  • Nice price for bricks and mortar store.

I have a pair of these - love them - beautiful sound

  • Any ideas which ANC headphones would be the best for blocking out people talking?

I usually put music louder but that can't be good for me.

    • This and the Sony are the two favourites

      • Bose 700 and Bose QC35 II are very similar. QCs have better microphone. While ANC level is comparable: Noise Isolation: Sony WH-1000XM4 vs Bose QC35 II, I definitely prefer Bose's sound profile: Frequency Response: Sony WH-1000XM4 vs Bose QC35 II. I tried them at JB and Sonys sounded weird, while QC35 had really nice and deep bass. I picked QCs and I'm very happy.

I do not believe the QCs have a better microphone than the 700 from reading reviews online.

@emphaticus: I think they got the wrong way around 700s have active noise cancellation on the MIC, and the microphones are very directional.

It will only pick up me talking normally and not anyone else in the same room which is really impressive when WFH.

            • @811b11e8: Could you please elaborate?
I'm considering Bose 700 and QC. Mic quality for phone calls is important for me

@Averell: 700 has a better mic than QC35 is what he means.

          • @emphaticus: Yeah, you're right I read a lot of reviews and I mixed them with Sony, sorry guys. Bose 700 VS Sony XM3 VS Bose QC35 II

      • Airpods Max are good too. If the bank will let you put it on your mortgage.

Love the Sony model but these are more comfortable IMO

    • +1

%110. No one talks about comfort but it's actually a significant difference between the Bose 700 and the Sony's.

  • In terms of sound and built quality, how does this compared with apple airpod max?

    • +1

Build quality is definitely with the AirPods Max, they're made of aluminium and stainless steel as opposed to plastic. Sound quality is probably debatable but most reviews say AirPods Max sound better. Best to try them out yourself!

      • -2

Disagree on your comment re: the build quality, as the bose 700 are primarily made of stainless steel. Both headphones have plastic components, with the bose containing plastic as part of the headband, which I've found very comfortable.

        • +1

AirPods Max are entirely made out of metal except for the headband. The housing is aluminium and the stems are stainless steel with good weighting on head adjustment that makes them feel premium. Once again most reviews have definitely given AirPods Max the edge on build quality, although Bose is not that far behind.

"All told, the AirPods Max build and design is undeniably Apple at its best. There is no question these are the most premium in feel and appearance, fully justifying their outlay."

This is not true. Even the silver one which looks metal. It's just a coating of paint.

you dont know what you are talking about mate

Build quality is definitely with the AirPods Max, they're made of aluminium and stainless steel as opposed to plastic.

The result of that steel is that they weigh about 51% more. They will also scratch, and that shitty bra case you get, you have to use because putting it into that case is the only way to turn them into low power mode (they can't be turned off because there's no power button).

Those magnetic ear pads look comfy but will absorb your sweat and won't be easy to clean. And do they really need to be magnetic? How often do you find yourself removing the pads on your Bose/Sony?

Only Apple can put volume control in a little dial at a place you have to fumble for. On top of that, for the price of a Max, you can buy an XM4 and a 700 and still have some change left over.

        • Regarding the low power point, Apple has since clarified that the case isn’t required to get them into a low power state - it just lowers the timeout threshold. Still not as ideal as a proper off switch though.

          • @Cobertizo: People have tested this. Without the case it stays on, and you lose more charge overnight than with the case.

A proprietary case that reduces drain is a typical Apple idea.

    This or xm4?

Go to a JB and try them both. That's gonna be the best answer for you. Both are highly regarded.

More for the fit, I find Bose demo kiosks particularly misleading though.

    • Any idea what category under CR or Shopback this falls under?
