  • I also used a logitech keyboard, I plugged the Unifying receiver into one of the USB port, and it worked flawlessly.

  • By the way isn't this their normal price?

  • Just unpacking the 58 inch version of this.

First note, bright as (profanity). Definitely edge lit.
If you are going to peel the little sticker off the remote, heat it up first or have something ready to remove the glue residue.

So far looks nice, feels responsive. No obvious bright spots on the TV, though the edges almost have a slight halo effect all round. Might be fixed when I lower the brightness

    • It's direct led as per the konka q7 specs (exact same model, just rebranded).

Setup was fine. Attempts to install a redundant CNN channel app, forces you to install Ted channel and one other I didn't want.
Connected to my device, automatically selected to install a heap of apps I don't want on TV.

Smack next a couple times, couple redundant pages
Forces you to install a password/pin which doesn't allow 0000.

Built in Chromecast is off by default, so watch for that prompt.

Remote feels cheap, the whole back will go missing soon. Small lag from remote, not too bad. Terrible for entering text, otherwise fine for basic function.

Blacks are quite nice, looks like a chunk of the middle is a little brighter, not to bad for edge lit though. Image quality is great for this price, or anything under $2000.

      Will check console lag next.

Edit: input lag is a tad worse than my Samsung TV, game mode doesn't appear to help much.
Definitely not bad, but slightly noticeable. Might be obvious in first person shooter, but still playable.

Sound isn't too bad. Loud, lacks bass but perfectly fine.

All in all very happy with it. The edge glow in still colour image or the PlayStation menu is a little distracting, but I'm overly sensitive to that, and I don't see it during motion.

Android TV feels fast and responsive, very good.

Not bad for the N64 either. Comes with an rgb to av in adaptor which works nice. The screen didn't scale the games too nicely, but forced 4:3 is fine. Let's you set no scaling too - works great, but too small for my liking. Better than the hdmi upscale options maybe

      • Great review!
Any comments on HD sport like big bash?
And fast moving objects like cars etc.

        • Can't connect any TV services to it at the moment sorry. If I can find an aerial cable I'll move it to the lounge and check.

  • I don't seem to have any of the SBS channels in South Australia, but I only live a slight amount out of the city - does anyone else share this problem?

    Also don't have Channel 9 channels…

    Anyone?

Edit: False alarm - it appears I just had a crappy antennae cable. Switched and I now have more channels…

  • For those that like streaming Optus Sport - the Kodi plugin for Optus Sport seems to display matches much better than the official app.

Official app is quite a bit more juddery, Kodi plugin much smoother, especially at "best" quality.

Still only 720p max though, even though allegedly the Fetch box does 1080p for Optus Sports.

  • Bought one. Pretty happy so far, quality is great for the price. But how come I couldn't find Disney+ on the playstore, only come up with Disney Hotstar which I tried but error: please try again (MN-4010). Any idea guys?

    • It's definitely there - it was the first suggested/recommended app in the Playstore!

      • Yes its there but mine says Disney+ hotstar then when the app came up with error please try again mn4010. Any idea?

        • Your account is set to Indian I think. Figure that out and you'll be good.

  • Any stock in nsw?

  • I got one yesterday. I set up and then watched one movie. It is great for value. This morning, I tried to turn it on, no signal so far. I am not sure what happened. Anybody has the same issue? Thanks

No signal from the remote or tv antenna?

      • I tried to use remote but no signal from TV (black screen).

what about the buttons on the tv (underneath bottom left front), could try long press on the select button?
Or long press remote (don't know if it's such a thing but was on the Sony to force a reboot)

          • @G-rig: I pressed that button but no luck. I am not sure why I saw the red light there. Is it normal red light ? Thanks

            • +1

@zozuc: Yeah the red light is on all the time in standby mode. (would prefer if it was less dominant but that's nit picking). Means it's in standby at least?

Tried different batteries in the remote etc - could be faulty perhaps. Not sure what else to suggest other than support.

            • +1

@zozuc: Red light means that it is on standby - the TV is not switched on. Try using the buttons on the TV itself to switch it on and see if that works?

              • @systema: There is one button near by the red light. I tried to press that button but nothing happens. I also turned on by remote control but no signal. I cannot find others button on TV.

