Retails here for $179 if anyone is wondering

    http://www.sony.com.au/product/prs-t1

    • It's AUD$177.39 on Book Depository now as well.

  • It's AUD$152.67 on the US site using a US VPN.

just change .co.uk to .com to get the US price

  • Whaddya do if you need any warranty work on it?

great price… i got this for christmas from the sony store. full RRP :(
i can't compare to the current gen touch kindle 3G's in the US.. but i think it's far superior to anything in the market over here. The sony software sucks..but i use calibre..so much better.

what sucks is that the US had this model for $99 in the xmas season.

    • $99 was good price. but considering the cost of mail forwarding and T1 doesnt come with international warranty, I also bought mine at full RRP.

    • yeah, bh is much better deal than this, and fast shipping too. UPS saver only takes around 5 working days, only sad thing is BH will be re-open on this Sat (EST) but feel free to make order prior.

I got one from BHPhoto just before christmas it was on special $89.99 plus shipping of $31.66 total $121.65 delivered in perfect condition in 6 days at a saving of $57 compared to local RRP it was worth forgoing the local warranty however at a saving of $10 for this deal it's not.

  • Last time I checked PRS-T1 was selling for $99.99 plus shipping at B&H Photo.

  • Great ereader but has sony resolved the issue of constant crashing?

    • Yes the new firmware has apparently solved the freezing and random page flips real life tests are of course still ongoing but it all seems to be fine now

  • Id rather pay a bit more for a 3G kindle… But I like that this has a micro SD card slot, nice one :)

  • I'm tempted to buy one. It would be only the second Sony I've ever owned. The first, purchased in 1987, required three longish drives in office hours to the back of beyond- Ryde from memory- before the damn thing worked. ok, I admit it, I got my poor old mum to do two of those drives while I was at work. a 24 year ban on Sony products may be enough.

    • having been continually disappointed with sony goods myself over 10 or so years (bravia, ps2/ps3, psp, phones, headphones, docks, photo frames).. this is the first one that i'm truly happy about.

B&H deal looks fantastic. It'll pay for itself regardless of whether you buy or "download" e-books.

My only gripe besides PC software: 1. the Australian Store is not up yet, and the linked Borders/A&R stores are ripoffs. (I instead just put in a fake US address.. to get US book deals/freebies).. and 2. PDFs are kinda slow (but far superior to current gen kindles in australia).
