    Thanks BA, got one :-)

  • 2000A showing as $40 off with coupon 5RVQGERP https://www.amazon.com.au/GOOLOO-SuperSafe-Starter-Battery-P…

While not the cheapest ever I'd definitely spend the few extra dollars for the 2000A model.

    • +3

Why would you get the 2000A when the 1500A, going by the specs, will jump start just about every vehicle that you're likely to come across? Genuine question, there might be something I'm missing.

      • -3

        may be overkill feel better?

        • HOPED they would bring more 4000A, had to settle with 2000a from last deal,

Good so far, just had to warm up the engine a few times tho, from cold start/back in winter

On paper and in a perfect world you're right. In reality though batteries degrade over time, plus people stick these in their hot cars and forget about them while they discharge a % each month and go to start their car and it's got 1 battery bar.

Also cars dont always start first crank, i've jumped cars with other issues like fuel, wiring etc which has taken several cranks to get going. Also the 2000A unit has bigger and more sturdy battery clamps and cables, plus the unit is a power bank too so extra capacity is always good.

          Thanks, good points.

      • 1500A won’t do V8 engines

        • What capacity V8? I’ve got the Gooloo 800A version and it starts my 6 litre V8 fine. It’s rated to 6 litre petrol too. Also kept in my car for 6 months without any battery drain.
This version being nearly twice as powerful wouldn’t have a problem starting a V8.

      • To jumpstart a Delorean.. Moar giggawattz!

    • 149.99 for the 4000A with code CO7EKF3J https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07TDH3Y5M. Is this worth it?

      Thanks OP.

Had bought the 1500A previously but got the 2000A one this time round. Thanks for convincing me @LowRange

  • Anyone bought the battery charger and care to comment? Comparable to Ctec?

Interested to know where to get the cigarette lighter to use to power other devices… ;)

    • I made up a cable - with parts from Jaycar - to plug into the 15V outlet. I use it to power my Engel fridge on road trips.

      • How long does the pack last when powering your fridge? Interested as I might buy one.

        • -1

I'm not sure how long it would last but the longest I've run it for is about 10 hours. I reckon you'd get more than that if running the fridge at a fairly low cooling setting.

I have 3 of these packs. On a trip I'll take 2, with 1 powering the fridge and the other fully charged (or charging) in case of emergency.

            @R4: 10 hours on 1500A one?

          • @R4: I get that these are portable, but given that you've spent ~$250 on battery packs, wouldn't a 12v battery box have been a better option?

    • In a similar deal last year, I ordered 2 of the 1500A for wife and brother in law for christmas and one of the 2000A for myself. I also bought from Amazon, 2 cigarette lighter cables.
      https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B07B9GKML1?psc=1&ref=ppx_p…
When I received the products, I opened the wive's 1500A and found a cigarette lighter plug inside with contents and thought it was mistake. Opened the 2000A and no luck there. At Christmas, my brother in law opened his and also contained a cigarette lighter cable.
Not sure if it is standard and they havent updated the contents or just random coincidence, but thought I would share my experience.
As for the units themselves, only used as a powerbank which has worked well but have not needed to jump start yet.

      • Got the 1500A last deal (about a month ago) and bought a cigarette lighter plug at the same time only to find the same thing that the 1500a came with it.

      • +2

Dont use this cable with the GooLoo as it will blow anything you connect to it.

        https://www.amazon.com.au/Cigarette-Lighter-Adaptor-Battery-…

If you look closely at the connections and/or test with multimeter you'll quickly see the polarity is reversed thus causing whatever you connect to it to short out.

    • I think I got the cigarette lighter attachment included, but which hole does it connect with?

  • +1

I have the 2000. It's very good! Holds it charge well and does the job. Well built.

  • Do you plug the clumps to the car battery then to jump starter or first to Jump starter then to the car battery.

    • i reckon either would be fine, more safer to plug red first then black, then remove black first then red .. smth like that

When my car battery was dead over the weekend (10.1v regardless of how I charge it), I drove my car to the nearest supercheap with GOOLOO 1500A attached.

The experience was like driving an electric car. The engine stopped every time the car is idle, e.g. in front of red light. I had to time myself during driving to minimize the chance of getting a red light. Finally, I got myself to the shop after 5 to 6 restarts. The driving experience was terrible, but the power bank usage was good.

I thought the alternator kicks in after you start the engine and that then powers the cars electrical system. Something wrong with your alternator as well?

    • Looks like something wrong with your alternator.

    • +3

might have been wiser to call roadside assistance in circumstances like that. Don't think its safe to be driving a car that conks out at every traffic light….

    • Uh, an engine should still be able to run even if you remove the battery after starting, you have a problem with your alternator

      • I thought the same, the car should run without a battery once started. Battery is there is smooth and voltages. But not in my case. Maybe the alternator is too small or faulty.

        • I hope you had your alternator checked out after replacing your car battery.

          • @DoctorCalculon: Thanks, will do.
I will update the thread with result if the thread is not locked yet.

How many watthours do these hold? I can't see any capacity figures anywhere, other than some comparisons go how many times it can charge a device. iPAD just 1 times apparently for the 1500A unit. That's not a lot of juice is it…?

    • Not that much, they typically have a few high current 18650 cells inside

    • Its right there in the specs, its a 15000mAh power bank

      Portable Charger
15,000mAh Backup Power Bank with Quick Charge - Equipped with Dual QC3.0 Output, this battery jump starter can fully charge your cellphones, tablets, kindle and other devices at lightning speed.

  • I know off topic but can anyone recommend a compressor for the car? Should be able to fill suv tyres. Thanks

    • For a budget compressor the Kings Double Thumper, for an up market one the ARB single for around $400 or the double for around $600.
