Suitable for a kayak on my RAV4 GX?

      Suitable for my kayak?

It’s more suitable for Toyota RAV4

    • Watch out, the GX is missing the flush black rails. Often needs a special clamped version I think.

        Shame Toyota shame!

      Came here for kayak reference

That's what I came here for. Thanks

    • She lives!

  • How do these compare to the traditional brands out there (pro rack, rhino racks, yakima etc)

    • +1

I personally wouldn't go with these but that doesn't come with experience with either selection of racks. Having gone through a purchase with this seller, the quality of that product could leave a fair bit to be desired.

Although the standard has since been withdrawn, reputable manufacturers mention Australian Standards AS1235-2000 and testing to those standards. The testing method would help to compare the maximum load claims between products offered in the market.

      • Thanks for the detailed reply. Probably saved me a considerable amount of time and potential headache!

        • +1

I'd also recommend going with a reputable brand such as the ones you've listed (I prefer thule from my experience), since you want something that'll be reliable as well as safe especially on the freeway.

        • Many top brand's quailty is good, though you paid for the brand not the product, most brand don't have their own factory, their prodcuts are also OEM products made by other factories. These factories uses similar material and technics, produce similar quality products with favorable prices under their own factory name.
