        if you google "samyang hot chicken big bowls woolworths" and click the links in google ads, you will see the prices and they seem to become available online as well.

        • Thanks mate! Really enjoy them!

    2-minute noodles are 60% better

    • 3 minute here in QLD, no daylight savings…

  • If you have some time, a good documentary on Netflix regarding the cutthroat world of Korean noodles - KKondae Intern. :P

    Little recipe I've been using for these when making them for the partner.

    -Add chicken stock cube, broth mix, garlic and onion powder, a Table spoon of good quality honey and any additional spice.

    Really adds alot to a already good quality instant noodle. Fried egg optional but preferred.

      I've added in the past tofu, kransky, garlic, shitake mushrooms, onion powder and gyoza just to name a few. Naturally some spam(careful of sodium count rising :P) and cheese are even a Korean standard.

      Experimenting is a fun and rewarding activity when customising a dish to suit your tastes.

      P.S I should try some of the ramen and other assorted broths I bought too….

    Just bought a 20 pack box from Costco yesterday, around $15 I think

    Nissin Ramen IMO now better choice, comes with 3 different flavors

    • I had the Tokyo one but it was really horrible.. havent tried the other flavours though.

      • Kyushu Black would be ok I reckon

    There is a 'light' version of Shin Ramen (light in terms of calories) which is WAY better than the regular one.
    I don't like this regular version but love the light version.

    • +1

      Is it less spicy ?

      • No its got the same spicy level but the broth is way way better.

    • +1

      i hate the noodles in the light one….

      I enjoy the chewiness + bounciness of the original one

      • Correct. The black label version of these are the best. Extra broth powder and better freeze dried veg packet.

    10/10 would eat and poop my pants again. I eat these bad boys like 3 times a week and the agony my soyboy stomach endures is always a small price to pay for unadulterated perfection in spaghetti form. When one respects the noodle, the noodle respects you

    I can't believe you pansies think Shin is too spicy and/or flavorless, I wonder what you would would make of the Samyang Buldak instant noodles, let alone the 2x and 3x variants — double dare you to try ;)

  • The first time I had these I couldn't finish a packet because they were too spicy.
    I persisted and got used to it. By the time I finished the 5 pack I enjoyed the spice.

    Absolutely no one asked for this BUT, here's how I 'level-up' my shin ramyun.

    Replace the water you would use with any soup stock;
    pre-soak dried shiitake mushrooms beforehand with boiling water and use the water as part of your soup base (or keep it handy in the fridge);
    add a tablespoon of tomato paste;
    a knob of butter;
    dash of mushroom powder;
    a smidge of tom yum paste;
    a teaspoon of miso paste.

    Add your favourite protein, and veg.

    Shred some cheese just before your serve.

    Top up with some kimchi.

    Overkill? Yes. Tasty? Yep.

    • That is not instant 🤔😅

      • I chuck the ingredients in during the time it takes for the water/stock to boil.

        Again, overkill. 😅

  • The best time to stock up these instant noodles when they're on special 5pk for $3.

    • So you could be waiting 2 years?

  • This Nong Shim Shin Ramen is the best…if you don't like a sachet flavour add your own version.
