[Resolved] How Do I Make This Garage Door Opener Connection?

Hey guys I recently bought a garage door opener from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/600376

Not so handy with all of this but thought I’d give it a try. I want to connect to ground and osc according to the documentation.

I’m stuck at this point during the install of the wofea.

The garage opener has a board that shows the pins. Photo:

But I cannot for the life of me understand how the wire gets attached to the terminal. I’m aware of how a screw needs to be undone so the wire can be slotted in and tightened. However this ones different and I’m scared to tug tightly for the fear of breaking something.

Can someone familiar please advise how to connect the leads to the terminal in the photo?

Thanks!

you have similar terminal as mine. I bought the Meross one but it should be similar concepts.

I still don't know how to properly connect the cable but I managed to put it by pushing the cable down the pinhole.
    see illustration attached for example.
You need to something to hold that cables in place.

It'd be interesting to hear if others can suggest a proper solution but for now it works for me.

    • Thanks for the suggestion. The “holding the cable once inserted part” is where I want clarity as well :) I tried to pry out the orange plastic tabs, then insert and put it back in but it didn’t fit properly.

The orange parts either push in or push back. You do that, then slide the bare wire into the green part, then release the orange part.

    • I’m able to pry and remove the orange tab but there’s nothing that grabs into the wire inside in there.

      • Post up photos of the orange tab?

Post up photos of the orange tab?

Can only find the pink ones…

        • I’ve put up more photos in my comment below

  • Don't the orange bits push in to release the grip on the cable? I don't think you need to screw in but clamp in.

    • they dont seem to have enough space in there to push in.

Those are push terminals, you need to put a bootlace on or solder any multistrand together and then just push it into the terminal. To release the connection push a screwdriver into the orange bit of plastic and it should open up. If you are having trouble getting the wire in you can also push the orange bit to open up the terminal then insert the wire and release the terminal.

Google Push terminals for more information I assume there is a you tube.

      It's not typical push terminal.
I cannot push it down but I can pry the orange tab out. but it doesn't do anything.

Prying it out is not the answer. If you cannot push it in, then it must push in some other direction.

What is the brand and model number of the device that this terminal is in?

        • Mines a bnd controll a door power drive. I believe bargain80 is in a similar situation with his install.

  • Are Bargain80 and hashtagbargain the same person?

1 in Brissy and 1 in Melbourne so yes

      • I obviously got confused when they both talked about prying out the orange buttons and both used the same photo.

        • looks like we have the same model of garage opener :)

    • I reckon you've caught someone with two different profiles.

      • lol I wish. ozb mods are ruthless in identifying dupes.

        • It's just the way Bargain80 wrote this

Definitely talking like they are the OP.

  • Just looking at the photo again, is it possible that the orange part slides across then pushes down?

I think it's simply pull out the orange tab, stick the wire through the front hole and poke the orange tab back it so that it pushes down and grips the wire?

Have you asked the manufacturer of the device how to use the terminal block? I think you said it was B&D somewhere above, but I can't find it in a quick scan.

Go to this product page which is for a very similar looking terminal block.

The product picture section has a play icon which pops up a short embedded video which explains how they work.

  • I’ve heard from the technical team of b&d who have advised to push the orange bit in so the wire can be slid in the side hole. The wire is caught when the pin is released. They said though it may seem right, that’s the right way to do it.

Thanks everyone for your inputs and suggestions.
