go.

        • So did you get the old phone back?

          • +1

@sirbangforbuck: I haven't heard from them, and tbh for $15 not going to chase it. Not sure why it failed though - that part is concerning. Minor scuffs etc but decent condition for a phone with 2 years use. If I did get charged back the $300 bonus I would take them on. I suspect they will just leave it at that and not return the phone.

            • @dcs29: Hopefully not mate. Keep us informed as one new Ozbargainer claimed to getting charged $500 bonus back after 3 days of first non return fee charge.

        • +2

thanks for the update mate, let's hope Samsung don't charge you the $300 bonus

        • Did they mention anything about return of your original device while charging you? Can we ask them to return the device if they are charging us back?
For me, its a Note10+ 256gb, I don't want them to keep my device if they charge me back $310 trade-in value.

          • @kstttt: No it is just a generic email. I suggest if you are concerned contact them and ask if you would get your device back. Here is the contents of the email.

            Hi xxxx

Thank you for recently placing a Samsung Trade-Up order. After inspecting your original device, our team has determined its physical condition doesn’t match the details entered when you completed your Trade-Up.

As stated in the agreed Samsung Trade-Up terms and conditions, we will be charging your nominated credit card $15.

            Samsung Trade ID xxxx

            Original device xxxx

            Original device IMEI xxxx

If you have any further inquiries about Samsung Trade-Up, please email us.

        • A mate just got charged $135 for his phone today because the physical condition wasn't what was declared. They didn't mention what failed the test. So he called Samsung up, and they were surprised that asurion sent him a generic email, and not mention what made them say that the phone failed the test. So he's chasing up on it with asurion, on what was wrong with it. He wants his s9 back if it did fail those tests, and is now valued at 0. His phone was in good condition, I mean, it looks used. But no dents or cracks, scratches on screen or anything. So he was surprised it failed their tests. He only hopes it didn't get damaged during transit.

          • @khaez: What about $500 promotion?

            • @BinnyC: Nothing yet regarding $500 promotion. He was charged yesterday, so he's waiting the next few days if Samsung contacts him regards the promotion. He's hoping he doesn't get charge for that.

          • @khaez: Really? Might not be worth sending in my phone and sell it privately.

  • Can you still stack with $50 code?

    • Yes, $50 still works, just not the $200

  • 23 March - ordered

25 March - received phone and email from Asurion with postage label

26 March - contacted Samsung to return unopened device and emailed Asurion to ensure I won't get charged the non return fee

29 March - return label received from Samsung, dropped off at post office

30 March - emailed Asurion again because I didn't receive a response or acknowledgement email

1 April - reminder email from Asurion to return my device or I will be charged fee in 7 days, sent another email to Asurion with tracking number to show that the unopened device has reached Samsung.

6 April - contacted Samsung to check if they advise Asurion of my return, was told to email Asurion.

Is anyone else in a similar situation? I'm hoping I don't get charged this Thursday for not returning my device as I cancelled my Samsung order. Yes I can put in a dispute with my bank but it's going to be a hassle.

I reordered the same device, $250 cheaper than my original order. I will be sending my old device to Asurion for the second order.

    • Yes, same situation for me. Got the reminder email from asurion yesterday even though my original order has already been returned to Samsung. Return hasn’t been finalised yet on Samsung’s end though as I’m yet to receive my refund. I have emailed Asurion to advise of the situation but no response for more then a week

Not sure what else we can do

      • -5

        Send them empty bag

I blew some kisses into a box then wrote a nice note

      • +1

I just got an email saying that if I don't send it in the next 48 hours, i will be charged. Checked my credit card and I've already been charged. Looks like I'll have to open a dispute. Emailed Asurion, but doubt I'll get a response

        • +1

Worth a shot.. Sounds like you did everything by the book. Btw how much were you charged? Just the trade up amount or trade up plus the promo amounts?

          • @monstermash: Some said even if they charge back both will be two transactions. One from Asurion and one from Samsung.

I just got an email saying that if I don't send it in the next 48 hours, i will be charged

First email from Asurion or second?

          • @monstermash: Just the trade up amount. IF $500 is charged through Samsung, I won't be charged that as i returned my order unopened within 14 days and getting a refund. No reason for me to be charged the trade up discount as I legitimately cancelled my order and that's why i won't send in my old phone.

            • @ILIKEMANGOES: i contacted Samsung again just now, not much progress. Refund on the original return can take unto 30 days but in regards to the trade in, they are saying we shouldn't get charged. I mentioned that i had emailed Asurion to say the order had been cancelled but all they could say is that if Asurion charges the trade in amount to email them again or call Samsung (which seems pointless as there doesn't seem to be any co-operation between Samsung & Asurion)

whole thing is giving me a headache, say what you will about Apple but their customer support is so much better

              • @spade16: speaking to Samsung i found the refund issue is with AusPost. i rejected delivery which i later found out is up to 30 days for refund, the quickest refund process is accepting and returning the device which is within 10 business days.

AusPost only 'Express' ship to the customer but once it goes back into the return basket it goes back to standard shipping, then it sits in a Company return batch (Samsung in this case) and they send bulk at any time within 1-3 weeks. I ended up calling AusPost after a week of it sitting in their warehouse and then things got moving thereafter. It's still with AusPost but at least it's at the airport now

                • @ExtraSalt: I accepted delivery and sent back for a refund with a return slip they emailed me. I was also advised that it would take up to 30 days for the refund. Status on my account is still 'return requested'. It's not any quicker to accept and return the device.

                  • @ILIKEMANGOES: I'm in the same boat, Asurion hasn't replied to my emails. Btw did Samsung give you a return slip to include in the box? I only received an AusPost eConnote label which I attached to the outside of the box. Been a few days since I sent it back, hoping it won't take 30 days to receive a refund…

  • does anyone know if Samsung uses e-commerce to send the phone? I got a tracking number added to my account with e-commerce (StarTrack). But my Samsung account still says it's being prepared. TIA

    • +1

Yup that sounds right. They must have just bulk printed the shipping information for today's shipments. It will be picked up from Samsung today for delivery.

    • confirmed. just got an sms from Samsung with the tracking number.

    • +1

Yes, placed the order on 30 March, Finally ETA is 7 April confirmed by star track.

      • +1

        Received the new phone.

        • Lucky you! I am still waiting for it. not sure if I will get it today or tomorrow. I'm in NQ.

  • my s7 has intermittent issue of powering up some times only other than that its in good condition. should i take the risk and post it in ? what if they determine its faulty will they simply charge my card $10? will they keep the old s7 phone or return it back to me? would i be better off just holding onto the s7 and letting them charge my card the $10?

    • following, would like to know I have a perfectly working s7 would rather keep it and get charged $15

      • I won't risk it for $15 in that case they charge you back $500

  • This deal will end before anyone can confirm if the 500 will or won't be charged.
My phone charges via most of the time, not all chargers tho…
    It charges fine wirelessly..

Is it worth the risk? probably not
