I'd prefer the black one to be honest, but I snagged one to hopefully use instead of the Fossil Sport I'm currently using which only has 512 mb RAM and gets seriously clunky when anything is happening in the background.

    • sold my Sport cos it was a slow dog

      • If I find something the same size and weight with 1 gig of ram for a decent price I'll definitely upgrade. Dunno if the Gen 5 Garrett is going to be a good daily driver for me due to the chunkiness.

Did you replace it with anything?

        • +1

Bought a Suunto 7 a few weeks back, and now this Garrett in this deal a few hours before you posted it here on OzB.

I have like five or six other older WearOs watches that I cycle between sometimes anyway.

  • +1

Nice find OP but it looks like there's only one on stock

    • +1

Ok, updated with the Fossil store as the main link

  • Shipping free to metro Melbourne when I checked.

  • +1

    Thanks OP, bought 1.

  • The dial looks interesting …

    • +1

I know…. might have to bust the black sharpie out.

  • This or an Amazfit GTR?
Anyone have any experience with both?

    • Amazfit GTR.

Better features and value - not to mention infinitely better aesthetics, in my humble opinion.

      • I have the Amazfit and decided to get this one. The Amazfit is pretty but WearOS is a selling point for me

        • What's the battery life like on amazfit? Is the 28 days they mention realistic?

    • Amazfit GTR if you don’t want anything specifically offered by WearOS. Battery life and looks of Amazfit is awesome, but lacklustre features.

      • what Bracelet did you add i cant find anything eligible item :(

        • +2

Sorry just checked and it looks like I might have got the last one :(
I'd recommend sorting the sale items low to high and see if you can find anything under $50

  • +1

Looks like water resistance is only 3ATM, not 5..

    • It says it is swimproof and has a 2 year warranty. Worth a shot I recon!

      • Where's the swimproof thing? I'd love if it was.

        • +1

It's not, on the website it says 3 ATM

"A depth rating of 3 ATM will withstand splashes in water. Your watch should not be worn swimming or bathing."

    • From amazon page:

Water resistant to 5 ATM: In general, suitable for short periods of exposure to water i.e washing hands or showering/bathing. Not suitable for recreational swimming, diving or snorkeling

      But, from the Fossil page:

      Water Resistance: 3 ATM

I'd go with the Fossil one.

      • Thanks mate, that's really useful.

  • Silly question but is it any good? Been thinking of getting an android wear watch for fun since I have both an iPhone and Galaxy device but I use an Apple Watch 4th gen.

    • If you have apple watch and if the battery still holding up.
Don't see the point in switching, unless you really want to go for that form factor.

    • +2

For any Android Wear watch, you need at least 1gb of RAM for it to run smoothly (which this has).

But if you want half decent battery life (aka a full days), you'd need the Snapdragon 4100 SoC of which there's only one on the market.

  • That's cheap, there I was thinking about getting the iWatch SE.
    Bought one of these instead.

  • +3

That is one ugly looking watch, even for a smart watch.

    • +3

      I mean, there's a reason it's going for $150, right? :)

    • +2

It's pretty hard to find looks and brains in the same package

  • -2

last time I have smart watch I couldn't see the reading because the reflection on the screen was so bad.

  • 46mm seems so big. A bit goofy looking. Can anyone comment? I was keen on the amazfit 47mm until measured my current watch which is only 36mm and not a ladies watch by any means.

    • Depends on your wrist size, my wrists are tiny so I don't go anything above 40-42mm at the most.. Im into automatic watches but size wise it'd be same concept even for a smart/quartz watch.

    • +1

subjective. i'm a man with tiny wrists and i still buy big-ass watches like Suunto 7 at the moment with 50mm. 41mm of my old Fossil Sport was too tiny like a toy, so 44/46mm is probably sweet spot.

    • +1

Guess it's a matter of what you're comfortable with and how big your wrist is. I love my 57mm Diesel watch.

  • +4

Thanks OP, bought 1 and Framed Shave Kit for $150.75 total.

    https://www.fossil.com/en-au/products/framed-shave-kit/MLG05…

You can also find other items which you can combine for a further 25% off.

    https://www.fossil.com/en-au/sale/

Buying 2 watches will end up being $225 if you need 2 for gifts etc.

And don't forget cashback with either Shopback or Cashrewards (5.6%).

    • +2

wow thats amazing i just did this too
i didnt get any popup for cashrewards though

      • +1

I got $11.26 tracked with Shopback for my order.

