Get the Google Pixel 4a 5G at $649. Had been waiting patiently for the normal 4a, but prices weren’t going down. I think the 5G version at this price is a good deal.
Hopefully it helps those looking for a Pixel deal. Obviously, folks can get discounted JB Hi-Fi cards for further savings…

@life is suffering: I was going to get the 4a 5g but the store I was at did not have stock. They suggested I could use the online order and pick up from another store, but I didn't really feel like to travel to the other store. So I spent some time examing the display models and decided that I like pixel 5's smaller size and the aluminum body. 5 being waterproof is also a plus. It was more of a spontaneous decision to be honest and I think I'll be happy with either one.
@yyhazy: me too.. I was thinking of buying 4a 5G… after I look at display n play with it and compare it to Pixel 5… i decided to spend extra on pixel 5…. it because pixel 5 has sumtimng that I needed….

If I get this does it extend Google photos HQ limit beyond June 2021?
I got pixel 5 today and inside the photo app it says that photos backed up in high quality would be free and unlimited. Ones backed up in original quality would count towards the storage. For photos backed up from other devices, they would count towards the storage regardless of quality starting from June 2021.
I just checked my 3xl and it looks like that photos backed up from it in original quality would start to count towards storage quote in February 2022. High quality ones would remain free.
So if I get a Google Pixel phone I get to use HQ photo quality uploads unlimited but if I use anything it will count after June 2021

Application tools are some of the best I've seen for a screen protector (with little wings either side to guide placement).
The fit is OK. If you line it up with the camera hole, then the screen protector matches up 99% accurately with the display edge (as opposed to the glass edge of the phone). Except at the bottom where it's ~3mm too long. But it doesn't particularly bother me as the top edge (where I look at more) lines up nicely.

Quick one - when you say 3mm too long on the bottom edge, could you pls clarify what is that? I’m hoping the protector doesn’t protrude out, else the case won’t fit? 😳
I also bought the official Google case for the phone, and the screen protector fits absolutely fine.
There’s still another 3mm or so between the edge of the phone and the edge of the screen protector on all sides (this is the “bezel” of the Pixel display).
Staring at my phone more closely, I think the bottom bezel of the phone’s display is marginally larger than the top bezel, which is why the screen protector looks “3mm too long”. The screen protector matches the contours of the phone, but the phone’s own display is not perfectly situated in the centre of the phone.
Anyway, just go buy it if you haven’t already. I wanted a protector that was tempered glass and had a cutout for the front camera, and there weren’t many choices on Amazon with fast Prime delivery.

I had chosen click & collect for a nearby store and was lucky to receive it the next working day. Hopefully it doesn’t get delayed for you folks any further.
It strikes me as misleading to advertise as in stock and deliver by 13th Jan, only to email weeks after the order that it has been delayed by a month.
Sent an email asking for a shipping refund, since that is completely unreasonable.

I'm a bit annoyed since I have a broken phone that requires replacement, and I was under the impression it was in stock.
Picked up 4a (4g) for $549 at JB when I asked them if they could do a better price just a couple of weeks back.
4a 5g for $649 seems a good deal for now.
