Drivers are Intel drivers.
Don't bother going to the fenvi website

  • Decent price. What are drivers like? Not plug and play?

    • +1

      Intel drivers from Intel website

  • BT 5.2? Does it have AoA?

    • Don't know how to check

      • It's a cool feature of 5.1 (and 5.2 inherits that) but it wasn't widely adopted. It detects direction of a BT device using an array of antennas. It's rare to find support as the market doesn't demand it, it adds complexity..and the manufacturers tried to gouge devs to use that feature.

        • any way to find out if mine has that?

          • +1

@samsal46: Almost always it doesn't support it but they say 5.1 or 5.2 incorrectly. The antennas need to be in a complex array. I've only ever seen PCB antennas.

Fun demo at 1:00 but don't get too excited as support has sucked, almost secretive.

    • That wifi 6. This one is 6e

      • -2

Dont think there is much difference please correct me if I’m wrong.

        • +1

Please google. 6e is the latest technology. Why would I not buy the latest for a better price

        • +1

WiFi 6E supports 1 extra band: 6Ghz band. However, it is true you need a router that supports it. That said, if you were to get a new router, right now WiFi 6 implementation for most routers aren't perfect… it is unlikely 6E routers will be issue free either. That said, proper 6E routers should be tri-band routers (rather than dual bands) and that can be useful.

Then, after 6E, there is WiFi 7.

    • I bought this card but the non-heat sink version, it did not work on my HP Elitedesk G6. Tried different PCIE slots and still didn't work, not sure why.

  • My B550 Taichi motherboard has wifi 6 built into it. Is it worth for me to buy this card?

    • +1

Wi-Fi 6 and previous generations of Wi-Fi use the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radio bands. A “Wi-Fi 6E” device is one that is capable of operating on the 6 GHz band, too.

      • +2

Not legal (allowed) to operate WiFi in 6GHz band in Australia. 6GHz only applies to US at the moment

        • big no to futureproofing then…

'This issue, however, won’t last long. The FCC has recently proposed rules to open up the 6 GHz band for unlicensed use. So what does this mean for the Wi-Fi Alliance, manufacturers, and customers? Hopefully, Wi-Fi devices able to operate on this brand new band are coming to your home sooner rather than later.'

          like the last 6 months

    • Depends. Are you happy with the wifi performance of the board? If not, get this…

      • I am very happy with wifi 6 performance.

    • +1

      No.

    • +4

Absolutely not. I have the same board. You're board already has the intel AX200 chip on it and has WiFi 6 and BT 5.1. It's not worth upgrading to Wifi 6E or BT5.2, there's barely any difference between 5.1 and 5.2, and 6E is supported by a single $700 router, and no way you're going to be able to use that much bandwidth anyway.

Plus if you want to upgrade the wifi you can just buy the M.2 key E card instead and put it into the the cage the wifi card lives instead of wasting a PCIE slot https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001689520893.html?

      Not that I'd recommend it.

      • +1

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I am quite impressed by everything this motherboard has. Wifi is as fast as my router can push so definitely Wifi 6 is already exceeding my needs.

        • +1

Yeah, feels beautifully built too. It's a stunning board.

      • +1

this post is about a good quality wireless addon card and it has far less value if you have a very new ax200 chip until it fizzles out.

For all those without ax200 equipped boards it is very relevant.

Having said that because the new standard is no new i won't be buying new femvi's for probably 6 months to allow for tweaking.
Any one needing an update card in the next few months should consider these.

  • Can you tell me how long that antenna cable is? They would be using the cheapest antenna cable possible and so be extremely lossy to the point that extending the antenna to sit on computer can potentially be worse than if the antennas came straight out of the radio and sat behind the computer

    • about 3m

      • can you confirm 300cm?
That would be terrible, BUT can the antennas connect to the ports on the card where the wires connect? It does appear to be the case in the photos, but not sure if they are showing another model without the antenna extension or if card can be config'd with and without extension cable?

        • Sorry only 2 meters. And yes the cables connect to the antenna ports on the modem

  • it shows $48.99 USD for me?

    • That's for the rgb version. Select the middle or the first option

  • +1

Beware there's like one router that exists atm that supports WiFi 6E and it costs $700. You're buying this for the bluetooth 5.2

    • +1

Exactly my point. It’s like buying a 5G phone without any 5G tower.

    • +1

But when them routers get here.. we be ready for em. >D

      • What's wrong with using Wifi6 cards for now if they are working? When 6E routers are common and reasonable price then it could be a consideration to upgrade the PC adapter. Keep money for now and buy adapter later when it's useful for full 6E speed, in the meantime get more life out of current adapter.

        • +4

Because it is 2021 now and Snapdragon 865+ will support 6E (does that mean the next iPhone will too?). Also, if you really look at the current implementation of 160Mhz channels on 5Ghz (for WiFi 6), you can see why the 6Ghz band can help.

If you already have AX200 / WiFi 6 card, then yes, you shouldn't upgrade. However, if the difference between AX200 and AX210 is $10 or less, it doesn't hurt to go AX210. Both AX200 and AX210 are 2x2 cards so they are actually not that expensive (unless the retailers try to rip you off).

        • +1

the Xiaomi Router AX6000 is a reasonable price now.

Got RGB card delivered today was under 2 weeks. Happy with the performance.

  • What is the difference between normal and pro?

    • All three options are same. One is with wired antenna and the other rgb lighting

  • This is tempting, anyone know how long delivery will be?

    • 2 weeks for me.
