  • Would you have a promo for the 3 x devices Antivirus as well?

    • +1

Not at the moment, but I will ask the management team.

      • Thank you so much! I'm looking forward to receiving some updates :) Thanks again

        • +3

Dear customer, just get a confirmation from the team that ESET Internet Security includes all features of ESET Antivirus. So it covers everything ESET Antivirus does.

    • +1

silly Q - doesnt this include anti virus anyways?

      • Yes. Internet Security is a far more superior product. ESET NOD32 is very basic and crude.

        • For the downvoters. I was formally Associated with ESET on OzBargain when I was involved with the company. I know their products well 😉

NOD32 is your basic antivirus. It lacks network protection, antispam, banking/payment protection, botnet protection, firewall and parental controls. It hasn't been pushed in partner channels for years and the price difference for resellers is next to nothing.

  • what happens if you install it on more than 3 devices?

Is it maximum of 3 devices online at the same time, or is it 3 installs, period?

How intrusive is it? By intrusive I mean, it constantly pops up asking for your permission, or reporting some app is trying to access the internet. That is annoying. KIS is doing that to me now and I want out even though I have a year left.

How big is the impact on performance?

I bought one anyway just to try. But now that I think about it, it's not all that cheap. $5 for one year, not two. It's comparable to Saveonit deals.

    • +1

-Will take 3 devices and license expires in 12months when after the first device has been registered/activated
-ESET is not intrusive at all. It is unnoticeable when it is installed

    • It's low on system resources, but they removed the option to disable uac prompts on firewall rules some time back. I stopped using it for this reason alone as it got very annoying with constant uac prompts.

      • It doesn't do this if you set it to automatic mode. Then you'll only rarely get a prompt

      • The pop ups are if you want to manually teach it to customise. You can just set it to automatic.

  • Do they stack?/Have expiry?

    • It usually doesn't stack - I once had 5 years deal come in as 5 x 1 year license and every time when I apply new one, it removes the previous one

      • New licence every year? So it is no renewable

    • It's subscription-based, you may renew it later if you want after 12 months

      • and that means I can buy 3 and use it for 3 years? or do they expire before I am able to renew each year?

        • Interested to know. Well, can't be certain until next yr.

  • Do I still need this or any other Anti Virus/Internet Security product on the market rather than relying only with Windows Defender?

    • +3

If you don't do anything crazy, windows defender is fine. If you do crazy stuff, nothing will help you.

Caveat: if you know nothing about technology, then you should get one of these over the top AV apps for all your devices.

      • How will this help you if nothing helps?

        • +1

There will be so many pop ups and blocks that your will give up.

      • Windows defender doesn't pick up everything. Even if you don't do anything crazy, you still need a good security/AV software.

        • No av picks up everything…… Defender has rated pretty damn well.

    • No, you haven't for a long time

      • It's crazy how easy it used to be to get viruses on windows. Or maybe it's just because I actually check the comments first before I download torrents now.

        • People torrent still?

          • @onlinepred: Ssssshhh!

          • @onlinepred: wrong person

            • @xentar: I share accounts with friends, I pay $19 a month and get Foxtel, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Disney+, Youtube Plus. I can see people who don't want to pay for products will always torrent, I don't agree with it, but they will always be there. The only things I ever torrented, were things I couldn't get legally easily.

          • @onlinepred: I can't see it going away unless it's replaced with another easy popular decentralized maybe with some added security features. The rise of the steaming companies is making the service model Netflix had uncontested for long turn into a fragmented mess like cable. Hopefully they come up with a vrv styled service that has everything and a reasonable pricing structure where you pay for what you watch (tiered pricing - lower tiers will hit a wall and pay more to continue maybe? What you watch determines the allocation of your sub.

My mum signed up for one month (which means until she remembers to cancel) to watch one (bad) show or movie a few times on a few different services in 2019/2020. LG doesnt have vpn or other useful androidtv things as far as I could see, so I got her the chromecast+android tv thing and a vpn for xmas. The UI isn't quite what I was hoping for - I wanted to have widgets and shit so its idiot proof to switch country, have vanced default etc. but hipefully it works. Most of the shows she watched were on her netflix or amazon video - just not in this region.

    • Yes. You do.

  • @OP, Does ESET Internet Security work on both Mac & Windows?
Does it work on Android &/or iOS?

