  • Damn is this going to be the first Boxing Day sale with no crazy specials on OLED TV's. Historically, Boxing Day period was the best time to grab an OLED because they'd go on bigger than usual discounts, until of course the new models are announced, then we get the April/May clearance of older stock (which usually hits previous Boxing Day prices again).

  • +1

20% off Home security ! (most if not all the popular brands)

    • Might pull the trigger on some Arlo products. Not the greatest deal but decent nevertheless.

      • +2

looks like it says excludes Arlo and Eufy 2C range

  • +1

Daaamn the gaming laptops look good. Even cheaper than Black Friday by about $260 (including $100 cashback) for the ASUS ROG I've been keeping an eye on.
    Thanks for the post OP!
Gonna live up to my username now.

    • This or Dell G7 17?

      • the G7 is nice too! if i was in the market for a 17" i'd consider it. very similar and soid specs.
asus doesnt have a webcam but i can get a cheapie one for the 5 times i use it in a year

    • Interesting the Asus ROG Strix with RTX2070 is a lot cheaper than the ROG STrix Scar with RTX2060. Will they get jacked before boxing day?

      • Were you talking about the Strix with rtx2070 being jacked? I think not likely because it's already advertised for $1998 on that catalogue. plus the asus $100 cash back runs till 31.12.2020. just hope i can snag one this time!

        • +1

Ahhh, I didn't see that. I just saw the headline 25% off gaming PC's and flicked through their website to see what they've currently got.
JB have a 2 week price guarantee. You can get it now and claim the difference on boxing day.

        • I wonder if HN will do a deal for this Helios 300 for boxing day sales to counter JB:
          https://www.harveynorman.com.au/predator-helios-300-15-6-inc…

          • @mandelbrot: I actually bought this the other day: https://www.joycemayne.com.au/acer-predator-helios-300-15-6-…

They came back and said it was out of stock and offered the Nitro 5 instead for the same price. said it's exactly the same aside from branding. Aside from the fact it's cheaper elswhere, if i didnt know better i would have fallen for the bait and switch. I originally bought it through the Joyce Mayne site which is HN anyway and they're still putting it up for sale even though there's not stock till Mid-jan at least as the rep advised. Not very ethical.

So if they do drop the one you're talking about hopefully it will be at or around the $1600-$1700 mark at least.

            • +1

@shutupandtakemymoney: That sounds a bit dodge from Gerry!

The Helios 300 I linked has a RTX2070 with additional 1TB hard drive. Comparable to the Asus ROG Strix, , with a lesser refresh screen, but possibly a more solid frame.

Good luck with your deal at JB. If you buy it now, you can probably ask them for immediate discount, since it's in the catalogue and priced from boxing day.

    • Is that a good deal? I've seen the same laptop for cheaper on this deal

      • This screen is the 240hz vs the 144hz for that last deal. Aside from the refresh rate, it has a wider colour gamut, better brightness etc. I cant see the hdd but for the screen alone it's better value. Depends what's important to you as always. Plus not sure if that other deal was fulfilled due to price error.

        • Yeah you're right - just saw the comments might not have been fulfilled. Thanks for the screen explanation. Might go for it too.

The Fitbit Charge 4 is currently $149 at JB https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/fitbit-charge-4-black

It will be $199 on Boxing Day.

Do your research. Check your prices.

    • $199 on that link…

  • Based on the price, this is the Hisense 75S8 Series 8 75" 4K UHD Smart TV

    • Question is, any good for 1.5k?

      • The Sony x900h 65" should be around that price. I know smaller but the picture is fantastic and the Netflix Dolby Vision is superb. With HDMI 2.1 as well.

        • +1

I don't think you are getting a 65" x9000h for close to $1500 on boxing day. Cheapest ever for box damaged is about $1650 isn't it?

      • The Hisense 70s5 was $1100 on black Friday ($1050 at TGG). Apart from being 5 inches bigger, I don't see how the s8 is much better

  • can you ask for extra discount if you buying a few things? Fridge, washing machine, etc.

    • +3

      You'd be silly not to

    • A question on buying a fridge. Can I buy on boxing day and deliver in late January?

      • Ask the staff

      • +2

        Yes you can

        • Thanks mate.

