  • It's been $6 on Amazon for a while now…

Received mine yesterday, it's the new version without the bladder.

    • +1

      Pic pls?

    • Is this better?

      • +1

        Yes, it's easier to refill.

      • +3

Regular debate in Deals - how to easily fill the bladder as it contracts as oil is sprayed. It's quite easy, when you know how.

As the bladder stays in contact with the oil - keeping out air, it likely reduces oxidation of the oil with the air.

I'm sticking with my bladder version!

        • +1

I'm sticking with my bladder version

          My Urologists also agrees

      • +1

Oil sprayer is excellent, the best I have tried. Spray is even, enabling my baked potatoes to come out evenly brown. I purchased mine yesterday from Coles for about $8 due to Woolworths and Amazon sold out.

Previous oil sprayers I had used were useless. Before using this sprayer, make sure the white filter disk at the bottom of the suction tube is on tight. As, at the start I thought it was another useless sprayer, the spray was intermittent, until I found the disk wasn't pushed on correctly.

    • Got one from Woolies this week as it's the new one. I am using the orig version at the moment with the bladder but since the other comments say they do eventually fail I'm considering this my spare lol.

I do wonder now though what is the point of the bladder then? At a complete random guess it is there to apply an extra light squeezing force?

      • Less air get's inside?

        • +4

Less air in contact with the oil is better for the oil - less oxidation.

      • Be careful - mine had both. Looks like I got the bladder one…

        • See previous Deal on how to easily fill the bladder.

The bladder has an advantage of keeping the air out of contact with the oil - reducing harmful oxidation of the oil.

          • +1

@INFIDEL: Yeah I blew in the bladder after washing seems easy enough, not sure why all the hate…

            • +3

              @[Deactivated]: I used blow, now I suck!

There's a recessed small hole in the base (1 way valve), which when sucked for a few seconds with the sprayer top off - inflates the bladder fully.
              Worth a try.

              • @INFIDEL: ^this. I wish this comment could be 'stickied' at the top every time these go on sale.

So easy when you know the trick.

                • @MattyD: With the updated design, this is almost out of date info!

              • +1

@INFIDEL: WOW, I feel so stupid, i've been poking it with a stick everytime lol!

                • @neosin: You come from a long line of (chop) stick pokers😄

It's a common suggestion. It was one of many possible good solutions to a problem, so absolutely no reason to consider yourself "stupid" - you found a different solution!

I was a "blower" for years, until a discussion in a Decor Deal in November.
                  Now I'm a convert! I suck😉

It's great to learn simple but somehow almost profound ideas from this community.
Once you see something better & it works, it's hard to imagine doing it differently.

I was fortunate to turn that into my business, helping businesses & people see their field totally differently. They made a lot of money from ideas others never saw.
It was all play to me. A State Manager of a multinational sat on my office floor playing with soft toys. In 5 minutes he came up with the idea of a product for the company worth an estimated $300M/yr!

But in this case - it was another's great observation. Several people have commented about it in Deals.

      Engine is my go-to.

      • For the body?

Oh for the body I subscribe to Kramer’s idea… butter!

        • +1

          Great if having an Orgy😄

          • @INFIDEL: Especially on Blue Monday

            • @[Deactivated]: Never heard of Blue Monday before, but then I've never turned up for work in a very long time😉
Now where is my sprayer… These bodies won't oil themselves😄

Oh, that Blue Monday… by Orgy!
"Tell me now, how do I feel?"
Can't get the song out of my head.

Prefer the New Order original - from 1983.

A quick search had only shown:
"a Monday on which one feels gloomy or dispirited, especially because one has to return to work after the weekend." Hence my work related comment.

Pretty much any light oil — vegetable, olive, peanut, rice bran… I even have one for clear mineral oil. I use it for applying to cutting boards and bench blocks to rub into the wood (used to be available at IKEA). I also use that one for replenishing dried out black automotive plastics like mirror housings, instrument housings on my motorcycle etc. I find it easier using this sprayer to atomize a small quantity of oil under pressure, which is easier to spread around, as opposed to a pump pack which tends to dump a big splodge.

      • Champion - thank you for something meaningful…

  • got one a while back from woolies, it seems to leak after a while and hand gets oily. is that same experience with other people?

    • Not since I found out how to use it. If it isn't filled properly it will try to pump the oil out, which tends to drip. If you use atmospheric pressure to aerosolize it, it shouldn't drip and get oily on the outside. Just follow the instructions above — suck the one way valve on the bottom to inflate the bladder fully inside the bottle, then fill it with oil.

Errr it was listed many times that Amazon was price matching/had the same price in the woolies post. But sure, lets post another 'deal'

  • I got one of these from Woolworths but have been thinking about my choice. I could have bought a couple of bottles of spray oil can for the same money and with my little use I think that would have been a better choice over time

    • +2

These avoid you spraying butane, propane

      • I ment Canola oil spray bottle from Coles

        • +4

          Really??
          Maybe do a little research…

          Coles Canola Oil Cooking Spray
          400g $1.85

INGREDIENTS: Canola Oil (67%), Emulsifier (Soy Lecithin), Propellant (Butane, Propane)
DO NOT PIERCE OR BURN, EVEN WHEN EMPTY.
DO NOT SPRAY ON NAKED FLAME OR ANY INCANDESCENT MATERIAL. KEEP AWAY FROM SOURCES OF IGNITION - NO SMOKING.

          Happy cooking!!

I prefer my oil straight, propelled by a safe blast of air! From this sprayer.

And without so much unnecessary waste going to landfill!

Canned spray is not recommended for use with non-stick cookware.
Cooking sprays leave a film that adheres to the nonstick surface and is tough to remove with just soap and water. Over time, that buildup of propellant reduces a pan’s performance, and food may start to stick to it.

And as only 67% (268g) of the 400g contents is the actual oil you want - it makes it a dearer purchase than equivalent bottled oil!

Plus, I'd rather make my own choice of the quality & taste of oil I use, without Emulsifier & gases.

How I came to use & enjoy this sprayer…

Was cutting back on my limited oil use (Drs orders) - mainly used to occasionally stop food sticking in pans.

Bought 1 can of oil spray, before seeing a Decor oil sprayer Deal. Was sceptical at first, but I haven't regretted buying it.

Even though I'm not a big oil user, I've found I've saved many times the $6 purchase cost over years of use of this sprayer, rather than so many spray cans!!

          • @INFIDEL: Thanks for the details explanation. Didn't know any of the sideeffect or additive used in oil spray can. I have ruined a pan before not sure what I did wrong and it must have been the spray oil from the can. Feel a lot better about my purchase now. Its a nice little sprayer. Thanks mate

            • +4

              @Safoan: I didn't know all that either!

Some has been mentioned in these Deals (like ruined pans), so I looked into it. Was surprised by what I found.

              Enjoy your sprayer!
I like mine even more now.

          • +4

@INFIDEL: Kudos Mr Infidel! What a well researched and presented post. This should be stickied for inclusion of future deals on this sprayer…
