    expensive?

    • Yep - a decent eye fillet at a butcher is $50-$60kg at most, and you don't have to buy in bulk if you don't need 2kg

  • What’s a tenderloin (except in chicken)? Do you mean eye fillet? Or is this some different type of cut?

    • Beef tenderloin:

A beef tenderloin (US English), known as an eye fillet in Australasia, filet in France, Filet Mignon in Brazil, and fillet in the United Kingdom and South Africa, is cut from the loin of beef.

What's the normal price of these. You had them at $35/kg in a previous deal.

    • +6

1.8/2 kg for $69.99 plus $10 delivery back in July 2020 - cal it $40 kg delivered if you actually got 2kg.

I understand that there has been a rise in meat prices but it remains hard to see how it has jumped so far. This so called deal is $49.50 a kg plus delivery ($20.00 for under 50 km in NSW) - call it $59.50 a kg delivered.

      No bargain here.

Thought these were lungs for a second, get some less heart-stopping images next time please…

I agree, only savages eat meat

Then why did you click on the deal if you don't like (delicious nutritious) meat.

        • You are correct, grass fed is more nutritious for a number of reasons (eg better omega 3/6 profile), but grain fed tastes better to me.

and to all the lay persons, a tenderloin is called an eye fillet in Australia.

        • Never said I don't like meat. I just said they looked like lungs. Human lungs, to be more specific, esp. only from the thumbnail

Serious question, how do you feed grass to a tenderloin?

    • Very slowly

  • Wait, am I on ozbargain?

This deal is overpriced, quote "not a deal"

  • +1

No info on producer or where it comes from. This is mystery meat. If it was say O'Connor or Jack Creek etc. Then maybe a deal.

    2kg = Good start
Grass Fed Beef = As it should be
Tenderloin = Losing me here with non Australian vernacular
$99 = Lost me here @ $49.50kg unless it is Eye Fillet of the Gods
+ Delivery = OMG taking the Mick now

  • As already stated, taking the micky here. Not even close to a deal.

  • +1

2kg for $99 is not a deal and barely a good price on a bad day.

  • Better value IMO
