  • Does anyone know if this will work with an M1 MacBook Pro?

Am I right in saying that it will run at 4k@60hz but the USB hub will only be USB 2? I’m so confused and am struggling to know if this is a good choice for me.

I’m using comments from here as reference.

    • I see what you mean by the confusing information.

My understanding is that you have basically a USB C hub on the monitor but if you use your Mac for video and power delivery then the hub features in the monitor are disabled.

      • There in lies the million $ question…. disabled or limited.

Limited would be fine as I only want to plug in a USB KB and mouse

      • Thanks btw!

  • Will this be overkill for an RBPi 4? Looking to make a basic internet/streaming machine, but maybe a 4K display would be too much for the Pi

    • +1

No the pi 4 can handle it depending on the OS image

  • 350 nits. Pretty dim no?

    • Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe most cheaper 4k monitors/panels are around the same brightness.

      350 is good

220 is bottom usable brightness in dimly lit conditions
250 is acceptable but not great
300 is comfortable in any room with any lighting though you will struggle sitting next to a window with lots of light coming through
350 gives you more headroom in terms of brightness
400 and up is outdoor usage suitable (not direct sun)
      1000 is direct sun readable
5000000 will set nearby forest on fire

      • Fantastic summary thanks

    • Max is 450 nits.

  • What is the difference between this and S2721Q?

  • I just finished setting up this monitor and it's great. I bought an additional USB-C cable ($15 Kmart) to run it all through a single port, and can attest that the USB hub works with this option.

Skycomp was great too. I purchased the monitor on thursday and received the monitor on friday. Saves waiting months on Dell.

    • It comes with one USB-C cable but why do you need an addition USB-C cable?

      • I read that the included USB-C cable wasn't rated high enough to power the USB Hub and charge a Macbook at the same time. But I've just tried it and it seems to be working fine.

I'll check next time time and save myself $15

    • That's fast. The price is now $20 higher but it's saying 6-8 weeks due to COVID…,

  • Now $599
