6530
5%Promotion

Heard on the radio this morning, that for three days only (not sure when it started), Woolworths are offering 5% off WISH gift cards.

Just go to the Woolworths website and click the gift cards link, and the 5% off will be deducted upon checkout.

  • Use incognito mode if you get a "Bad Request" error.
  • Use "5% Promotion" if the code doesn't automatically come up.

PBKAC. No issues here on 3 different browsers.

It serves a bad cookie. Need to use incognito.

    • First lot of gift cards went through fine but when I went through the second time I got the "400 Bad Request" error message. Switched to "incognito" mode and no problems.

Also when the gift cards arrived and I clicked on the view/download the gift cards I got the "400 Bad Request", so I needed to copy the hyperlink and open up an "incognito" browsing session to get around it.

Don't forget that if you are a Seniors Card holder that you can get 5% off any Woolies e-Wish card anytime.

      • Is that only for NSW ? I am in SA and can't find it mentioned anywhere.

        • NSW only. Other states too lazy to negotiate presumably.

Totes awesome tutes! Happy days! :-) A worthy first post.

Just bought one yesterday with 4% off using nrma blue, and of course I forgot to spend $100 to get my 3000 points (spent $80)

    /rant.

ETA, doesn't seem to be working, there must be a code.

    • How u get 4%. Its only 3% for wish card…

  • can you use woolworth wish card to pay for woolworth mobile credit or recharge etc?

    • I've used Wish cards to pay for recharges bought in store. But I don't think eg. the 365-day recharges are available in store.

      • thank you i shall take a look when i go in store this weekend cheers

  • Not seeing a discount…

        Edit: works perfectly. Thanks OP

  • i saw the promo, the code was 5% promotion and i added a $500 E-giftcard to cart and showed $25 discount. Now the website has crashed

Dude nice, got it straight away. Goes well with the recent ANZ card for a little bit of that spend.

    • +3

Did that once……all $3000…..the fraud protection team rang me….all good they put it through.

      • lol, that's a lot of groceries! I reckon I only get through $300 a month or so with Woolworths group. At least you know the fraud team is paying attention :)

        • +1

          They have no expiry date.

        • It was in the good old “free money” days……maybe 10% off, and when you could buy gift cards with gift cards.

          • @Coops1: Want free things from free things.

  • Thanks OP

  • Is there a way to consolidate gift cards, have a few with small balances.

    • +6

No, just when you go to the checkout in woolies, there's Gift Card (split payment)

You can type however much you want to deduct from the next gift card

Will help you drain the residual balances for your egift

      • +2

Yep easy to do….but self checkout when you have some extra time and it’s not busy.

        • +2

I'd rather just use them in an online C&C, its a lot easier than fiddling with the exact balances.

          • +7

@ATangk: Coles checkout system is better. You use gift card (not split payment), it then declines, says $xx.xx left, then you say yes and enter your pin again.
Woolies, you have to split yourself (at least last time I tried).

            • +2

@johnmelb: The coles checkout system cant beat the WW money app… You already know exactly how much you have, rather than the coles which makes the decline sound and makes you look dodgy. Scan the barcode works everytime.

              • +2

@ATangk: Scan the barcode is very machine dependent, I've come across many that just won't scan them.

                • @ely: Make your screen brighter

                  • +1

@spaceflight: Yeah, bright screen, but some checkouts don't scan well; just enter the number starting with 555 to the end, always works if you key correctly.

                  • @spaceflight: The app automatically bumps the screen brightness up - it's not that, it's just that some machines don't scan them well. Not a big deal, I just punch in the number when it happens.

                • +1

@ely: I find that if you pinch the barcode to make it smaller on the screen, the checkouts generally have a much easier time scanning the barcode. But I’ve found that older registers have a harder time scanning barcodes on a screen anyway…

            • @johnmelb: Yeah, that's one area where Coles is miles better.

I sometimes forget that this doesn't work for Woolies, and try the same method, and the self-checkout then begins flashing red & asking for an attendant.

              • @vikvance: Yesterday I had $4.30 left on a card and tried to buy $4.32 — WW, simply declined, didn't tell me the balance. A bit of a pain, but it's easy enough to check the balances online at my leisure.

                • @affinity: Woolworths Money app for tracking gift cards, shows you the balance at the same time it shows you the number and pin, and where you access the barcode.

    • Order and pay online for click and collect perhaps

  • +1

Thanks OP, 5% was automatically applied at the checkout

  • $150 min spend

  • +1

    try other browsers works fine
buy $263.16 if you have coles $250 gift cards left to make it $250 at checkout.

  • Can you no longer get 5% off Wish Cards with Cashrewards?

    • +6

      Not for ages mate…

      • Ha! Haven't tried for about 9 months - good to know thanks!

