Woohoo I'm one of those, only Westpac I've ever done is a credit card churn and burn.

    • Yeah I got this offer twice already so finally they catch up and that's it game over…..

  • Does a Westpac Credit Card count as a transaction account?

All account holders on the new Choice account must not hold or have held a Westpac transaction account, or received this offer at any time to be eligible.

lol how would you "receive this offer" without having held an account?

  • “Sorry encounter problem. Come back later.”

  • open it for the $50 then close it. It's not a competitive offer after the $50;
    - Transactions made in foreign currency, and the merchant or financial institution is located outside Australia 3% of the AUD transaction amount
    - Transactions made in foreign currency, and the merchant or financial institution is located in Australia 2.2% of the AUD transaction amount
    - Monthly service fee $5 This fee is waived for: Customers that deposit at least $2,000 each month

  • Does BoM count ? lol

  • Do you need to be under 30 to get this offer?

  • I just got mine credited from the last deal. I've had a Westpac transaction account before, but something like 15 years ago.

    • How long did you take to get the $50? I've opened my Choice + Life account in Jan and completed all steps (no pending transactions) but haven't received it yet.

      • Also curious about this, I think I recall the fine print saying 45 days…

I actually got $50 3 days ago, didn't check my account as there were no notifications. It is within 45 days if it helps you.

      • I opened the account at the end of December. Made my 5th purchase by Jan 20 and got the $50 at the start of Feb.

Kept getting a ‘technical error’ when submitting a new application online. Says to try again later. Have been trying for days and still the same error.

Called westpac and was on the phone for 30 mins, they seemed to have a problem entering my address on one line in their system.

Now they are asking to go into a bank to verify identify and open the account?

Then to go back into the back into the branch to pick up the debit card as they won’t post it out.

    What a nightmare.

  • Physical card still hasn't arrived in the mail… are you supposed to be able to use a digital card via the Westpac App in the meantime, or is that only for Credit Card Accounts?

    • You can use the digital card online; I do that sometimes when I can't remember the card number and CVV and can't be bothered looking for the physical card for it.

      • Yes but do you have to activate the physical card you receive in the mail first before the digital card is available? Or is the digital card available as soon as the account is open?

        • Well if it's like the credit card, the digital card should be ready to use the moment it appears in your account.

You won't know unless you try it out for yourself … You can also add the digital card to your mobile wallet and then change the CVV once you receive the physical card.
