The problem isn't with the base pack, it's with all the expansions packs that every iteration has.

  Yeah they really went full on on the expansion pack squeeze the customer on dlc's business model.
  
  It is a shame because The Sims is a great series.

    They really did. And while I don’t fully understand the mechanics, I’m perplexed seeing each iteration have a pets, for example. Like DLC for new ideas is one thing, but it seems like they leave stuff out to add as expansions.

      You said it best. They really are squeezing us the customers now for stuff we used to get normally for free which kind of sucks but yeah business.
