Cycling is what I'm considering these for. I want to hear if a car is coming or beeping me when I listen to an audio book. May not work as well with music if it still blocks out environmental sounds..
sounds like a terrible idea to me. id never ride with obstructed hearing or vision
Bought this on the last deal and they are really utilitarian.
Coming from the Sennheiser PXC 550 and mid-tier Logitech gaming headphones, you definitely lose a lot of bass and mids with this headset; though that's quickly forgotten when using them while listening to a podcast, or speaking to a relative during exercise or chores!
I also gifted this to my mother who hates in-ear and over-ear.
She uses them daily for 6-8 hours a day at work with minor discomfort as they're built to press firmly around the sides of the head. It's really tricky to use these when lounging as the back band area tends to stick out, and seems like optimally, the back band needs to rest as low on the neck as possible to make the best contact with the temples.
I still use my other headset when I need to block out noise or am watching a movie, but for running, gym, cycling, walking, handsfree calls, and chores, I reach for these every time.
5/7 would buy again.
How is it with rice?
Are they the same as open headphones? Can someone next to you hear the audio?
Yeah, at louder settings the audio can be heard by people nearby.
Obviously if it is noisy they won't but if you use it on the higher volume in a quiet room, yes :)
Bone conduction? So, the sound is sent through your… bones? Does that even work??
No it doesn't work, that's why it's rated so highly.
Sorry, sarcasm aside, yes it works.
yeah basically it vibrates on your cheekbones which conducts through to your cochlea. It just basically bypasses the eardrum as the way to determine the sound.
I give the Treks 5 out of 5 stars. I used it for audiobooks and sometimes for calls. 80% of the time used while running. I am eyeing on the Aeropex since I also run in the rain. Easy to connect and battery life as advertised. Best for the money.
and the newer model, openmove for extra $10

Any idea where to get the AfterShokz Xtrainerz for less than $219? I swim, and while there are a few bone conducting headphones for swimming, I doubt any have the clarity of the Xtrainerz.
https://www.amazon.com.au/AfterShokz-Xtrainerz-Open-Ear-Cond…Had my eye out for ages, never in sale.
$175 now is your chance @zan5hin

How are they compared with bluedio HS?
https://www.amazon.com.au/Portable-Bluetooth-Bluedio-HS-Acti…Not comparable at all.
They are really different things all together, The aftershokz are bone conduction while the ones you posted seem to just be speakers on a thing you put around your neck.
Any idea how these compare to the more expensive Aftershokz Aeropex (usually $250 but as low as $180 on sale)?
google and youtube can give you many ideas
Never owned this but I got the Aeropex from previous deals. As someone who has the Sony XM3's, Airpods & Galaxy buds, I use these 99% of the time now because I love being able to hear things around me plus they're so comfortable I forget I have them on sometimes.
The bass definitely isn't there but I feel like I get 80% of the full experience of a song anyway. Personally I'll be wearing these or bone conductions in general to the grave (I love them that much)
How is the voice quality for calls? Usable outdoors ?
My experience in speaking outdoors has been that your transmitted voice is a little "muffled" but people can comprehend you just fine.
I was told that surrounding noise like cars or other people can be heard, but not loud enough to make the shokz user difficult to understand.
Got a pair last sale and love them. They are great all day headsets that you can wear in multiple settings. The sound quality is akin to a good pair of computer speakers.
the only thing i wish is we can adjust the length, i know people said not juggling or moving but it is still creating a loop behind our back and when we wear a high collar shirt, sit on high chair or laying down then it will create an issue. anyone has solution ?
