  • Bought my first Normcore last week. Haven't tried the coffee yet but disappointed to see the bags are not resealable.

    • I ordered only 2 weeks ago, and many times before and they've always been resealable with the rippa pull tab on the back that reveals it?

Wonder if they've changed bags recently.

I've been reusing their coffee bags (250g) to store my beans. Its much easier to dose from a 250g bag than a 1kg one.

      Hello Leyton01!
We have always been using resealable bags since day 1. :)
      Hope there was something misunderstood.
      Have a great day!

      • I'll double check when I open - I just could not feel the seal at all. I examined the bag closely as my entire post box smelt of (admittedly delicious) coffee and I was wondering if the bag was torn to have that much smell coming out of a sealed bag.

        • Can't edit my old comment with an update - sorry about that! At least people know now they are resealable before they buy ;)

          All good mate!
As soon as the coffee is roasted, the gas(CO2) is released from the bean. And when the beans are stored in a bag, the CO2 is escaping from inside out through the valve that is attached to the bag. That's why you could smell the coffee aroma.
Hope you enjoy the coffee! :)

          • @normcorecoffee: @normcorecoffee Nope, not a resealable bag. In fact the bag itself was not sealed correctly in the middle and air could just go in and out. This explains why it smelt so strongly of coffee when all other coffee I have ordered and has been sealed properly have not had such a strong smell in the post box.

Important for me as I am the only one in our house who uses the beans and I struggle to get through them in 6 weeks. A good seal is useful for extending the life and keeping them drinkable.

I thought you had always used resealable bags since day 1?

Pics (there is no ripper tag on the back or any resealable component):

            • @leyton01: Hello again! So sorry, it was my mistake! I thought you were talking about our retail 250g bag which is a resealable one.
You are right, the 1kg bags are not resealable as this is normally sold to cafes and heavy users. My apologies for the miscommunication. For next time, it would be better if you get 4 of 250g bags, just in case you are drinking for a few weeks.
For the bag that you already opened, I would suggest you store the bean in any kind of sealable container.
To keep it fresher, it is also recommended to store the beans in the freezer.
Again, sorry for the miscommunication. And hope you enjoy the rest of the coffee!
              Kind regards,
