$214.20 + delivery seems like a good price for this 8TB WD Elements Desktop USB. Cheaper than most of the recent offerings.

is it usb plug in or need power adapter as well?
Desktop Backup drives always need Ac power
If I remove the case can I insert it into a HDD docking station? For example something like https://www.pccasegear.com/products/34855/orico-4-bay-usb-3-…
Keen to use it for my mediaplayer.
Yes, you can. Just make sure you test it first before you pry it open
Cool, thanks
What do you recommend to test?
How long would it take in an 8TB drive?
Thanks
I can't remember what software I used (I did this back in 2018 with 10TB drives I bought) - but I think it may have been the one from WD itself. You can try running WD LifeGuard. These tests do take a long time - I ran mine overnight.
You may also want to ensure airflow to prevent the drive from getting too hot when running this. I just placed mine above my desktop, with the top exhaust fans of the desktop blowing up air through the bottom vents of the drive case.
202 now?
How does $26.78 per TB (+ delivery) compare to the larger drives that have recently been offered?