  • Does it have contactless pay? There is an asterisk that says "*Google Pay is available only in select markets."

    • I've got my Fossil Sport (gen 4 I think) set up with Google pay, but I haven't used it yet. So I'd guess so, but worth conforming.

I have been using google pay on my phone for ages, so I know that's available in Aus.

      • +2

        Correct, it does.

Google Pay has always worked for me on my WearOS watches here in Oz.

    • +1

Google Pay is available in Australia

  • And gone…

  • Just tried to order and all sold out

  • Updated with The Iconic as the main link.

    • +2

Iconic also out of stock now

      • Well, 3000 odd clicks aint bad :)

    • Iconic sold out too!

    • +1

Cheers, I think I managed to luck out on 1 at the Iconic. How long does it take for the order to process usually?

      • No idea mate, I got mine at Amazon before they sold out.

      • +1

Did you get a processing message as well?

Guess we'll find out when they check on stock

        • Order page has the orange processing mark. Haven't got a email yet (do they send emails for orders). I think I got my order in a few minutes before it went out of stock.

          • @VYCanisMajoris: Same. Fingers crossed

          • @VYCanisMajoris: Just got charged and got an order email

            • +2

@Windows98: My order dissapeared. Contacted customer support and they said that they had issues with payments going through. They offered to honour the price if it came back into stock. However like 2 minutes ago, i got the email and my order reappeared in the "packing" stage.

              • @VYCanisMajoris: Nice one. Mine says "packing" and "processing by partner"

Was also lucky enough to get the $20 sign up discount applied before paying which helps

  • +1

    Iconic also sold out.

  • Aaaaaand we're done. Mods, please tag appropriately, hope you all have a good day.

(I don't think I can tag it as sold out, right?)

    • Yes you can. Hit the expire button. Anyway, it's been done for you already.

      • Thanks, I'll know to look for it next time.

  • I guess, this was an unpopular SKU as the other's weren't on this sale. Don't know why though, the bezel reminds me of a diving watch that I can't remember off the top of my head. I think it looks cool.

    • The style definitely would have been more popular in the 90s, it's not exactly a subtle watch, but it also doesn't have too much punch to the design. The red and blue bezel one has more character (enough that a boring person like me wouldn't really wear it!) and the black version is much more understated. This kinda sits on the fence I guess and is clunky but unremarkable.

  • -5

    Can it monitor blood pressure?

    • Troll comment from your previous comment above?

  • +1

They are (were?) also on sale for that price on fossil website and in store. I just picked up the garret black stainless in store for $150.

  • +2

Great post. I managed to grab one before seeing your post. I guess it was OzB quick enough.

Question for those who already owned/will own one. Do you think getting a steel strap to replace the stock is a good idea?

  • -1

Interesting to read articles around whether Wear OS is on it's way out given the Fitbit acquisition… and whilst it is just an opinion piece, it does appear on a leading Android news website: https://www.androidauthority.com/google-fitbit-wear-os-11964…

I'm not sure if I have a strong view on this yet but am thinking it might be worthwhile to wait and see.

  • +2

Iconic just sent me a email saying they can’t fulfill it

    • Same here. Also sent me a 15% discount code but I’m on this website for a reason; I don’t want to pay designer prices lol.

Pretty disappointing that they accepted the order and charged us then force a refund :/

      • That sucks. I had a feeling that the iconic don't actually hold fossil stock. Orders are fulfilled by Fossil. One fossil website sold out, didn't think there would be more stock at the iconic. Probsbly website delay.

    • Ahhh, that sucks. If it's any consolation, I got mine from Amazon and the speaker doesn't work :(

      • I got mine from Fossil and the speaker doesn't work either. Ugh.

        • Sounds like a common issue…. Dammit.

          Did Fossil accept the refund?

          • +1

@julz15: Going to try and get a repair or replacement

            • @Darkscythe: Me too, I'd keep it even with the dead speaker at this price, but can't hurt to try for a replacement.

  • if anyone got one and does not want it anymore, please PM me and I will take it off you.

  • hahah they have refund my money no stock w tha hahah

  • Mine arrived first thing this morning. Not bad at all but the battery life isn't anything special. But I did order my one from Fossil direct.

  • +1

Mine just arrived. Thanks StarTrack for claiming that you can't leave the package, yet they did it anyway.

  • Lucky you guys yea i bought from Fossil too
