  • What colour do you recommend best for “mood setting”?

    • +1

Admittedly the gas heater with the natural flames in the living area set the best mood. Otherwise you gotta go with a pinky/purple ;)

      • Tried blue once and the mrs didn’t appreciate it ;-)

        • +2

For Valentines I had the rose petals on the bed in a heart, bottle of wine and to top it off after the voice command and the room went light pink… careless whisper played. So cheesy but so funny.

If you're lady isn't fancy you can replace the wine with goon and make a heart from some sour hearts.

  • what does Tuya based mean? Sorry i''m a noob with smart homes and only looking to it now.

    • +3

In smart home automation there are several ecosystems of products built around different technologies. Tuya is what Kogan use as part of their SmarterHome range so that all the different Tuya gadgets can be controlled within the single app.

Mirabella Genio at Kmart and Grid Connect at Bunnings are also Tuya based, while Xiaomi/Aqara smart home products for example are Zigbee.

      • great thanks for the explanation. Just one more question, the kogan listing does not say Tuya based. Should I be looking for something else in the description?

      • That's actually not an accurate explanation at all. Tuya is a smarthome platform which many IoT manufacturers use. Zigbee is a wireless protocol which competes with WIFI, Z-Wave and bluetooth. If fact Tuya supports both WIFI and Zigbee compatible smart devices. LIFX is one of the more popular WIFI based devices, whilst Philips HUE have adopted the Zigbee protocol exclusively. Kogan Smarterhome devices have adopted the Tuya firmware/app platform as well as Jesled, Arlec GridConnect and many others.

        • Ok we go with that then.

  • any idea on working tuya convert?

    • I'd say the chances are 'High'. Depending on Tuya firmware installed. I'm very tempted.

      • yup already looked at that and the chances of these being manufactured before July is high. Getting one to test

    • +2

No. I got some last week. :(

Also, they don't put out much light

      • :( Thanks for letting us know.

      • Nooooooooo :'( I just cancelled the order. Thanks for the reply @MagicMikez32! I wonder which brands are left that can be tasmotized.

        • Don't know. The last thing I was able to tasmota ota was mirabella string lights. Not the same, but makes me hopeful

    • That's Amazon US. It is however Tuya based.

  • anyone tried to buy two and extend them using one controller to 10m?

    • I guess it depends on the capacity of the transformer. You can easily sync the two units together though.

Seems very cheap , particularly given it has independent warm/cool LEDs. I have a Xiaomi strip, and because it only uses RGB LEDs any attempt at white is a disaster.

Remember Latitude pay for a further $20 off purchase over $20. If you've already used it on kogan.com you can get another $20 at DSE.

    • how do you get latitude and what do you mean DSE?

      • My bad, Dick Smith. Essentially the same items just all the different domain name.

    • found it dw

  • FYI ….Free shipping is now being offered on the Dick Smith website which has all the same products.

    • Nice. Anyone have the code?

      • +1

"Freebie" ….. But I think it autofills it for you.

  • Back to 59.99 and 79.99?
