Possibly the cheapest price for a very capable processor. Doesn't come with cooler.

But I'll still buy AMD xD

  • Wow shame I just bought a 3600

Not a major loss imo, 3600 is still plenty capable, there might be a difference in competitive 1080p games, but otherwise 3600 has enough single core performance.

I'm kinda out of the loop atm… how long until we expect Intel 11600 CPU's?
EDIT: [Uses Google] …. seems like they're coming out… now?

    • In two weeks time, hence we got this deal.

    • Yes, but the availability will be quite limited, more expensive and to top it all off, an early sample leaked and it really has very very little improvement over the equivalent 10 series, so I think this is a pretty sweet deal.

These still use the old heatsink mount standard, so you can reuse an existing cooling loop or heatsink which is good.

I happily paid $400 for this late last year. This is one of the most capable gaming CPUs on the market, leagues ahead of AMD at this price bracket (don't be fooled by the "18,000-CORE SUPER-DUPER-HYPER-RIP-SHREDDER-EXTREME" marketing guff) and only marginally behind the more expensive 10th gen i7 and i9s.

Considering the negligible role of CPU power at high resolutions, this paired with a 3070/80 might be the most sensible choice for a 4K gaming rig. Only bother with something better if you're targeting 120+ FPS in CPU intensive games (few and far between these days, Teardown is one of very few good examples) or you render media for a living.

I picked up a 3700x from Shopping Express recently, however that i7 on here looked like a tempting deal.
You always get burnt with the motherboards for the K range, paid around $120 for a B450 for the 8 core ryzen.

    • Going one way or another (Intel vs AMD) isn't always a black and white decision. Helped a mate build a PC recently and whilst GPU prices are prohibitively expensive, he was willing to use it as an office machine temporarily. As such, he had two routes:

      A. Pricier AMD CPU + cheaper MB + GT 710, or
      B. Cheaper Intel CPU + pricier MB + integrated graphics

From a cost perspective, it was neither here nor there. In the end, he went with option A because he could always flog the GT 710 at a later date and he had an upgrade path to Ryzen 5xxx without ditching the mobo.

      • Agree, I have had 3 generations of CPU's on my board, and I look forward to having the option for a 4th.

AMD owner here, this is a way better deal than a 5600x for 1440p

Great price. Probably performs similar to my 8700k which is still a capable CPU.

  • I'm thinking about the 11400F preorders for 249 might be worth a look at too.

    • $20 less? Nah I'd get this with a Z490 board.

  • this is cheap
