Bigger bargain than $0 off
As somebody who recently bought an Air Fryer i would take a look at the Tefal units, they are cheaper, much larger in space and much easier to keep clean.
Can someone explain to me how this is different to an oven? Both blow hot air around food to cook it right?
These cooks a lot quicker than an oven. Because the hot air is concentrated in a small chamber.
Smaller space and the air is circulated faster and in a much more controlled way, being forced through where the food is.
To provide a real world example - roast potatoes.
Oven
Preheat - approx 200-220 degrees for 15 mins
Cook - using a decent amount of oil if you want really crispy potatoes for 30-45 mins, possibly more depending on your oven (and also dependent on your potato size)Air Fryer
Preheat - not required, although some people will preheat for a few mins on 200 just to get some heat build up
Cook - using a much smaller amount of oil (avocado works great as it's healthier than extra virgin and has a much higher smoke point) for 15-20 mins (also potato size dependent)From a 'reheating' perspective, I've started experimenting with other foods too. Those donuts you get from Coles and Woolies or premade mini banana muffins are a treat! Throw them in the air fryer on 190-195 for 3-4 mins and they taste just almost fresh. I've even reheated those mini muffins on the day of expiry, when really, they are getting to be a little stale. A few mins in the air fryer and you've got a fresh muffin with a nice, slightly crispy muffin top. I buy those 12 packs of donuts and muffins now and freeze them all. Whenever I feel like a donut, I thaw it out in the microwave for a couple of mins and then blast it in the air fryer. Great for when you're working from home and you're feeling like a one of those mid-morning treats you'd tend to buy whenever you're in the office. ;-)
It's just an 1800w (some higher some lower) element and a powerful fan with a container featuring a suspension tray to let fat and oils drip away. If the oil is contained in the item and can be cooked in a normal oven, chances are it can be done a lot faster in an air fryer.
Air fryers are pretty great but how people pay more than $50 for one of these blows my mind, there's literally nothing to them.
i think 100$ is really sweet spot, mine come with 5 attachments which includes a cage and it spins inside the air fryer to make sure everything is evenly cooked. also fork attachment so big chicken can be hooked up and spin too.
$13 off how is this a bargain lol
