    1080p My poor eyes

      Massive dealbreaker.

I don't believe either of you understand that this monitor is catered to e-sports gamers. Stable 280hz still requires some serious power to maintain at 1080p.

        • -3

Too bad it's 27". Gold standard in eSports is normally 24" @ 1080p since or 27" at 1440p

          • +3

@Jackywathy: A 24 inch variant exists of this monitor lol… People always seem so quick to discredit a deal when it doesn't interest them personally.

            • -1

@dsiritz: I'm not trying to discredit this deal, it's a great price if you only want a high refresh for a reasonable price. Just pointing out most people would prefer higher res at this form factor and for good reason (I've tried comparable monitors and it wasn't a great experience).

esports games will hit 280fps 1440p in almost every title with a mid range computer.

          • +4

@Dubsys: not true for any fps title

            • -2

@moojuice: okay so we're just ignoring csgo, valorant, quake, fortnite and r6s?

              • +2

@Dubsys: You would struggle to get 280fps in 1440p on any of those titles even on a high end rig. IE in csgo I have a 10700k + 3060Ti playing on 1024x768 and ill still have some areas on 128 tick servers where I drop to about 200fps

You are correct, I definitely have not understood this monitor. Seems a very specific use-case though and I doubt most people buy it fully informed.

i dont think you want anything above 1080p for 280hz….or even 165hz+……

      Should have gone to Specsavers.

    • such special eyes you have

    280Hz

    So many hertz waow.
    Fine with 60hz thanks.
Maybe gamers will like 120hz but most video is 24hz there is little benefit over that.
Apparently human sees 24 frames a second, maybe you can notice 60hz improvement, 120hz maybe improvement for certain people (gamer), but 280hz sounds like marketing gimmick.

Just sharing opinion, only noticed when switching to 720p 60hz video quality on YouTube was on game videos.
Most content only has 720p option anyway (some show “720p 60” option).

Any competitive fps players will notice a difference 120hz to 240hz but beyond 240 you get diminishing returns in terms of how often the screen is refreshing per second and how noticeable the difference is. https://youtu.be/3iY0figLAwo?t=83

The human eye sees 24 frames a second thing is a bit of a meme at this point but we are starting to hit the limit on whether or not past 300hz+ can make any difference in real world testing.

If you don't notice any difference that's fine but it's not a marketing gimmick

      • Thanks for your educational answer.
(wondering if other users had any answer / explanation)

Yes so can understand if it is for “competitive gaming” but makes you think a good gamer can be really good on any monitor, that’s part of what makes them good overall.
If they depended on everything else being exactly what they need then they are just a gamer.

The person in video you linked describes the milliseconds before you see something that makes sense, but if you have a 240hz monitor and other players have 60hz monitor that feels like cheating…
Then they say will see if they can “tell the difference” well then that goes back to normal computer users, and then 60hz is just fine for everyone.

The human eye sees 24 frames a second thing is a bit of a meme at this point

Assume you mean “me me” as in “look at me me so smart you can only see 24 frames per second” but if you think about it, anything over that (60hz) looks smoother, but maybe you are missing frames.

Maybe if you put 5 dots (one each on random frames random locations) in 60 frames, and asked how many dots they saw in 60 frames probably most people will only catch 2 or 3 dots.

So imagine 280 frames with 60 dots, and human eye probably only sees less than 10 of them.

        I can't win a gulag unless I'm on 360Hz

        • Yep, that's the excuse I use when I loose in Battlefield.
