  • Is it any good? Does it work better than say Jif? I have pretty good success with Jif.

    • -1

This aims to repel water after cleaning, Jif would not

      • +6

Looks like this is actually just a cleaner, it's recommended as prep before you apply the actual repellent.

  • This stuff is great! I used it on my shower door/ glass which had some solid stains and wouldn't budge with other products e.g. CLR etc. the result was awesome and the glass is back to normal. I bought this bottle at Bunnings, however, I do not remember the price being much different.

I saw that on news just wondering whether this is just another ads or really works.

Couldn't find it on Bunnings site.

Same here. Read the news and tried to find it on Bunnings website but got nothing.

        • Yeah, I have been looking for a way to clean shower door properly.

        • I checked as well to gauge the price I paid. No show. Must be a deleted line.

      • Have you tried Windex Shower Cleaner Trigger? Seems to work great for me and seems to also prevent the build up of soap scum, as long as you're using it regularly.

You can get it for $5.60 for the 750ml at Woolies.

        • Tried didn't work, I think it won't work after calcium build up.

Yes it is, but it's international order so you have to spend more than $49 to get free delivery with Prime.

  • I use thisfor shower glass. Works well with a bit of elbow grease.

    • +2

I bought some from Daiso but don't know need to use elbow grease, I thought only need water.

      • +1

It did say only need water

        • Erasers crayon and marker without chemical sprays and cleaners
        • Erases smudges, dirt and fingerprints using only water
        • Erases soap scum from bathroom surfaces without harmful cleaners
        • Large block: 27.5cm x 11cm x 4cm, cut to desired size
        • Activated with only water
        • +3

He is still wanting to buy some elbow grease though

        • Elbow grease will make it slip more easily so you can clean more quickly. It means you'll need to use more elbow grease though.

          • @eug: Oh, I did try Eraser Pad on shower screen but didn't work for me.

Mixed reviews? This says it's ok but pricey. https://www.thespruce.com/rain-x-shower-door-x-treme-clean-r…

    Have you heard about this?

It’s all I use now and works without elbow grease.

  • What you need is Barkeepers friend Stove/Oven cleaner.

    • +1

      Aren't we talking about showers?

    • stove and oven cleaner products are risky with aluminium frames.

Having said that my go to for shower screens is the standard barkeepers friend, so maybe your oven stove version works as well.

Really just need any product that has oxalic acid though, the kryptonite of soap scum.

  • If you have a lot of soap scum buildup a little scraper knife works magic:

"I am a professional window cleaner. Use steel wool 0000. Home depot $3. A bag. Get it wet with soapy water. Scrub done. No scratches. Also after you clean it spray rainX on it to coat the glass. Keeps the hard water from coming back. Whenever you remove hard water from glass it will come back stronger till you can't remove it anymore. When you clean it you create billions of micro scratches Wich allow more for the minerals to grab hold of. Use the rainX after it's clean. Can also use toilet bowl cleaner with the steel wool. Has acid in it helps some. Other than that you would have to go to a polishing machine."

This might be of mild interest to some people. A few years ago I did a simple test comparing four different cleaners - White King Power Clean Bathroom Gel, Easy Off BAM, AJAX Professional Ultra Bathroom, and Spot-X Hard Water Stain/Spot Remover. The first three claim to remove soap scum, the fourth only claims to remove hard water stains. Easy Off BAM (formic and sulfamic acid) also claims to remove limescale. AJAX contains phosphoric acid which can also remove limescale.

I had soap scum and hard water stains on my shower door. I applied the products, waited 5 mins, then scrubbed thoroughly with a scourer. For Spot X i just applied it to a scourer with a bit of water and scrubbed.

What a huge difference - Spot X took the crown easily.
