Help...which one is the NBN HFC socket?

I just moved to another house and received NBN box last Friday. Now trying to set up the internet
I have called TPG and they said just make sure all cables are connected and NBN and modem are turned on and leave it there for a few days, then it should be activated.

I am trying to work out which socket is the one that should be connected to NBN box?
Currently I have found a few:

Is any of them NBN socket?

They look like a coaxial cable, possibly left over from Foxtel days and are reused for NBN.

When NBN connect an internal coaxial cable to the HFC line, the installer will put a sticker above that line. So either someone removed the sticker, or none of them are it.
You can always unscrew the panel and take a look at the cable itself. If it looks relatively clean and new, chances are it is it.

    • First plate looks newer/whiter

    • Not exactly.
When NBN installed my NFC, no sticker is provided despite having multiple sockets in the house.

HFC confirmed. Is the NBN connection box status lights flashing, green, yellow, off?

Are you using TPGs router or do you have your own?

    • Power light is green. Downstream green light keeps flashing for about 1 minute and then NBN box seems to reboot by itself. and dose the same thing again.

I am using TPG modem (white one).

      • Downstream light flashing green means it's searching for the connection. The waiting game continues.

        • Oh no…how long dose it usually take…
I don't understand…why can't I just plug in and everything works.. I submitted "move home" request on TPG website 1 week earlier before I moved.

          • @arst: My HFC install went live about 1 hour after the NBN worker left. Is it live yet?

    • A neg? what a joke 🤣

Those are the HFC NTD status lights and coax wall plates used by NBN for HFC. If I had a dollar for every time a TPG customers connection wasn't live and forgot the magical number of 2 in their routers VLAN 802.1q section I'd be 💰💰

The Telstra plate should be the one for NBN HFC.

You might have a splitter box thing in your house somewhere (maybe in the meter box?) and one or all of those might be active. All those ports are HFC. Presumably left over from a previous owner having Foxtel.

I’d probably consider getting a professional install done because there isn’t really a way of knowing which one is active.

I think the pay tv and Telstra one will work. Just plug it in and trial and error.

I am on HFC via TPG. Mine is identical to your second screenshot (Telstra)

Just checking, the Black NBN box was already in this house right? You have not moved it from a previous residence?

This. Maybe previous owners weren't using NBN. I thought NBN was installed at my place, and turns out it wasnt. Had to wait 2 weeks for the NBN co guy to come and actually install the FTTC. I tried plugging it into the phone lines and mine kept clicking, looking for a connection. If you still haven't resolved it, best to call up your provider and double check its installed at your premises.

  • Middle One for me.

  • Either 1 or 2 😷.

      Haha there you go!
Every installation I've seen they've done that. They're required to take a photo of the final install too. Though there's bound to be some slackers around.
      Glad you got it sorted!
