  • Great price.

  • Which is the better deal…this one…or the US based one?

Depends if you're going to use the other tools or not…the other one is better value as you're getting more tools (usually over $200 each for the saw skins) but if you're not going to use them, it's essentially a waste of money and you'd be better off with the local product.

Haven't looked at the specs but there's probably not a great deal of difference between the two drills and impacts if you're just a home handyman. They're both brushless so that's the main thing.

  • Noob home handyman here. I'm in the market for a "standard" 18V drill for around the house tasks my 12V Bosch isn't suitable for. Will this kit be sufficient, or are these too specialised to be used as a regular power drill?

    • +1

The hammer drill is good if you need to drill into masonry. The impact driver is for driving screws.

I tell ya what check out the AEG 12V drill set at Bunnings for $199 - I use these at work and they are great drills. You get a drill, impact driver, 2 batteries and a charger unit. Batteries charge from flat to full in 30min, so quick especially if you're on a job and get a flat - doesnt take long to juice up again. My mate got the Milwaukee 12V set as well which I think he paid $349 for, good drill as well but heavier and takes longer to charge. Dunno if they've come down in price but the AEG is bloody impressive

  • This sounds really cheap. I don't know about the exact models, but for 2xdewalt units, great price

Are these brushless versions? Sorry noob question

    • I'm invested in Makita but brushes are a breeze to change (if you ever need to!) don't let Iet that discourage you.

  • Looks like they're out of stock..

Same price I ended up paying for my ozito brushless pair. This is way better.
    Great deal

  • OOS

This is not a good one, non brushless, not as powerful as the drill and driver in that US deal (at least from the spec)

Better get the US deal, $260 more than this deal but you get Oscillating Multi-Tool and Reciprocating Saw which retails normally $400 for both (same model in bunnings)

Even though this is XR vs Atomic range?

    • +3

      Ummm these are both brushless?

  • both appear to be brushless

    • +4

Yes seems like my memory was wrong they are brushless, but the spec is actually lower than the drill and the driver in that US deal.

this driver is 170nm, but the driver in the US deal is 192nm
for the drill, both 340UOW and similar torque

So if you won't use the multi-tool and the saw then buy this is good price, but the multi-tool and the saw are so handy and they are the must have if you really want to do some DIY at home

      • 20v batteries and accessories are so hard to find in Aus. Keep this in mind.

  • +1

Atomic does not mean lower quality, Atomic is the range for compact size, more suitable in tight work space like roof or subfloor

      Good to know, cheers

good price for a quality brand

but they are entry level dewalt products.

  • Drat missed it….

  • If after tradies quality ones check your local cashies, my local has about 60 modern battery connection dewalts drills from 65.
It’s really easy to see the difference in models but all have same battery plug

    • check ebay, lots of tradies sell their excess skins from bundles on ebay

fwiw the dewalt DCD996 is a fantastic and their top of the range hammer drill. you can get them brand new on ebay for $200

    • +3

I'd rather not buy stolen tools….

  • +1

I got the DCD996 combo kit (close to new from a tradie friend, with 2 5Ah batteries, almost 40% off Sydney Tools marked price), impressed with its power and built quality. Did the drilling job well on red brick walls (a quote for 4 curtain rods cost 200+ on airtasker, WTF? just buy the tool and DIY). Will buy a brushless impact driver to make it a set. Will get rid of all other cheap tools as I am using them more often.
