The og air?
It looks a lot like an iPad Air 3 - it has a slightly smaller screen but the same A12 chip and a less fancy non-laminated, non-true-tone display. The front (FaceTime) camera is also a bit archaic at 1.2MP.
The bezel is intentionally made thicker for the iPad, especially at the top and the bottom edge. Also the sound quality is much different in between - again, Apple's intention to differentiate them.
In the meantime, Apple is making the new iPad Air as an "iPad Pro Killer" by introducing some "Pro" features to the iPad Air, truetone, larger screen & USB C etc.
Plus currently there is another big gap of free Airpods to the iPad Air, but not to the iPad …
Yes, agree on the bezel but 10.2" or 10.5" is not that big of a difference. I think it's a pretty good iPad with many years of iOS support, so much better than the iPad 7th Gen (A12 vs A10).
as we all suspect officeworks doesn't like little profit selling this. Thus why they make you the difficulty of calling and selling your case for $30 off..
not if you call 1300 OFFICE. Store managers like to play the game and make up random rules that don't exist.
20 mins on the phone was all it took. Almost didn't make it through the call. It was very tough!
Space grey is listed for $499, the gold and silver are listed at $479.
Can I mention the 🐘 in room?
32gb? Specs read like a $50 burner from Coles.
I agree, 32gb is definitely not what I'd buy for myself. The iPad bought on behalf of a family member whom 32GB and how they will use it (streaming only, browsing, iMessage and Facetime) will be more than enough.
Yes, in fairness, I was saying it a little tongue in cheek.
Indeed, with streaming of audio and video, storage is paradoxically less of an issue it was 10 years.
Still, a bit cheeky of Apple to persist with 32gb in 2021!
Probably the cheapest A12 device you can find though - would beat most tablets out there if you can live with very little local storage.
Agree. It is still manageable and you need to use Cloud drive to save stuffs lol.
Got the pricebeat by calling Officeworks. Thanks guy!
out of interest to those that own these, in the real world, side by side with say an air, is there really any noticeable diff worth the large price mark up?
