Seems like a pretty good deal for a budget SLA printer, Voxelab seem to be Flashforge under a different name, browsing various reviews and it seems like a solid unit. Has historically been $339 according to the camels, dropped to $205 on Mach 6th and there is a $20 coupon available making it $185. Does not come with any resin, which will need to be purchased separately.

*【Powerful slicing software 】Polaris supports both CHITU Slicing Software and VoxelPrint Slicing Software. VoxelPrint can quickly sets up the support and can modify the support parameters.VoxelPrint provides a dimension compensation mechanism, effectively reduces the error caused by resin shrinkage. VoxelPrint also provides internal honeycomb support to avoid collapse. The cutting function also brings a different printing experience
*【Easy to use】Fully assembled, Out of box, leveling was a breeze. The package does not include resin, but it supports resins of 405nm. We recommend Voxelab official resins, much cheaper and very stable
*【High Precision and Resolution】Polaris uses a 2560x1440 2K HD masking LCD as to provide accurate printing with a single pixel size of 0.047mm.Polaris was able to show the model in full details
*【Excellent Performance】The printing effect of Polaris is finer than the FDM machine. Voxelab official resin is very stable and compatible with different printers
*【Warranty and Service】Voxelab provides Lifetime technical support and a one-year warranty (Except E2K LCD Screen and FEP film).Kindly Reminder: Polaris does not include resins

  • Any recommendations on where to get resin in Melbourne?

    • Buy direct from Flashforge. $22 for 500mL with free shipping.

      • Got a link to that price?
        Scratch that, found it.

        • +1

So what is the link again? I think the resin I am seeing are all $100?

how does this one compare to elegoo & photon?

Also consider the Voxelab Proxima - for $40 more you get slightly bigger build volume, faster print speed and (allegedly) longer life.

    • definitely seems worthwhile, monochromatic screen as well so it would have a longer life than the RGB screen than the polaris.

Both models don't seem to include any resin so will need to add that to cost

    • Why not get the aquila for $19 more than that? You get triple the height?

      • that's an FDM printer, the polaris & proxima are SLA.

Plenty of youtube videos to see what the purposes of each type of printer are

        • Ah right. Thanks for that. Didn't realise there were different types too!

  • I wonder what kind of printing can I do with this?

Can I print a case for GoPro's/Action cameras?

    • +1

yeah, SLA is mainly for smaller, fine detail work.

A lot of people use them to print out miniatures.

      • Thanks!

So would a 500ml bottle be enough for a few cases?

    • +1

Just so you know, resin tends to be quite brittle in general. You might have to add some flexible resin so it doesn't snap or shatter.

To be real honest if you want to print functional things, normal FDM printers are better for that purpose. Resin in my opinion is more suitable for high detail prints (such as models/minis) and non functional prototypes.

  • So cool that SLA technology has filtered down to this level… just a few years ago, formlabs was the only game in town with the $3,500 USD Form 2 printer.

  • where is the coupon code you mentioned?

    • Looks like the coupon has expired, it appeared as an option under the price