    • yes, it works on both MAC and Windows.

    • Yes, it works on Android too. I bought a three devices one last year, the code still works when I activated fifth device.

  • does the 1 year start from activation date or from purchase date??

    • 12 months starts from when you activate the license for the first device.

      • How long can you keep the box and not activate?

  • Grabbed one, Thanks. I wish there was a deal on a 5 device pack or we could purchase 2 of these at the discounted price as I still need 2 more licenses.

    • Can't you just use another email address for a new account and buy a second?

      • Not really a deal if I do that as they charge for delivery if you don't have Amazon prime, but thanks for the suggestion.

        • Is this a CD Version? Or downloadable?

  • Can install on windows and android?

    • -1

yes, it works on both MAC and Windows.

    • +1

      Works with android.

  • Is this a physical copy or the key only?

    • It's a physical copy

      • any problems if my address is a PO BOX?

        • +1

It should be fine but please double check with Amazon customer service as they will send the product out on behalf of us.

          • +2

            @HTDealAdmin: Can i use this in 2022?

  • +1

Someon had experience with these guys? Pros and cons?

    • +2

      It's $5 mate.

      • +2

It’s going to be installed on your computer mate.

        • +2

You download the software from ESET website, not HT.

      • It's $5 mate.

It's actually $4.90 bud, didn't have the chance earlier to research while at work and wanted to pull the trigger.

Its Ozbargain & every dollar counts (also internet security is kinda important) but you do you money bags McGee!

    • +1

I used them for a few years when ESET was still expensive, sometimes it would mess with my network but otherwise no problems.. Currently using Kaspersky but at this price I might go back to ESET for 12 months. :)-

    • +1

yes I have. They are pretty good, been using them for 10-15yrs now. Last year best price for 3 devices was A$8.80. Usually it is on special between $10-12-15. So this is an excellent price !! :)

      • A long long time ago you can get it for free for every each month with PC User mag.

        Also best IT magazine, ever.

        • yep, I used to reinstal every 30 days :D hahahaaa

    • I prefer ESET to Kaspersky, both are good, but ESET gives you more control over the firewall.

    • +1

I used this ESET exclusively for years, up until November. The only reason I changed was because I couldn't find a good deal.

It's not resource-intensive, frequent updates, and seemed to perform quite well. In 3-4 years my only gripe with it was it was occasionally a little over-protective (had to disable to do some stuff) and once it got stuck in an update loop which required a reinstall. Overall, I'll be picking it up this deal.

    • +1

Eset is one of the best. Award winning, highly rated, well known and respected worldwide for many years. At this price it's a no brainer.

  • As always do your own private research when reading into the below reports as your experience may vary greatly depending on your own PC/Laptop configuration.

  • The Kaspersky deal was great, 5 devices for 2 years.

    • +1

      $20 though

      • Right, I retract my statement this deal is better.

  • Hey op, I bought a 3060ti from Amazon recently but forgot to include the bonus anti virus into cart, any chance I can claim that?

    • Please contact Amazon customer service for help.

  • My ESET current expiry is in Oct 2021. If I buy this, can I keep the code until my current one expires and use it to extend for another 12 months?

    • +1

      Yes

  • I have this and it expires July this year. Can I add this on top of my current license

    • +1

Can't stack but when it expires you can activate with the new license.

  • Can i get it as digital copy?

    • Sorry, this offer is for physical copy only.

      • +1

physical copy meaning DVD or something ?

        • +5

probably a sealed sleeve with the key
wasteful to distribute discs with something that's always needing an update whenever you install it, and inconvenient for people without drives (eg laptop)

  • How much it would cost after the 12 month period?

    • remove the $20 discount and you get $24.90

      • Cheers mate.

  • Will this licence work in a different country?

    • Try VPN to change your location in Australia for activation maybe?

    • Australian keys need a VPN with Australian server. I've done it before.

      • What happens if you travel?

        • Use a VPN with an Australian server, worked for me.

    • Thanks everyone.

  • Nice deal, might try it for that price. Just out of curiosity, what would this do that Windows 10 Security wouldn't? Thanks.

  • I have been using Nod32 Internet Security / NOD 32 AV for the past 10+ years. It works well.

I find it good - very little CPU overhead compared to other AV programs.
