Looks like Amazon have made more 'refurbished' units of the Logitech Revue available, as was the case here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/59780

USD $79.99 + ~$15 delivery is a good price for this unit. I had a play with a dev machine at a Google conference after the Android 3.1 update had been pushed and it's improved markedly.

You won't get the Netflix etc. without a VPN tunnel on your router, but even as a competitor to WD Live and Apple TV etc, it's pretty good.

  • Good price. Have no real use for it but soooo tempted.

new google tv boxes are around the corner. wait till tomm for CES

They used to sell new units for $99 recently. Looks like they increased their prices. Weird.

err no these were $99(new)+ postage now $79(refurb)+ postage.

That would be a price decrease.

      • They now sell new ones for $139 instead of $99…

  • thats because they had a firmware update so added features, boosted interest and as a result price :P

  • so tempted but no real use of it, lardy got 2 wdtv just sitting here, not using, i like to use the htpc directly than stream through my wdtv. The attractive part of the revue is the android and the keyboard with the mouse pad, but thats a big ++ compared to wdtv

  • Would this come with Google TV 2.0? Can this record a show to a connected hard drive if I feed the output of my HD Set Top Box into this through HDMI?

  • Yeah, not really worth it - these won't be upgraded to Google TV 2.0, but will be upgradeable to Honeycomb, if the refurbished units aren't already.

  • Quick search seems to indicate you can upgrade these to Google TV 2.0? Unless theres another version of the Revue out

The Google TV 2.0 and Honeycomb updates are the same thing. The Revue got the update.

  • I ordered it last Dec.31 .It should arrive Jan. 16-19. This thing is worth it for the keyboard alone. Get a logitech unifying receiver and you have the perfect keyboard for an HTPC. I'll post how it turns out when it comes

    • $80 for a the keyboard alone is pretty expensive no?

      • I was originally thinking of getting this to use as a keyboard for my HTPC last year, but ended up spending $160 on a Logitech Dinovo. Best keyboard ever!

    • I've already been using the kbd for HTPC for a few months. Its good, but not great.

Its good because it had dedicated media keys which mostly work. Its not great because its missing windows keys since its an android kbd. There is no right click mouse button, no touchpad-click, and no touchpad scroll. And logitech don't provide windows support for this keyboard so you can't remap keys etc.

Logitech do a similar windows based k400 kbd now for like 50 bux, but it doesn't have dedicated media buttons.

We really need a combination of the two for decent HTPC use.

  • Read that TVs in the near future will have this integrated.

Guessing Apple will also launch their own intergrated TVs+ Apple TV.

    • They will but for now they are a ripoff. And it does not make sense if you have a perfectly good TV and buy a new one just for the smart functions. Most of the content are still region locked anyway,

  • Will this work with Australia FTA DVB TV? Can you train it to use a generic HD_STB?

  • Yes… It has a HDMI input for a STB and it overlays its GTV GUI onto this, also has a PIP function and the keyboard has a harmony database lookup so you can map your STB IR codes….

    • Thanks, found the Harmony database lookup here: http://myremotesetup.com/EasyZapper/New/Main.asp

But no Australian scheduling data, except manually viewing the EPG page from the STB.
No ABC iView etc. And badly locked down, so don't expect 3rd party fixes.

  • Can it handle 1080P?

  • Can anyone provide an Australian perspective Revue review?

    • I bought one in November, and got the upgrade to Honeycomb a few weeks back (which really adds to it IMHO).

      • The TV integration doesn't work here, nor does Netflix/Amazon/etc (unless you setup a VPN to the US), but YouTube/Vimeo/etc work very well. There's no tuner or PVR; it's a network streamer.
      • The hardware is nice, and I can turn on & control my amp & TV through the Revue (has Harmony IR blasters), even via my phone & tablet.
      • It streams media from my network (wired & wifi) via DLNA (no Renderer profile [push support] by default, but there are apps for that now).
      • Format support is decent, plays back 1080p MKVs quite nicely, but unfortunately won't play DTS at all, so it's not a full replacement for my Astone streamer yet :-/ That said, it's much faster and nicer to use than the Astone's crappy UI, so I use it where I can. If you use a DLNA server that supports on-the-fly transcoding of DTS to AC3/AAC, then you're in business.
      • The standard Logitech Media Player has given me nothing but grief :-( But now I have the Market, so I downloaded a GTV Player app which was excellent, much faster & more reliable, and would play back files from Windows shares directly.
      • Some other really nice apps on the Market - IMDB is great, for example, and Maps is fun/useful.
      • I personally think it's a bargain. It may not meet all your needs out of the box, but there are many apps you can download to help that, and many more coming.
  • Can this play RMVB ( real player) videos?
also can you plug in a usb or a external hdd into the usb and stream from it?

    • Dunno about Real support, but it has USB ports and will play from external HDD/flashdrives.

      • i have just read. not working for real media.
ohwell. i was going to plug my ps3 into it and have google while playing ps3.

  • Hey guys while Revue isn't officially supported in this region, there is a Forum on logitech.com that may have some useful info and you can probably ask questions there too, here is the link; http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Smart-TV/ct-p/cat-smart-tv