  • Dang it, once again, Surface 15% off, excludes everything, lol.

  • the lenovo duet chromebook going for $399 is still a fair bit more expensive than the last deal which was around $329/$349 iirc… worth getting?

  • Most of these prices for TVs seem to be normal sales prices that happen every so often. Was hoping for better.

  • [ 85Q8 for $3995+ $50 delivery ] or
    [ $4045 for 85X90H + free delivery ] ?

I know HDMI 2.1 on Sony is a great deal. But, I don’t play any racing games or online shooters. What do you guys suggest?

    • +1

      X90

      • +1

my reason was [rtings Sony vs Hisense 8.0 vs 8.4] (https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/sony-x900h-vs-hisens…)

But, I also will not feel very good about owning a Hisense. A washing machine I bought died few months after the warranty ended. Had to throw it away. But, It could be a my bad luck.

        • +1

Reliability should be fine on both. I'd say that the Sony has better motion handling and picture.

    • +1

Sony! Easily. The picture is superb for the price. I'm very fussy when it comes to picture so I don't say this lightly. The Dolby Vision on Netflix is fantastic.

      • How do you find the reflections on the x9000h. Currently have one on order but considering upgrading to the 9500.

        • +1

If you are after best picture for movies then go for the 9500. There's a difference in image and sound quality.

There is some reflection but it's not too bad. It's noticeable in a well lit room with natural light or any direct light. You would want to use lighting that does not reflect off the screen for best viewing.

    • +2

Where did you find the x90 for $4045?

      • +1

Keep an eye for box damaged sales from Sony. EBay.

  • Would 75 inch TV fit into boot of SUV?

    • With seats down? Yes it should. Check the dimensions on the website and measure to make sure.

      • +10

        yes. driver's seat down too ^ ^

    • no…unless. its a samsung fold….

    • +3

Absolutely not, almost nothing short of a LandCruiser etc. can even take a 65" if you keep it in the box and upright.

    • Really depends on the size of your suv, is it large medium or small. An easier question is can a small person ( shorter than 1.75) sleep with the seats folded down.

    • Haven't been able to fit any 75's over the last couple years in prado's or pajero's.

      • Ford Territory ?

        • No chance. I only just got 65” in a Kia grand carnival and the boot is heaps bigger than any suv you will find. 50” would be limit for a territory I reckon due to height (should transport standing up)

        • I have a Territory and bought a Sony 65 inch and the TV would only fit at 45 degree angle. No way a 75 is fitting.

    • +1

I did (just) fit two 75s flat in the boot of my 2012 Mazda CX9 with rear seats down.

    • You'll have to take it out of the box, but the JB Hi-Fi staff will warn you that it will void warranty. Also, apparently you shouldn't lie it flat because there's a chance it will break. I've just fit a 65" into a HRV seats down if that helps.

    • not at all, in my BMW X7 , which has a very big boot , wont fit.

    • My 65inch can lie flat with seats down in my ford escape. I guess if you have a larger SUV the worst case is with one side leaning against the door (diagonal).

  • Lmao @ the Ryzen laptops being deals when they're all 3rd gen.

Can get 4th gen regularly online from Lenovo or ASUS or Dell.

  • +4

Given the AUD is a heck of a lot better than what it was earlier in year, prices should reflect and be lower than these sale prices offered.

    • Agree some of these prices are higher than Black Friday

  • Bugger. Prices for the Garmin Fenix 6 not that great.

  • +4

    No x9000h or Q80t… BORING

    • I called the sales 135244, the gave me $1515 on 55 inch x9000h, told them I got tgg commercial account if they can match it cos I have jbhifi voucher.

  • +2

I have the Hisense, their App Store is a piece of shiet… can’t search for apps, doesn’t have Disney…

  • +1

meh, eufy robovac was $224 just few weeks ago

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/584482

    • Yeah that was a good price, I'm kicking myself for not picking one up then.

  • No good deals on Sony TV. This is it for Boxing day deals?…

    • Sony is not manufacturing enough to go on deals. Good TVs, Alpha Cameras, Playstation 5 - are all available in very limited quantity.

      • +2

The best tv brand in the business by far and they dont produce enough.

