I'd expect at least OMLED for that price.

seen it on amazon for 200aud

Oof.. $299 for a cpu cooler.. Yeah na..

    • It costs more than my cpu….

      • Yeah.. given this past deal that had an i7-10700KF for $335.. $299 for a cooler seems nuts.

        • +1

In most cases air cooler is perfectly fine and even better. Actually if you don't know why you need AIO let alone AIO with LCD you don't really need this.

          • @klownvandamn: Well yeah, theres a diminishing return in terms of performance and at $299, you're definitely not buying it for the performance.

          • @klownvandamn: I suppose AIO is easier to clean than those massive heatsink etc.

            • @leznix: Literally the only reason I buy them over an air cooler haha

Arctic liquid freezer II 280mm and EK's 280mm AIO can both be had for $150-$200 and perform better than this. Even cheaper for the 240mm versions of these which will still cool any consumer chip easily…
Personally I think NZXT AIO's are overpriced, but ultimately buying this is an aesthetic choice, so, ¯_(ツ)_/

    • you're buying this for the screen

lmao a cooler the same if not more expensive as cpu wtf. get (profanity)

  • +1

It's a bargain in the sense that you are specifically after an NZXT Z series cooler. Otherwise, it really has no advantages in the market at this price other than the LCD screen.

    • Arctic 280/360/420 are cheaper and perform better. No LCD or RGB.
    • EK AIO 360 Basic is cheaper and performs better. Again no LCD or RGB.
    • EK AIO 280/360 are cheaper and perform better. You lose the LCD but get RGB.

Personally I think you'd really have to want that LCD screen for whatever reason. Otherwise, there's just too many good options at about $160 at the moment.

  • Guys, I am currently using a cheap Cougar Aqua 280mm AIO paired with 5800x on my Sliger case. Its the only one that is compatible with that case. The other one is Kraken Z63 (this posting). Will I get any thermal improvement moving to the Z63.

My CPU is behaving nicely now that we have access to Curve Optimiser. Its doing 5GHz on single/dual core loads at the moment. Idle is about 35-40C (depending on ambient) and max load is about 88-90C. During gaming, it hovers no higher than 70C.

    • Which Sliger case?
I'd be surprised if it fits Z63 and nothing else.
Also it's likely only going to be a minimal improvement over your current AIO.

      Edit: I'm assuming it's the SM580?
If so, it is surprisingly restrictive.
This chart has the EK 280 listed as possible, but 'difficult' along with a bunch of the Corsair ones.
The cooler master ML280 seems to fit and is much cheaper than this deal, but I'm not sure how it performs.
      https://www.reddit.com/r/sliger/comments/kd3uuc/sliger_compa…

      • Yes, I have the SM580 (sorry, should have mentioned it). Sliger now offers a generic Asetek 680LS that can be ordered together but the option wasn't available when I ordered mine.

I am also thinking it may not be worth $299 for minimal improvement if at all. The Cougar Aqua 280 is 'okay' and the one thing I like is the driverless nature of the product. I did upgraded the fans to Corsair ML fans and have them controlled by the motherboard (which monitors the CPU).

      • I got the cool master ml280 with a 3950x, never went over 70 degrees when gaming cost me like $60 too

I think you guys are forgetting the difference between a need and a want
