Officeworks Price Beat after Purchase?

I purchased something at Officeworks and used their price beat. Now, a couple of days later, the item is on an even better sale elsewhere.

Has anyone had experience with Officeworks in going back to get a partial refund based on a new price beat? I am thinking it could be done with change of mind policy; return the item and re-purchase it but is there a simpler way to do it?

How much did you initially pay for the Macbook?

  • Some Credit Cards have Price Protection…

    • I did think about that but the first price beat is better than new advertised sale price. I didn't think price protection covered the extra bonus of price beat.
Also, do any cards not require a catalog? When I checked my card would do price protection on catalog items only. They told me the lower advertised price had to be in an actual physical printed catalog.

  • I'd make sure they have another one in stock before doing the return, if you need this computer either way.

I would just return and buy again.

If you already opened it and "changed your mind" it would be a dick move.

  • I did this, but with an unopened item. They said i couldn't, but then I was just returned and repurchased

If you can get it through on a change of mind policy, then fair enough.

But in the more general sense, consider the other perspective … if a business sold you something and then a couple of days later decided to up the price and asked you for an extra $50, what would you do?

    • this is Officeworks not some small electronics shop

    • Yeah, this is the reason I ask if there is something simpler. I was wondering if they had a price guarantee similar to JB or TGG, in which case it's all good.

      • What did they say when you asked them?

        • Havent asked yet, wanted to know more information before asking them directly. Might give them a call later on.

  • How much are we talking about?

    • Like $50.

      • you could buy accessories with that kinda money.

        $50?

Not chump change, but not worth all the hassles.

You got a good price at the time.

Yeah it doesn't work like that. Its not a endless price beat thing. Its at the time of purchase.

I did think about that but the first price beat is better than new advertised sale price

Ok so we are only talking a few dollars here. Move on. Enjoy your item.

      we have a winner.

  • go buy the item again with the pricebeat then use the original receipt to return it pocket the difference

    • They put a serial number on the receipt.

      • what sort of item was it a phone?

  • All these hassles over $50? There are more important things in life than going through all these troubles for just $50.

    • It's worth $50 if it's a straightforward go in to store, explain, price re-check, swipe card, leave.

Dunno about you guys but wonder who's saying it's not worth the hassle now in 2024, money is pretty tight except for the elite right now.

I just realised I rushed out without trying to price match for lower and I definitely missed out after checking around, my haste was due to it being closing time almost and didn't want to make them any later but having said that. I'm on a disability pension so 50 bucks is 50 bucks to me any time not just during times like 2024 with huge inflation. Did you find out the answer I got lost in the it isn't worth 50 bucks comments bud 😂
