      good to great

      60 Hz

    • -1

that 60hz screen is a let down.

    • For up to 1440p at 60hz it's pretty good.

Won't do 4k with most new titles. Won't do 144hz at any decent resolution/graphics details in most new titles. Won't do RTX.

I have one and rate it for the price.

Looks great for $1274. Display seems to be 72% NTSC if I'm not mistaken. Would have preferred a higher refresh rate though…

  • Has no hard drive but a second hard drive?

    • +1

You can install another drive. It should have an empty 2.5" drive bay.

  • i cant seem to get the shopback link to work, opens a black page for me :(

Edit: Nvm, manage to get it to work via add on extension

Why isn't this deal taking off like previous ones late last year? It's the same if not better, with cashback too.

    Edit: smaller screen I guess?

RTX3000s laptops are trickling in. Huge performance gains. Worth waiting for.

9th Gen Intel is a bit old which is probably keeping people away from this otherwise good package.

  • Claimed battery life up to 3.8 hours. Seems a bit low.

    • Very similar to my 9750H, they are power hungry processors that run hot.

    • Reviews say this one defaults to dedicated GPU only at all times, although it has integrated graphics and can be enabled through BIOS which will increase battery life

      • +1

integrated graphics are often turned off in laptops to help prevent throttling of cpu. It can use an extra 15watts which the CPU laptop cooling may not be made to handle

This is a good price for a solid gaming laptop!

  • Help a dodo out… need something for cyber security/study purposes… this seems to to fit the bill, any other recommendations before I commit to this?

I have price protection on my credit card so not really fussed on price, just prefer at least 15" screen.

This is more of a gaming laptop so you may find battery life poor, considering the more power hungry H series CPU (compared to U series). Also consider weight - depends if you need portability. But otherwise this is great value, which I'm sure will handle anything you throw at it.

    • Fine if you are studying or working from home but if you are taking your laptop out with you, perhaps consider a Lenovo Yoga Slim or X-series as they are more portable. X series only come in 13.3 inch variants, while Yoga goes up to 15 inch.

E-series is the Essential series (made with cheaper materials) which can be found typically for less than $1k and comes in 14/15 inch variants starting 1.6 / 1.7KG. The main drawback though is that they tend to have dim 250 nit displays — unless you pick the touchscreen model in which case it's 300 nits.

      • This is a gaming laptop. People would be buying it because it has a dedicated GPU and a decent one at that. The models you linked only have integrated GPUs. They are completely different products

        • I know that. I've been using Lenovo's for more than a decade…

The user in question didn't want a gaming laptop. My recommendations were for something without a graphics card because a GPU decreases the overall runtime of the laptop and increases the bulk of the device.

          • need something for cyber security/study purposes
          • @scrimshaw: Yep sorry. Got out of sync and thought you were replying to the OP and not a comment! Carry on ;)

  • I have a similar machine (y7000) with same CPU.

Certainly powerful enough (I use it for webdev). Battery life is pretty miserable (under 2 hrs for dev work) and it's problematic to force the use of the integrated GPU (must restart).

Be warned: the power brick is a 230W behemoth, tipping the scales at almost 1kg.

Lenovo legion screens are incredibly thin and bezel a little too flexible making it prone to crack near the hinges when closing the laptop. Happened with my 4 month old Legion 5 laptop. Lenovo have the worst support and will always blame the customer (Customer Induced Damage) when it clearly isn't.

Just want to let anyone who is thinking of buying Lenovo to avoid at all costs, honestly they are cheap for a reason / always on sale for a reason.

  • Does anyone have the contact details of a Lenovo rep that actually responds?

Need a quote for 150-200 laptops… One of our requirements is touch screens so we can't just go with standard retail builds they offer (often they don't have the upgrade available).
