However, all three are there as they will allsuit different needs.

  • Oh Dell… Limiting to just 2 of the U2412M's :(

    • I tried using moneybackco but it forces you into Dell home and office which for some reason has the price as $399. You can't get to the small business section which has is for $279 unless you go to dell.com.au directly (and lose your 7%). Never had this problem before where the price is different betweeb Home and Business.

        Well that sucks.

MBC is rebadging themselves as "starthere.com.au".
If you go there, they have a spot specifically for Dell Small Buisness.

The rebate is not as high as MBC (it ranges from 3.5% to 5.5% for Dell, depending on your buying history).
Considering MBC is no longer taking new signups, new people will have to start here anyway.

The good news is that their 'hit detection' is meant to be a lot better!

  • cue arguments over response time….(nice deal tho, every time this comes up, i almost buy it)

  • Just bought a U2412M. Thanks OP, I have been looking at these for a while.

    Nice deal; Great formatting.

    • Haha thanks… It took a bit of time to find all of the specs and get the table working!
I was worried someone else would post it before me and thus mine would be deleted as a dupe.

  • Good for gaming?

    • +4

All the talk about ips not being good for gaming is rubbish , I went from a HP TN (HP 2445M) and gaming has been absolutely brilliant. The colors on this thing are simly amazing. It is just so much nicer to look at on an IPS screen.

AND at 24" + 16:10 + free shipping + Dells Awesome Pixel warranty, there nothing remotely close to this deal.

The input lag is good at a low 9.4 ms, however the 23 FHD inch model performs outstandingly well at 0.6 ms. This low input lag more than makes up for the 8 ms response time.

Thanks for one of the most informative posts on OzBargain. Much appreciated.

  • now, U3011; where are you?

  • I bought one last time. Awesome monitor for the price. I love the 1920 x 1200 resolution. I recommend it. I have used it for gaming as well as non-gaming and it is perfect for both.

  • U2410 or U2412…DAMNNNNN decisionsssss

    • Shouldn't the question be: one U2410 or two U2412?

    • Unless you are a keen photographer or graphics designer, I would go for the U2412M. Frankly, you won't notice much difference between the two in normal everyday usage.

  • is u2412m really good price?? I just saw an auction on ebay ended with $209 brand new posted…

    • Yes. That was ONE monitor which was being sold by a private seller (who purchased it from Greys Auction). Look through the rest of the recent sales of this monitor on ebay and you'll find them going for $350 - $370.

This is brand new, from dell, with 3 years warranty. For the pixel warranty alone, it is fantastic!

    • I think the 23 inch model was better value at $188 delivered a few weeks back.

    +1 for the pretty table

  • The response times on these monitors are not that fast :-( i need a monitor for gaming, is 2ms the lowest time there is for monitors in general?

    • I use mine (U2412M) for gaming and havent noticed an issue. My old monitor was 4ms.

  • I ve got this one for 2months ,I bought this one for 279, Im more than happy about the value, worth it, dont hesitate.

  • Perfect timing! I was trying to get a Samsung BX2450 for the last few days but they seem to be out of stock in a few places. So I'm getting one of these!

    Thanks!

  • Bought 3x U2412M monitors the last time they were on sale. Excellent quality and colour reproduction. No dead pixels either which was lucky. Highly recommended.

My Moneybackco click data didn't get recorded though which was annoying. I was using Chrome and meticulously cleared all the cookies, cache etc. but it didn't still didn't go through. Heard IE might be better if you turn down the security settings to medium.

    • Doesn't it normally take a day to get recorded?

      • Yes but it has already been weeks. I got them during the last sale.

  • not as good as my bargain on this a few weeks ago, thanks to a Dell error they sold me this same monitor for $0 and honoured it :)

But I will say that I highly, highly recommend it and yes it is an excellent monitor, no dead pixels even! :)

  • FYI, the U2412M discount ends Wed, December 14.

The U2410 & ST2320L discounts end 1 day later on Thurs, December 15.

  • got one! But I will say I hate OZbargain in a good way!!!

  • Got the $279 model for my parents. Good upgrade from their 20inch IPS 6 year old monitor ViewSonic.

  • +1

U2410 also comes with component input and composite input. But those are analog inputs.
Checking MSY prices.. if you don't mind 23 inch monitors, you can get 23 inch IPS (which I assume is E-IPS) for $185 (AOC) or $199 (LG).

    Wish U2412M comes with HDMI.

    • Links? are they x1200?

  • +2

+1 for the brilliant table and formatting in the post!

