  • Specs are too hard to read on website
This will be easier to read http://www.logicalblueone.com.au/store/478-asus-g74sx-bbk7-n…

    • -1

Not the same computer (but arguably a better laptop)

      • Agree nicksnoobie's link is wrong. Why the deal neg though? The price looks ok compared to similarly spec'd g73sx.

      • I'm sorry, but how the hell does that warrant a neg?

  • +1

Im not trying to compare the laptop specs.
I'm trying to show the better format of the specs

    Note REP: 1.5TB (2 x 750GB) Hard Drives, Not 1.5GB

    • Thanks for the suggestional input on how we list the specs, we are currently in the process of doing a new website which should be a better format and easier to read the spec of notebooks and other such items.

Not sure why watchman gave a neg tho.

  • here is the specs

and dont you dear to buy from that link XD

I like everything about this laptop but the graphic card, GTX 460 is little old

    • +1

      True.

  • i have a technical question from the link http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/asus-g73sw-fhd-tz017v-…
It states "Quad Core CPU model can support 4xSO-DIMM, up to 16GB DDR3 1333 Mhz"
"Dual Core CPU model can support 2xSO-DIMM, up to 8GB DDR3 1333 MHz"

    Does it mean 4 cores model = i7 2630 and 2 cores model = 2629 ??

Another question what's the max memory stick for laptop ? Is it 4Gb ? Can i get a 16Gb stick ?

    Thank you.

    • I think the biggest memory for a single stick is 8GB

      Does it mean 4 cores model = i7 2630 and 2 cores model = 2629 ??
2630 Quad core. 2629 Dual core

It states "Quad Core CPU model can support 4xSO-DIMM, up to 16GB DDR3 1333 Mhz"
"Dual Core CPU model can support 2xSO-DIMM, up to 8GB DDR3 1333 MHz"
I think it depends on the mobo. Doesn't have anything to do with cpu. Not 100% sure though

      • OK thank you, i just want to distinguish between CPU and memory relation.
I do know for the fact that you need a mobo AND CPU dat supports a certain type of memory that you'd like to go for.
For example: you need Intel® Core™ i7-990X which support triple (3) channels AND a mobo support triple channels b4 thinking about to get triple channels memory stick.
The CPU's price is so dear http://ark.intel.com/products/52585/Intel-Core-i7-990X-Processor-Extreme-Edition-(12M-Cache-3_46-GHz-6_40-GTs-Intel-QPI)

        • Why would you buy 1st gen CPU now?
          It's outdated and expensive
          Better off buying 2nd gen

  • I got the Dell XPS 17" with better speed quad core processor, 2 * 72k rpm HDD, 8 GB ram, 2 years warranty, Nvidea GeForce GT 555M, rest same specs for $15** during signature 30% deal.

    • 2 * 72k rpm HDD
      You mean 7.2k RPM

      • sorry. yes. 7.2k rpm

    • FYI - GT 555M cannot compare with the GTX series, GTX is way better than the GT series, just google it…

      • +2
        • Actually, NotebookCheck says that the 555M is better at most tests. 555M wins at PCmark vantage and Cinebench, but yes, the GTX 460M looks slightly better for gaming.

        • Thanks for the explanation. I earlier tht 555 is better. One thing I hated for Dell was, though it supported 16Gb, it had only 2 slots for RAM.
          3D model had 4 slots.

    • G series are for gaming, hence the graphic card

  • If you considering to buy a "gaming laptop", i would suggest go for a desktop. It's better and cheaper in all things ( CPU, GPU, Memory ..ect.. )at the same price with laptop. However, it's up to individual choice.

Enough said, my laptop still sucks big time for $999….

    • You can build very very good gaming desktop for around $1500.
But still I want Alienware just for the looks