                • +1

@zozuc: just tried mine, one short press should turn it on (long press turn off).
the other buttons are the same one just directional toggles etc.

                  • @G-rig: I thought so but nothing happens. Do you see red light there?

              • @systema: Thanks mate. I removed 2 HDMI and it worked. I decided to take it due to your knowledge on this TV.

        • +1

you could try casting something to it from your phone, and see if anything happens, then test remote?

          • +1

@G-rig: Thanks mate. I removed 2 HDMI and it worked.

            • +1

@zozuc: Great news, good thread this one.

      • Thanks mate. I removed 2 HDMI and it worked.

        • So can you use those 2 HDMI's ports again or are they permanently non-usable now?

          • @jbond007: Hi, I tried to use Google in HDMI ARC and Fire TV in HDMI 2. It seems ok for now. I turned off and then turned on, there is no problem so far.

    • +2

Do you have any HDMI cable connected? Change HDMI port. Remove all cables, switch off power at wall, wait 10 seconds, back on and power on TV.

From memory if you have only HDMI 2 plugged in, the TV will not turn on.

      • Thanks mate. I had 2 HDMI (Fire and Google). I removed all of them and worked again.

Just seeing if anyone has any tips for audio setup/sync..

I got Google TV-> Samsung Soundbar (via HDMI) -> TV (HDMI ARC).

Controls both the tv and google remote all work fine for the devices. I'd plug GTV into the tv directly but got a soundbar deliberately with HDMI in to take advantage of Dolby Atmos (assumed can't pass through from TV if TV doesn't have Atmos)?

Hard to get either the tv or google tv sound synced perfectly, the soundbar has sync settings but no minus ones just starts at zero so bit useless. Seems a bit better if i chose the highest quality audio from the Google settings (instead of auto) as i think it falls back anyway. They need to add some settings in google tv as well as the android tv menu for sync and bluetooth sync.

Traditionally you'd just run optical out but max sound format would be 5.1.

Edit: works well having the GTV controlling everything (powers on/off all devices etc). Also I was using the optical out of the tv to a DAC, which i use occasionally. Was tempted to ditch the soundbar and just use the 8" monitors for everything but probably an overkill and uses more juice plus some basic surround and centre channel is good. A DAC with a remote vol control is still kind of needed sometime.

    Cheers,

Seems to be more of a Google TV issue, sounds like they need to sort out their game a bit, understandable if it's a new device so hopefully release an update sometime. I.e. The sync is a lot better by going into the Netflix app first rather than launching from the home screen. Have turned off Gaming mode, people report turning surround off fixes it but that defeats the purpose (unless you have a basic speaker and don't care).

It's the type of problem that is fixed when you power off and on again, but can get out of sync depending what apps etc. Likewise from tv-ARC.

Last night it was perfect watching Blade Runner 2049 in 4k, very nice. I assume this setup was the best for sound delay having GTV into the soundbar, but perhaps the picture can lag then to the TV and return.

      • Is it an issue with this TV or it's common issue with this sort of setup including sound bars/home theatre. Someone also mentioned above regarding TV not turning on with HDMI 1 and 2 connected and then removed them to get it working again.

        • +1

Trying to remember if my Sony had any any sync problems with the Same setup. Good point.

In general a lot of people have issues with the Google TV and various brands of tv and soundbars

  • Does it come with a warranty? If so, how many years. Have seen another offer from JB-Hi Fi (Hitachi 65 QLED TV for $995). Link: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/hitachi-65qledsm20-65-4k-…

I believe it's the same TV, just rebranded

      Eko 1y warranty.
As others have said buying through big W gives you some confidence with returns if any issues

  • What do you guys think about this one? https://www.bigw.com.au/product/eko-65-smart-uhd-led-tv-with….

I spoke to 3 different branches but they don't have the frameless Eko 65 inch one.

  • I was lucky to get one today from Waverley Gardens store in Vic.

Call the store and they confirmed they have 1 left and got them to put it on hold.

  • On special again, but looks like now stock in VIC.

  • Will it receive any software updates at all ?
Bought on as a secondary option. Have some youtube video freezing every now n then, wondering if it's the TV's software or the youtube app. Anyone else faced any such issue ?
