The Samsung 3D BDD6500 has Wifi built in and a couple of other handy options this is the cheapest I have seen it and use PAYPAL code for free shipping. I was deciding between this and the Panasonic DMP BDT100, but due to my 50inch Sammy plasma I got the Samsung to limit any compatability issues (although I'm led to believe this isn't really an issue).
By the way do I have to put in the obligatory "be nice for first time poster"

Mod: Fixed title for clarity

      Done, typical noob mistake!

  • By the way do I have to put in the obligatory "be nice for first time poster"
No but you gotta put the price in, jeez!

    Edit: Thats better!

No price, no location in title. So close to neg for both that and "be nice".

Don't get your undies in a bunch, I ordered from Vic and their website states they deliver australia wide.

  • I believe Myer have the Panasonic DMPBDT110 on special for $179, down from RRP $219 (or at least they had it at that price over the weekend). Just putting it out there for people like me who went with a Panasonic TV as opposed to other brands.

  • Yeah saw the same deal your talking about at Myer city Melbourne, the good guys in Coburg dropped it to $175 when I showed them a photo from Myer

    • Myer deal still much better if you buy the gift card deal and use Myer One

Personally, I'd go for the Sony BDPS580. 3D, built-in wifi, DLNA support (better than Samsungs) and support for IPTV eg ABC, SBS, 7 and music streeaming services. ~$200 retail.

And if you don't need wi-fi, get the cheaper S480. $143 delivered

    • Or stick with this samsung and install Plex on it.

      • Plex supports iView, SBS, Yahoo7, youtube, Quickfix streaming on demand etc?

    • Is it free to subscribe to IPTV? I've not seen it in action before and wondered if the delivery through broadband would be smooth enough for quality viewing.

I've got it on my 3x S370 blu-rays and my Sony EX720 TV.

Is it free to subscribe to IPTV.

Yes it's free (apart from the new Quickflix on demand stuff). Sony also runs a music service that has a per month fee. Never used it.

and wondered if the delivery through broadband would be smooth enough for quality viewing

It worked fine when I was on 4mbit/s ADSL2+. I'm on 30mb/s cable now, so as you'd expect, I have no issues.

ABC's iView website has a bandwidth test. If your PC can pass, so should the blu-ray player.

Quality is about on par with a 350MB xvid. Occasional blockiness, but overall very watchable.

  • Yeah. Personally, I would stick with the TV brand that you have, just for the sake of being able to use the one remote. Good to see that there are decent deals across the manufacturers for 3D bluray players without haggling. That is unless there is a specific feature that you are after.

Just for note, I got the Pana DMPBDT110 a bit cheaper from Myer after bundling it with about $3k of other stuff at the same time.

  • Big Brown Box has price matched this.

Not sure how long this will last.

    • Well Bing Lee has now dropped this to $169 plus shipping. Free handling if pickup from store.
