    • Logan is back in stock

      • thx got it

Is there much difference in watching like that compared to 4k netflix?

    • -3

Dont think this is 4k on Netflix.

Plus when ever somone needs to ask if there is a difference between HD and 4k, pretty safe bet they not going to see any diffrence.

On new TV's the normal 1080p HD movie/Netflix can look just as good as 4K bluray.

Only enthusiasts who know the difference between 720p, 1080p, 4k, Dolby Vision and HDR ever tell a diffrence.

If you can't tell a difference (sometimes minor) or care for the diffrence, then no need for 4k bluray.

      • I spoiled myself with a nice 4k TV but am definitely not an enthusiast, there is 100% a major difference in quality on each jump between 720p > 1080 > 4k, but this can be mitigated (atleast for the jump from 1080p) with smart scaling on higher end TV's

Where it's a little more nuanced in the difference between the more compressed 1080p / 4k from streaming services vs blu-ray

All just my personal experience though

      Big big quality difference

      • -1

That your average Joe is not going to appreciate or even tell compared to streaming on their mobile.

My point being its not a night and day difference, it's shades of grey that only enthusiasts can tell apart.

Your average consumer doesn't need to upgrade from Netflix/bluray to 4K/HDR/Dolby Vision because they don't know or appreciate the diffrence in quality.

And if you can't see the diffrence, then why pay a premium for it?

        • +7

If you have a decent hardware setup, the difference is quite significant.

        • +1

Well. I (profanity) love it. I watched 'Alien' the other night on 4k blu-ray. Just unbelievable how great they made a 30year old movie look.

And it cost me $17. Hardly a premium.

      • I dont think there is a huge difference in picture quality. Noticeable for sure but not a big leap. However I am using a mid range 4K tv, not OLED or some uber expensive one.
I am using a high quality Yamaha Dolby ATMOS setup and I think the audio improvement in a 4K film is far better than visual improvement.

        • got both, hdr is way more important

        • +1

Agreed - I find I'm playing 4K movies (either through a full rip or a 4K disc) and it's the only thing that really brings out my Atmos setup properly.

    • Does Netflix even output 4K properly?

      • I don't know, watched the queen's gambit for a bit and it looked kinda nice

    • +1

If you have Disney + this should be part of Star when it arrives 23rd. Might explain these sales. It should be 4k streaming. But yes there's a difference with physical disc and streaming.

  • +3

Deadpool 2 4K is also $7.49 at the moment.

  • Damn all my 4k collection are Disney and Marvel movies.

    • Can't complain about that

  • +1

I wish Amazon would start selling other studios’ 4K discs this cheap.

  • -3

A lot of these movies can be found in your local library for free on DVD. And you can borrow a bunch at a time.

Save your money, save the environment. If you're not fussy about watching things in 4K or DVD.

    • +11

Lol DVD. Say hello to 1995 for me

    • +4

I prefer watching those cool newfangled flipbooks. They fit perfectly next to my fob watch and I can enjoy them riding in the horse and carriage.

    • Maybe grab some audiobooks on CD while you're there.

      • Hey now, don’t bring audiobooks into this!

  • Alien Covenant 4k hd now listed as $6.71 .

Deadpool 1 and 2 , Logan, and Ford v Ferrari all back in stock too.

    My goodness!
