  • Does the extra 3 months give you another 18gb

  • Never heard of the reseller but just to be clear the 18gb data is for 1 month right (not for 3 months)?

    • +6

This isn't a reseller I don't think. It looks like Optus themselves.

      • +2

I think you're right, in the footer:
"© 2020 gomo, gomo Communications is a division of Optus Mobile Pty Ltd ABN 65 054 365 696"

    • There's GOMO in Singapore, also a telco. It doesn't seem like they're related though

      • +5

Optus being SingTel (Singapore) itself, makes it seem GOMO is the same as Optus.

        • Optus is Owned by Singtell from Singapore as well as GOMO in Singapore. So basically Optus launched a brand (GOMO) from its parent company

        • Oh yea, true, I forgot about that

    • +1

Yup it’s 18gb per 30 days according to their critical summary

    • +3

From the gomo website, right down at the bottom of the site it says this "gomo Communications is a division of Optus Mobile Pty Ltd ABN 65 054 365 696" so I guess it is owned by Optus, just at a budget cost. No VoLTE, No WiFi Calling AFAIK

      • Correct; gomo doesn't get anything special over other MNVOs right now.

I just want to know if this plan can be used toward my accumulated amount of $80.00 to unlock an optus handset. I recharged my optus locked handset $30 (prepaid) and I just need another $50 so I can unlock it for free. Here is the details https://www.optus.com.au/for-you/support/answer?id=1399

    • I'd ring Optus

    • +1

You know if you have a friend/relative that is a long time customer with optus prepaid or plan, You can get them to chat online and chat provide their phone (optus number) number and D.O.B and the IMEI of the phone and they will give you and unlocking code. My whole family did this when we all bought these cheap locked to optus phones and just my sister who had a prepaid Optus sim customer for ages.

      • thanks for the info, I will try tomorrow.

  • or just $10 for the first month and forget the HOO-HA of the following months.

    • Might as well spend an extra $4.90 & get Kogan 60gb 90 days $14.90

      • yep

      • No included international calls on that Kogan plan that I can see, it's another $5 per month minimum..

If you don't need that it's good.

      • Vodafone vs Optus. Big difference for some. (No Vodafone reception at all where I live)

  • +8

    Why is this so complicated.

    • I'm on this plan now but got it back when it was $1+$25+$25+0+0+0 ($51 for 6mths).
Agree with you though… they have shot theirselves in the foot by making it unnecessarily complicated.

  • +2

Got this when it was $1 at launch only just activated the network seems great ..

Data rollovers as well up to 200gb I believe for those interested

    • +1

No VoLTE is a massive negative for me. Every time you make a phone call you drop back to 3g and data access on your phone becomes snail paced. Very annoying to have this happen in 2021 when most networks are planning to switch off 3g in the next couple of years.

  • I'm on it and it's pretty good so far. So glad that I get to make free calls 18 countries as well. Best deal yet.

    • Yeah me too, have this plan and it seems good.

Other than the odd spots on SATAC that Optus signal is rubbish.

  • Apple watch compatible?

    • Doesn’t look like it. From FAQ:

      Do you support eSIMs?
We’re working to support eSIMs in the future, including wearables that require eSIM capability. Stay tuned for more information on this in future product releases.

      • +2

eSIM doesn't = Apple Watch support - you can get a prepaid Optus, prepaid Vodafone or prepaid Telstra service on an eSIM, but can't add an Apple Watch number sharing setup

        • Wait what? U can get prepaid? I thought esims were only on postpaid? Or is this strictly for watches

          • +1

@Splashtash: Yes, all of the carriers offer eSIMs for prepaid and have for some months now.
            Perfect for dual SIM phones.

(it's that no MVNOs support eSIM yet. So no Boost / Aldi / gomo / Kogan / felix etc)

The Apple Watch / Galaxy Watch have a special eSIM setup (ie you can't install any random eSIM on there, it has to be an addon to whatever sim is in your phone - and right now no prepaid support the watches)

            • @b3au: Have been waiting for this since I got my iPhone XR 2 years back…. finally don’t have to carry 3 phones XD. Work, a main and data one , haha

I feel so famous anyone want my autograph?

    • +2

      $10, $25 or free?

      • Austin Powers looking face says one gazlion bazilion dollars please ;)

    • +2

On a blank cheque.. sure! ;-)

    • +1

Hi rep, any deals for ozbargainers?

      • I'm not a rep sorry I just happened to have picked a unique username 11+ Years ago ;)

        • +1

Damn it. I was contemplating whether to add a /s but decided not to LOL. Maybe I should've added that.

  • is this offer for new customer only or applies for previous customers also?

  • Is anybody familiar with whether Optus / this plan allows for ‘data-gifting’ in the same way that Belong allows ?

    • +1

      No, unfortunately.

      • Cheers - yes, would have been good …

  • Is data hotspotable?

    • As long as you are on a regular data plan, you should be able to do so without any issues.

  • +1

The Gomo app has constant glitches.
I'm nervous my free months won't kick in, we will see

  • Interesting they do this - did they recently buy Amaysim? Surely that would have been sufficient as the "no frills" arm of Optus.

  • My telstra 2 years plan is almost up, can I port over ?

  • Anybody know if gomo support voice mail to text?

    • Just asked via chat and no, it's not available. That's a bit is a deal breaker for me.

  • Any expirey?

    • Activate your first subscription by 28/02/2021.

  • Looks like you need to remember to renew your subscription (in the app) by the end of March or you lose the deal.
