Kogan is a great brand, just not advertised as much.
Cheap as all get out, and its ALL AUSSIE!

      • +8

All aussie? I wouldn't class something produced in China as All Australian..

  • i think the base toshiba 42" is less than this (see the forum)

    • That's a 32 inch not 42 inch?

  • ohh nice you could use the 50/100 dollar gift card as well to bring it down another 50 yeah?

shame it takes 48 hours to deliver… good for those who already have one though…

    • +2

      I doubt it.

Not valid in conjunction with any other offer (including Frugal Friday offers, Special offers, LivePrice offers and products marked as "On Sale") and not redeemable for cash

  • +1

Oh Kogan, when will you release one that is network enabled! if you already have the PVR built in!

in other words Mr Kogan is saying "you pay me today and i'll ship you the tv sometime in April…when tv prices have come down even more…if there's any stock left…if i feel like it"! lol! i have no doubts that from now til April there WILL be a better offer on ozb and there won't be a 4 month wait!

Not a bargain… Can pick up a 40" LCD 'house brand' for approx this price anywhere these days.

In fact, DSE are doing their 42" for $399 incl. delivery.

I believe you can walk into JB Hifi to get Soniq's for cheaper than this price just by asking.

Yeah, but do they have Samsung panels?
      No.
This is a high quality television, unlike those crappy brands.

      • +2

There was a post somewhere about 2nd rate brands using panels rejected by Tier 1 quality control ..

        • +1

Link it or this story remains an urban myth? :p

        • +1

As my Kogan LCD panel died after only 2 hours I would agree with this, no way Samsung's quality control is that bad !

      • +4

The majority use LG and Samsung Panels, they still don't look anywhere as good as the genuine branded products the majority of the time. Its not actually the panels that make the biggest difference in the picture quality on these units, it's is the processing power and chip of the TV.

        • +5

High Quality? I don't even perceive Kogan as a Tier 1 or Tier 2 brand.

I see Kogan as a 3rd Tier Brand.

Tier 1. Being the Panasonics, Sonys, LGs and Samsungs…
Tier 2. Being the Sanyos and the Teacs
Tier 3. Being the 'House Brands' - and that's where Kogan sits.

        • +1

Agree with Multi. My cheapo Sanyo is far above the four Kogans I've ever watched.

  • +1

If Samsung panels are so good why not just get a Samsung and have Samsung everything? Or are panels the only good part of a Samsung?

    • +2

Samsung have a very high quality picture, also a very good internet TV function that works.

Buying a Kogan TV would be a disapointment. As a poster above, hard to compare a Kogan to a Samsung.

      • In your opinion is samsung internet tv function superior to lg? I'm just wondering as I'm thinking of getting the lg65 led. Main reason in getting over Samsung is passive 3d. I don't like the heavy glasses or the flicker. But I will be paying a premium for this when the cheapest I have seen the lg is 3211.

        • +2

          Go the LG passive.

        • +1

Dont know much about LG, but they do seem to also have a good internet TV function. Plex is able to be installed from the menu. Samsung and Sony support ABC iView, not sure if LG does.

The LG is probably a good TV to get.

  • +1

Agree, anything KOGAN is a disapointment. Don't be fooled by the false logic of using other companies panels.
Still is a third tier product.

  • +2

Kogan is always advertised as being Aussie and also having lower prices than competitors as they supposedly have no middlemen distributers, but its all nonsense advertising. The end result is a cheap and nasty electronics product with a Kogan brand stuck on. The supposedly low prices are only low as they only sell online. This 42' TV is another example of Kogans advertising designed to fool customers with the Samsung panel, and the one day deal probably ensures a few sales.

The no middlemen claim is questionable, just how many middle men are there with top brand manufacturers?

Kogan's products never look like a good deal.

I've got one of these TV's, I got it just before Xmas and the LCD died after 2hrs use, obviously the quality control is crap.

Then it took me 2 days and about 10 emails to arrange for it's return. I also rang their customer service 3 times but NEVER got thru to a person, the system hangs up on you after 5 mins on hold. I finally got some satisfaction by emailing [email protected]. My replacement TV didn't arrive until well after new year.

I bought the extra 5yr warranty, somehow I think I'm going to need it :(

That said the second TV works well and also does 1920x1020 VGA input really well…