      • +2

still available on some work benefit platforms.

        • thank you for mentioning. i checked my work benefits and have a 4% off offer. Previously i was using 5% from shopback but when it ended i didnt think of checking my work benefits so thanks.

          • @Frankenbeanie: Woolworth dropped it to 4* a few months ago without warning and so that is why 5% is relatively exciting to see again. We used to get it for 5% at RACV etc.
EDIT: Hope I'm not mixing this up with Coles.

    • +1

That promo finished 4 months ago as of tomorrow.

  • -2

Hi OP, just wondering if you have any JBHIFI giftcards that you see? thanks mate

  • Price match @ Cashrweards/Shopback 🤣🤣🤣

  • +9

Woolworths realised that they do not need CR to sell GF with 5% discount

    • works for me :)

    • +1

Coz many just bought $5 through CR, no proft to make.

    • Exactly what I thought. People were taking it for granted and now this sounds like a deal 😀

    • CR has a large customer base, woolworth even if they offered it couldn't drive traffic towards it.

also ww don't want to sell to general people, want to target baragin hunter demo

      • If it is the case why WW stopped selling GF through CR then?
        Does not make sense.

        • they already milked the cow

        • They don't want to sell them to "professionals" anymore. Can still get them through RACV.

  • +3

Thanks for the heads up, grabbed 2k worth.

  • Thanks op, got $350 worth <3 not sure if i should buy more >.>

  • Are these gift cards still card number and pin, or barcode? I always found it way too tedious to put the card number in

    • +2

You can also scan a barcode within the Woolworths money app. Very easy these days.

      • Could you point out where to display a bar code in woolworths app to show egift card's bar code you purchased ? I cannot seem to find the option. Only using the egift card I received from email every time. Not the woolworths mobile app.

        • +2

Android Woolworths money app. Need to have the card added, can be added automatically direct from email. Has a green, show barcode click link at bottom of gift card details on the app

          • @Coops1: Yes I do use woolworths mobile app. It has barcode for 'eneryday rewards' card but not egift card bar code.
Transactions are recorded in woolworths 'rewards' mobile app (orange icon), not woolworths mobile app. Which I'm using it.

            • @zenzen: The app is called "Woolworths Money"

          • @Coops1: Hummm
Just received a egift card I purchased.
Email doesn't have any automatic link to add egift card to woolworths app.
The egift card link page opened by a browser has gift card number and pin only. Again there is no link to add automatic to woolworths Mobile app either. What am I overlooking?

    • Depends where you're using it. Woolworths mostly has the option to scan them now. Not sure about other shops.

    • +1

      Yes and no

Woolies egift card system now lets you scan the card at the checkout (money app auto-generated a barcode for scanning

Still need to put in the PIN

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks OP!

  • Thanks mate, bought heaps. Wife will use for groceries

  • +2

grabbed $1k. Wish cards are way better than the branded ones.

  • +2

Nice one. stacked as handy at EG petrol stations. Wish card are now available for 3% but 2% extra is good.

  • Thank you!

  • mmm anyone getting payment issues?

    ahh all good now!

  • +2

    bought 5x $500, thanks.

  • -1

I wish woolworths further improve egift card payment option to ask if I want to use all balance left without specifying the amount rather 'transaction declined' at self checkout, which happens when egift card balance is less than the charged amount. You need a staff assistant to confirm to go back to another payment transaction.
I think Coles self checkout terminal is better than woollies in terms of this.

    • +4

Don't you use the Woolworth Money app? I add all my gift cards to the App and it tells me all my past transactions as well as my remaining balances.
You can also use the barcode scanner instead of entering in the numbers on the keypad but to be honest some of the self checkout scanners don't seem to like scanning my mobile and can take a frustrating 30 seconds or so of angling the phone to get the scan done.

      • Yes I use woolworths mobile app. Where is the option to add egift card info in the woolworths mobile app?

        • +4

Woolworths MONEY app not Mobile app

          • +1

@Nuggets: Yes thanks that's I just found out. I need to use woolworths money app, not woolworths app. And they also have everyday rewards app as well. 🙄 I will try money app and if it's good, I'll uninstall the other two.

            • +1

@zenzen: The Money app is really just gift card type handling so I'd say keep the other apps in your phone.

      • Pinch in on the barcode screen to shrink it and it should scan easier.

        • Hmm, haven't tried shrinking it. I usually to expand. I'll try that this weekend.

          • @danielh: Yes I also shrink the barcode to be more reliable. We should all give that feedback to the app developer.

  • +1

Thanks. Just bought $2500 worth. The code was automatically put in for me and I had no issues charging it through.
EDIT: Received email confirmation 1 min later.

    • i would feel very scared buying that much, as it could get hacked