        • LG entered to the chat.

      • +1

'Sony' and 'Good TV's' is an oxymoron in 2020, reviews have not been positive.

  • Any possibly good deals on Sony Wired headphones? Saw that they will be 40% off. Need a nice decent pair for light media viewing on a laptop at uni.

  • Wanted see if there's any deals on some nice android head unit, seems JB has quietly stopped selling car stereo stuff altogether.

  • +3

Wow what a super boring boxing day special no high end TVs and no real big deals meh….

  • +5

Black friday deals were far better than this, seems like a trend now to have better deals on black friday

  • +5

    Not a thrilling sale.
Beers and relaxing on Boxing day instead.
    So a good outcome.

  • How is this the biggest sale event of the year. Sometimes i wonder why people even bother fighting to get stuff in shopping centres on boxing day when theres no good deals at all.

  • +1

For a 50" budget bedroom TV.
TCL, Hisense or Hitachi? All similar priced.

    • I got same query too. These 3 seem similar.

  • Anyone know if I can over top up my 28 degree card to make a purchase?
(eg. let's say current limit is $1k, I put in $3k, does this mean I have $4k to buy things and still covered by shopper protection?)

BTW I had the card for a long time so is not a new applicant…

    Thanks

    • Yes you can, I usually top up when I travel overseas.

      • thanks mate! But would they charge me X% fee if I over top up cos I've read on OZB that you can no longer do that something about they charge you 2% of something when you over top up…

        • I believe that there is no mechanism to top up above your limit… Every time I tried to pay more than the balance I got an error….

          • @Logical: oh no…did you do it via their website or your bank? Anyone else had any success?

            • @homersyd: In the past it used to be you could top up via BPay (and get charged $1) but not sure if that's changed.

              • @FXD: Thanks guys! just confirmed with them over the phone. Yes @FXD is right, I can use bpay and the fee is $0.95.

                • @homersyd: I only use direct debit to save on fees… Good to know Bpay works for top ups…

    • I'm pretty sure you will only be covered for shoppers protection on your credit limit amount, so if you buy a thing for $4k you will only be covered for 25% of the refund amount. The wording in the PDS says"If you paid only part of the price with your card, we’ll pay a proportionate benefit. For example, if you paid 50% in cash and 50% with your card, we’d pay 50% of the price difference."

I guess it comes down to if they consider placing additional funds onto your card as 'cash' or as 'your card'.

      • thanks FXD…i wonder if anyone else know the answer here at OZB…..

  • With Zip Pay, that means I can get e shop cards for 20% on Boxing Day, huh?

  • 10% off Nintendo e-shop cards as well. Combine with zip pay for 10% cashback making them discounted by 20%

    • +5

      19% discount

      • You are right. Should be 19%

  • 20% off Philips Hue, nice

  • For those interested in a GoPro 9 Black, you can get it in a bundle with spare battery plus magnetic swivel grip, 32gb card, camera case, floating hand grip AND a year subscription to GoPro (whatever that entails) for $589.95 with free shipping! Good deal for an extra $12.95

    • Would JB match the deal excluding the 1yr sub?

      • I wouldn’t have a clue tbh, tho I’m doubtful with those accessories

        • +1

Went into JB today, wasn't able to get them to price match the GoPro bundle but was able to get it for $623 (Excluding 1yr sub and changing SD Card to Extreme Pro model as they were out of the other).
Also the Float handle seems to be the old model rather than the 2.0

    • +1

      Where?

    • I'm a big fan of GoPro and ordered that deal in November, however it was the biggest nightmare and wouldn’t recommend it upon anyone.

A week into the order I realised I hadn't been receiving status updates.
So I tried getting through to their chat support, always unavailable, no number to call, I tried all hours of the day, nothing. After 3 days I finally got through and I found out the order was cancelled. Why? God knows. They refused to give me a reason, as if it was top secret info and I wasn’t the person who placed the order.
After chatting a multiple times during the following week, they continued to say that the refund was on its way, still nothing.
I finally raised it with PayPal, which as expected, GoPro didn’t respond in the 2 weeks and I was automatically credited with the win/refund.
      Shit company, they’ll default soon.
