You need to have active plan with Telstra to get this without plan.

Does having a prepaid Boost connection work..

      • +3

Nope. You need to attach this to a Telstra monthly service. Unsure if you can sign up for a month then pay out the device at the cheaper price.

        • I would like to know this too, doesn't seem to be much in the T&C for this deal

          • +2

@beaker: From how I interpret it, I'd say you'd have to pay out the full RRP price if you cancel early. From their site it's listed as a 'Monthly Discount' for the device and says 'Max Discount of $750 when you stay connected for xx months'. Anyway, my wife has had an ongoing Telstra monthly plan (I've tried to convince her to change to boost in the past) and was interested in this for the improved camera over her S22. Signed up for the Pro pink 256gb model last night and will end up about $1000 as she had some Telstra points to use. Pretty hard to say no to that. Will trade in her S22 for about $300 so works out pretty well in the end.

            • @zonarhd: Not sure if you're better off at trading it with JB hifi to get $400 discount on Pixel + $350 jb gift card for later use.

      • +1

No. I have boost prepaid connection hence tried to checkout but it needs Telstra monthly connection.

  • I take it these would be locked to Telstra?

    • +2

No Telstra sold Pixel devices are network/SIM locked.

      • +2

No, Telstra sold Pixel devices are network/SIM locked.

(actually I don't know but golly the comma really changes the meaning there)

        • +3

          No, Money down.

        • +1

Works on contingency, no money down

          EDIT: damn beaten

Will this work with jbhifi plan?

    • You need a new plan to continue
Your current plan can’t be used as we no longer offer it.

I'm paying $35 per month with an old JBhifi plan and it doesn't allow me :/

  • Not a bad price for the Pixel 9 given I'm already on a Telstra month-to-month plan, but not sure if I need another phone right now :)

    • You can sign up anyway and I will help you out by using the phone on your behalf.

  • +4

Wow, Telstra's month to month plans are outrageously expensive :O

    • +3

      4.. same as apple iphone

    • As opposed to which brand?

  • ok so dumb question here. This is purely a payment plan for the phone itself. You need to have an existing telstra plan to take this up so costs would be both this phone plan and then a telstra plan on top?

    • -1

Yes. You can continue with phone plan - it could be SIM starter kit or any other plan.
However, I'm not sure if you're required to stay on it for the duration of phone payment plan

      • Can it be a data share sim?

  • +6

Is this a deal? If you think that $65/month is a good price basic sim plan, you haven't shopped around much (or looked at pre-paid)

    • +1

You could start with Telstra SIM starter kit, that gives you Telstra account, and then just add this phone to your account.

      • is that confirmed? the promotion says month-to-month plan, the lowest of which is 65/mo

        • +5

Dont think sim starter kit works, I just tried with starter kit with just activating sim card, bud did not add any credit.
When I try to add the phone, it says you have no eligible service.
          Any one has anything otherwise?

      • No, you need a month-to-month non-prepaid plan (i.e. a "SIM Only" plan)

        • Oh I see. Can I sign up for a monthly plan and then add this phone plan. And cancel the mobile plan? Any idea?

You can also price match with Vodafone and trade in a device until tomorrow with the pixels
On the fold with trading in a s22 ultra comes down to 28 per month
They also have $5 off there plans per month

    • I did that today and was a pain.

First the Vodafone guys in store tried to ignore the Telstra deal saying that they can't see it (?).

Then after some convincing they miraculously saw the deal on the Telstra site but told me that the Vodafone back office people (who ever that might be) still had to approve the price match AFTER I purchased the phone. So essentially if not approved I would have to pay full price over 24 month (again… ??).

After a little debate and letting them know that this back office approval nonsense makes zero sense they reluctantly agreed to issue a signed letter that the Telstra price match is approved in store by the manager.

After all that, the sales guy conveniently disappeared in the back for a good 20 minutes doing god knows what and let us wait.

It was a long and weird process and I'm not sure if I will do that price matching thing again with Vodafone.

Now, the reduced price is nowhere to be seen on my account and the phone shows the full monthly price. I'm sure the run around will continue after my next billing cycle.

My suggestion: ensure to get a written confirmation from Vodafone on the reduced price - it terribly feels like they are doing anything in the books to wiggle out of that.

      • That bad you got a bad rep. Mine were fantastic applied everything straight away with no issues. I guess like everywhere it's luck of the draw who you get servicing you.

I was tossing up between the fold at 28 per month and the pro 256 at 7 per month

They also did a deal on the galaxy ultra watch nocking it down a fair bit in a bundle

        • Looks like I was just unlucky regarding the person trying up set this up.

Did you get any sort of confirmation of the reduced monthly price from them?

  • get the jb deal much better , cancel the plan and buy a cheaper prepaid plan

    • Which JB deal? The one posted earlier shows as expired.

    • It is only for pro and not for pro xl

  • +1

For those wanting to claim on tax/salary sacrifice: I confirmed yesterday in store that the invoice will show the discounted price + a credit for that price. The rep also confirmed that people had purchased here on holiday and then sucessfully claimed the discounted amount on Tourist Refund Scheme.

    • Oh curious - so even if you're paying it back over a year, you get an invoice for the full (discounted) amount?

  • What happens if you cancel the plan straightaway