Quick reviews (I own 2/3 of the monitors listed):

ST2320L: Terrible colour reproduction, terrible viewing angles, terrible glossy bezel, terrible stand, terrible backlight, terrible even after calibration, terrible…you get the idea. Don't buy this monitor.

Also, external review saying how crap the ST2320L is.

U2412M: Great colour reproduction, very useful stand and inbuilt USB hub. 1920x1200 is great! However, factory settings are not very accurate and way too bright. Make sure you use the settings and ICC profile at: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/icc_profiles.htm to get the most out of this great value monitor.

Also, nice in-depth review of the U2412M.

    • Thanks for the review. I bit the bullet and got an additional two U2412M's for a triple monitor setup!
(I grabbed a stand from Selby Acoustics for $180 delivered. These are based on the Proluma stands, with better material and manufacturing (apparently)).

All up, with starthere.com.au's 5.5% cash back it came to just under a grand for 5760x1200 goodness (or maybe 3600x1920, still yet to decide)

  • Whats so good about this deal? Are they special compared to the cheap 180$ oners>?

    • U2410 is a very good monitor (proper/traditional IPS with lots of inputs) and with card reader built in.

U2412M is E-IPS. Competitively priced, but slightly pricer than the 23 inch E-IPS ones from MSY. U2412M has USB ports and proper adjustable stand (much better stand) —> you can rotate the monitor to portrait orientation. For E-IPS (or IPS), having a rotatable stand is very handy (after all, it is another way to show off its vertical viewing angle - which blows TN monitors away).

The main difference is size. There IS a difference between 23 inch vs 24 inch. The stand is also much better (height adjustable).

    • Wat do u think a IPS panel is?

      • massari was referring to the 23" E-IPS ones sold by MSY and the OZB deal for Dell 23 inch earlier.

Again, in short - 24 inch is better than 23 inch. Also, the UltraSharp monitor stand is much better.

But, in terms of the panel itself, they probably all have LG Hitachi panels inside.

        • Don't forget the warranty. Dealing with MSY will be PITA compare to Dell.

        • Not really. for monitors. I bought a few Dell monitors - returned 2. So far, I have 50% chance getting a Dell monitor with dead pixels. I only get UltraSharp ones mind you. I returned both of them (14 days satisfaction guarantee), but Dell wanted me to pay for the postage to send the item back to them.

  • +1

Dell is positioning U2412M as a PC monitor. DisplayPort (instead of HDMI) and 16:10. Bear in mind that Dell did NOT include 1:1 pixel mapping mode so if you feed in a source that's 16:9 (e.g. XBOX 360, PS3), the picture will be scaled to 16:10.

  • +1

Waiting for the 27' plus on promotion

    • won't be anytime soon i suppose, especially for a 27" IPS.

  • any IPS panel will do for me, 24inch is an ideal size. Gaming peeps go for TN panel instead. Bigger, faster, cheaper.

    Great find.

  • Agree with Netsurfer …

I bought two and both had one dead pixel… I'd gladly pay an extra $100 per monitor if I can be guaranteed no defective pixels at all….

    • I am not sure what you are getting at here?

If you buy one of the above monitors and have anything wrong with it, you can return it for an exchange or refund (minus return postage… which may be negotiated out of). See the DELL RETURNS AND REFUNDS FOR CHANGE OF MIND POLICY

Considering you are happy to pay $100 for this, do you want my paypal details? :)

  • So if I wanted a screen for gaming, the TN is the best bet?

    EDIT: 360 gaming! :)

    • definitely! faster response time than IPS panel. poor viewing angle but you not using it for graphic design anyway. TN panel is bigger in size much cheaper too!

  • Hey guys, what ETA's are you guys getting for delivery. Mine say's Dec 22nd.

    • Got a call today saying it will be delivered by tomorrow.

    • My confirmation email said 2011-12-22, got a call today daying it'll be delivered Monday (2011-12-19) and Dell website status check says the same thing now.

    • ETA for mine also is 19/12, Monday 9.00AM-1PM.

transaction was recorded by "starthere.com.au" giving me a rebate =$8.88 (the lower 3.50% and based on ex-GST value) so $270 all up for this rather promising monitor. Hopefully our rebates will be processed before "Feb 2012" as starthere seemed to predict.

  • Mine said the 22nd… THEN THEY ARRIVED TODAY (Postcode: 2600)!
(Paid one set with CC and the other set with Bank Deposit)

Jeezbus! 3 of these badboys have taken over my desk and look amazing.
And not a single pixel was killed :)

  • No delivery today Monday 19th even though Dell called on Friday and said Dec 19th delivery date. Hmmmm….

    • The courier company call me for mine.

      Posted from my U2412M :D

This thing is great. It's huge. I have a white pixel though, what do?
