JB-Hifi is selling the same product without the Apple Home Kit module for $263 (from $329) so this is a good deal I think

Id8 rather the Samsung disc at this price.

    • Why? The Samsung disc is a rim lock and only has bluetooth right? The Yale Assure is a deadbolt and has wifi, zigbee, z-wave, August and HomeKit.

Personally, I would never connect front door lock to wifi.

        • What about your fridge, your air con, washing machine, etc.?

          • @DoctorCalculon: If I could, I would, because none of them are part of my home security. I don't see a need for the appliances you mentioned though lol.

@onlinepred: If someone really wanted to access your home, they would most likely get in through other means then spend time hacking your WiFi.
If you have secured your WiFi correctly, then it is simply illogical paranoia for one to say they wouldn't use a smart lock with WiFi support.

              • -2

@DoctorCalculon: I could care less, I don't want my door to unlock without a physical key unlocking it. I couldn't care less about hacking etc, or how secure you think your wifi is or how much trust you have in all the companies and services involved, it's another avenue for security threats being mistakes, accidents, or genuine attackers.

                • @onlinepred: Hacking your Wifi to unlock your door takes more time than physically picking your door lock. Source: LockPickingLawyer

@GregFiona: At no point did I say otherwise. Check my arguments and try again. I have a smart lock btw. It's just not wifi enabled.

                    • @onlinepred: You just said you have a SMART lock, and in the previous comment you said YOU DON’T WANT your door to unlock without a physical key.
You obviously do not know what you want?

                      • -2

@GregFiona: Wtf you taking about. My fingerprint is a physical key… What I said, is that I don't want other means on opening my door except opening it physically. I don't want it to accidentally open after am update, or I accidentally press unlock while overseas and don't notice etc

                        • @onlinepred: Ok, you obviously don’t know what you are talking about, I’m sorry I thought you just didn’t know what you want :)
BTW, after an update, only the Hollywood movies door locks unlock automatically, you must be watching lots of movies…

                            @GregFiona:

My fingerprint is a physical key

I almost fell off my chair when I read this line.
Never have I laughed so hard in my life. 🤣😭🤦

I don't want it to accidentally open after am update

Like that really happens in real life. Maybe you should consider wrapping your whole house in tinfoil. 🤪

I accidentally press unlock while overseas and don't notice etc.

For this to happen, you would have to intentionally open an app and press the unlock button.

All of your arguments are clearly flawed. You are entitled to your own personal opinions but not the facts.

              • @DoctorCalculon: ..B&E to gain entry 99% of cases. If they want in they gonna get in, without any real obstruction. Security is a myth, insure yourself well.

                • @sim36: At the end of the day, if someone really wants to get into your house, and they have the means to do so, they will get in.
All you can do is make it all the more difficult.
