D-Link COVR-2200 AC2200 Seamless Mesh Wi-Fi System $278 + Delivery/Pickup @ Harvey Norman

170

I was looking for a Wi-Fi mesh system and came across this deal. Given its tri-band connectivity, good reviews and the price, might be a good option.

JB has it for $499 but you can get the price matched.

The D-Link AC2200 Seamless Wifi System is a convenient, easy to set up solution for enjoying fast wired/wireless network connectivity throughout your home for smooth gaming or streaming.

Key Features
Featuring tri-band connectivity, the D-Link AC2200 Seamless Wifi System lets you enjoy fast streaming, downloading, or browsing with wireless network speeds of up to 2200Mbps*. Its third separate band is dedicated for its 5GHz Smart Backhaul feature, providing reliable connectivity between Covr Points.
Powerful amplifiers and 6 internal antennas combine in the AC2200 Wifi system to deliver reliable wireless network connection for areas covering up to 560 sq.m in size.
With MU-MIMO technology, this seamless Wifi system provides uncompromised wireless network speeds to multiple connected devices simultaneously.
The AC2200 seamless system uses a single wireless network name (SSID), allowing you to stay connected to the network even when moving to different areas in your home.
The D-Link Covr Seamless Wi-Fi System can be configured with the free D-Link Wi-Fi app** on your mobile device or through an intuitive web-based interface, making it easy to set up.
For eliminating congestion in the connection, the D-Link AC2200’s Smart Steering feature automatically connects your connected devices to the optimal band.

  • How is this compared to TP-Link Deco M5?
Looks like a great price btw!

    • +2

This is comparable to the Deco M9. Both are AC2200, trip band with a dedicated 5ghz channel for wireless backhaul. M5 is only dual band AC1300.

      • +1

To add to that the Deco M9 is 4x4 MU-MIMO and the Deco M5 and COVR is 2x2 MU-MIMO.

I like the Decos slim power supply that takes up 1 power point. I dislike the COVR bulky side ways mounted power supply that can take up the space of 2 power points.

  • Thanks OP - Bought one based on the reviews

    hmmm this or google nest…

    • I would recommend google Nest, although it has got its own drawbacks, it is simple to set up, I am currently using a combination of Gen1 and Gen 2 nest routers with an HFC NBN on Gigabit connection. I get around 550 on wifi when connected on 5Ghz.

  • How this would compare to the Gateway F@AST 5366 TN router? (which we currently use in conjunction with a plug-in Netgear 'powerline' extender.)
We're just about to transfer from Optus Cable to superloop NBN, HFC (we have hideous internet/wifi, constant drop outs but it's a long house, walls and different levels) and unsure if we should buy a new router or utilise the old Gateway (which prior to that we had a TP-Link Archer C9 until it got fried during a storm - tbh, didn't see much difference between the 2 routers).
Or is there a much better router to be had for around $300-400?

This would be heaps better than your existing router & extender. This is a AC2200 mesh wifi with dedicated wireless backhaul channel. I have a similar system (Deco M9) and it has eliminated all the dead spots in my house and I can finally fully utilise the 150/75 broadband I have.

If you have a big house or 2 story, then you may be better off getting a mesh router with 3 devices.

        Thanks so much

  • Purchased. Thanks OP. I was looking to pick up the M5 system, but nabbing this for almost the same price is even better.

  • Tempted but some mixed reviews on amazon for this system. Does anyone know if the deco m9 would be similar ir better (or even the deco m5 system for a single storey house). Telstra nbn 100mbs download plan

I have three of these units. NOT recommended. Specs are good on paper for the price range when on special but they are not stable at all. I have to reboot every one of them on a weekly basis. Also the phone app is one of the worst I’ve ever used.

    • Thanks for the feedback. In case you have some time at hand, Can you please reply to a few questions:
Do you have AC2200 or the dual-band one?
How big is your house in sqm?
How long you have been using these?

  • The AX1800 is on its way out and would explain this price drop.
