and here i was thinking i could send d*ck pics the old fashioned way until you pointed out the T&C to me.

(yes i realise this is an inappropriate joke, and no i don't mean it, or condone sending pictures of your unsolicited pictures of your genitalia no matter how spectacular it may be. last time this joke had some people outraged so i hope those have a sense of humour this time round)

    (Sheet of 20x $1.10 Stamps) $25

    20 x $1.10 = $22

    Can't see how this is a bargain…

    • -1

It's a new category. Boomer bargains.

    • +1

What? You expect AusPost to print these for you for free? You're dreamin'…

      • print these for you for free?

        $22 isn't free…

        • No, it isn't, but that's just covering postage, which is the carriage service. The other $3 covers the printing costs (or $13, if you're paying full tote outside the promotion…), which includes paper, ink, adhesives, etc. Unless, of course, they've managed to plant trees all the stuff grows on, in which case they need to switch business models immediately.

Stamps already need to be printed…

            • @jv: indeed

but to be fair they are printed in much larger runs = lower cost

unless you think thousands of people want ones with your random face or dog or whatever

              • +1

                @bargain huntress:

but to be fair they are printed in much larger runs = lower cost

Hardly much difference in run costs these days as it is digital printing. They don't have to mess around with ink plates.

They just want you to think that way, so they can charge you more…

                • @jv: fair enough

do they still have to order it and pack it manually or does a robot and computer do that too?

                  • +1

                    @bargain huntress:

do they still have to order it and pack it manually

yes, but no different to manually ordering standard stamps…

the only difference is they need to send you the correct ones.

      that's so sad

      • No, what's sad is that I remember petrol prices were 45c a liter…

        • that's not sad. it might be sad if you hadn't bought petrol since it was 45c a liter, depending on the reason.
i meant it was sad that he / they hadn't sent a letter in so long.

Do you print these yourself? ie no need to visit post office?

    • It appears they print and deliver

  • Soanything can b a stamp
How do they know we just dind't print a random squiggly?

  • +3

I've been getting free postage for years, because Australia Post don't bother to stamp the stamps most of the time. You just cut it off and reuse it. There's an OzBargain !

    • +2

That's very true. If it hasn't been postmarked then, technically, it hasn't been used. I had a brother-in-law who worked for AusPost and he tried to argue that it's stealing as the stamp has already been 'used' and you're re-using it without paying the fee for postage. I asked him to produce documentation that states a stamp which has been sent through the postal service, but isn't postmarked, is any different than a virgin stamp straight off the backing sheet it was printed on. He wasn't able to, so as far as I see it they're fair game.

      • +3

It's easier to use "postage paid" envelopes from work. They don't even need a stamp

        • So instead of questionably theft you suggest we just commit actual theft. Genius.

          • +1

@sk3iron: My employer allows staff to use use/take stationary for personal use as long as it is not excessive

            • @spaceflight: What if you purchased envelopes and then printed "postage paid" on them? :O

          • @sk3iron: How am I stealing, when gifted stamps from Oz Post ?

  • I would grab these stamps but you only get to choose one image I would of liked to have 10 of one image and 10 of another on the same sheet
