Some will find it expensive & ugly, some won't. I guess that's why there are so many styles of watches available at different prices.

    • +1

Ha. This is probably my favourite Citizen dive watch.

    • +3

Personal taste - I think this looks great for a dive watch. I will be using it for diving.

      • Really. You use this instead of getting a real dive computer ?

        • +1

my dive buddy dives with a g-shock, we dont go deeper than 20 meters, so no real threat from him just watching his SPG.

    • What's a cheap dive watch?

      • +3

        Orient mako.
        Orient Ray.

        • the orient has the advantage that you can also wear it daily, where as the aqualand is more a weekend / holiday watch …..not real good with business shirt cuffs.

i have a few orient watches, great value when discounted, have the kamasu in green, missed out on red, but believe if you want a pepsi they do the mako and ray ……

though this aqualand in pepsi is a real statement watch.

        • I own a bunch of Orients and they are great value but it is worth mentioning that neither of these are ISO Certified, unlike this Citizen.

When I was younger I found Citizen watches to be terribly ugly, Casio was where it was at. Now I'm older my tastes have changed, I find Citizen quite attractive.

Peoples preferences are different and tastes change. Not everyone is the same as you.

  • how does the depthmeter work?

    • pressure sensor.

    • +4

You go deep and it measures the deepness.

    • +1

there are 2 small extra hands besides hrs and minutes, one of the small dials is current depth, the other is max depth …. i had used my aqualand for diving but really you use the dive gauges / computer as they are easier to read and digital dive computers record time spent at a depths so you can work out time before next dive if deep diving.
this looks better than a fitness watch if you want to make a statement about being active and sporting.

      You know you want it!

    • If you take a deep dive you will know you want it

Thanks WatchNerd. I've been hanging out for this epic deal from last December to return. Had pretty much given up!

That's one big item ticked off my watch list.

    • I think you were the one that put me onto this. On another deal?

      • Ha, cool. Yeah, I've been hanging out for this since I realised I missed out on the previous deal in December. I'm sure I've mentioned it on other watch deals since then.

  • Definitely my favourite Citizen dive watch, and stoked to be able to add it to my collection.

Now, if StarBuy could just do an awesome deal on my favourite Seiko dive watch – King Samurai SRPF79K – I'd be a very happy camper.

    • Sorry I find it hard to see that watch (your samurai's) as attractive…. Way too simple
      …. Probably just me…

      • Yeah, it's a lot more subdued than this Aqualand. I've got a couple of watches with busy faces, so am looking for a more simple but elegant diver to add to my small collection.

I'd even settle for the SRPe33k

  • Is this a watch for left-handers? The crown appears to be on the wrong side.

My mate thinks it may be a pressure sensor, but that makes no sense. In this century they are miniature solid-state devices and just need a tiny hole in the case.
Surely they would not put a big gaudy lump on the watch that serves no purpose?

    • The crown is on the right. Your mate is correct – heaps of reviews on YouTube for this 30th anniversary Promaster watch.

    • Aren't those altimeters? Ie. You can't dive with them?

    • after diving you need to be able to wash it, so tiny hole for sensor might not allow enough fresh water in to wash out salt water. I owned a first gen version, mine has small lcd for depth this one doesn’t, but same chunky sensor.

    • The crown is at the 4 o'clock position.

The big gaudy lump at 9 o'clock is indeed the water pressure sensor.

The two buttons at 8 and 10 o'clock are for various functions relating to checking the water depth and calibrating the sensor.

Incidentally, the big gaudy lump isn't as big and gaudy as it used to be.

      • isn't as big and gaudy as it used to be

In 1990, that was cutting edge miniaturisation! Piezoresistive pressure sensors were not yet invented.

After having first hand experience buying from Starbuy, I can highly recommend them.

  • Good deal for those who like this watch!

@WatchNerd Please stop posting these amazing deals

  • I have this,

    Band is way too small.

    • +4

      Needs band 28

      • +2

        Phone is fine

    • According to the description, it comes with an extender strap.

  • very tempting, wish they included a stainless band with the watch.
i find my wrist gets itchy when i wear rubber watch bands for a full day, but i understand the appeal of the rubber watch band when in the water.

Bought one, looks great - been waiting since the last deal on this one

Thought I logged into OzBaller not OzBargain!

    • Nah it's only OzBaller when the watch costs as much as a decent second hand car. This is a bargain for a "perpetual" deep sea diving watch. Functions better than almost every other "baller" perpetual watch.

  • Must have missed out. Coming up as $599

    • +4

Enter code AQUANERD as mentioned in the description.

Is it possible to get a wrist hernia wearing this?

  • I have an older titanium version that stopped working a few years ago (JP1030-53E) I think.
I was diving a lot at the time for work.
Wanted to get it going again but citizen said they couldn’t get parts…. I wonder if any of you smart watch loving types know why could be done…. another similar model parts put into my titanium case? The light ‘warm’ feel of Ti is great

Cost me about the equivalent of $1600 in Europe, 2001

    • Whoa. Looks like a prop from Stargate.

  • Not a bad watch. Would still not buy. But you are the worst influence on my life, one day you will put something I can't say no to.
Actually PJC was the worst you come close though.

  • great price!

How do you do it? im waiting for a deal on the Bulova Lunar Pilot

  • Any seiko 5 deals coming up? @WatchNerd

  • When does the discount code expire?

  • Just received mine - wow it comes in its own dive tank case!

    https://imgur.com/a/NSgbYKp

  • bought one ….probably only wear in summer with short sleeve shirt …..too big for a cuffed shirt …..pity it doesn’t come with pelican case instead of plastic scuba tank.

    • Agreed. I'd much prefer the functional Pelican case that they get overseas.

  • +1

Mine came with low charge - put it under an LED desk lamp over night and its on the "high" section now.

The lume is great and I'm loving the watch, looks great with the band.
