$25 for Referrer after Referee Spent $20 or More @ ShopBack

832

Not sure when it started, but it seems ShopBack increased their referral program to $25 for referer. Referee gets the regular $5. Perhaps they're losing too many customers recently…

Invite your friends to ShopBack
You'll earn a $25 bonus when a referee signs up and make a purchase through Shopback of $20 or more.

Refer-a-friend Programme Term & Conditions
ShopBack rewards you with a $25 bonus for every qualified new member referred.
A "qualified referral” is a new member of ShopBack who:
(i) signs up via your unique referral link, on ShopBack or the referral methods on this page
(ii) makes an accumulated minimum spend of $20 (final order value)
(iii) has his/her Cashback (from the minimum spend above) turned confirmed
(iv) has his/her Cashback withdrawal bank account details filled
For more detail on each point above:
i.i) Your friend must sign up via your link and not be overrided by another referral link. The last referrer link clicked will get the bonus.
i.ii) If referred via email, your friend has to input the referred email address when signing up on ShopBack.
ii.i) Referrals' first purchase must be a legitimate order non-stackable with other New Customer promotions (Eg. Bonus $10 Cashback promotions) ii.ii) Any cancellations, refunds or exchanges will not be counted to the qualifying spend.
ii.iii) The following merchants are excluded from the qualifying spend: Uber, Kayo Sports, DoorDash, Hayu, Accor Hotels, Intercontinental Hotels Group, ShopBack Vouchers (Gift Cards), Woolworths Gift Cards, Circles.Life. Please note this is not an exhaustive list and ShopBack reserves the right to add or amend the list.
iii) Your bonus of $25 will be tracked when your friend signs up and credited into your ShopBack account only when your friend meets the minimum spend of $20 and when their Cashback turns redeemable.
ShopBack reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to amend and vary the terms and conditions as set out above, as well as to disqualify any User at any point of time.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of activities that are not permitted and that will disqualify you from earning referral bonuses:
(i) self-referral,
(ii) posting your referral link on any ShopBack merchant's Facebook or forum page,
(iii) keyword bidding for the purpose of generating traffic to pages containing your referral link, and
(iv) any similar activity determined by ShopBack in its sole discretion to be inconsistent with the purpose of ShopBack's Refer-a-Friend Programme.
ShopBack reserves the right to alter the terms and conditions of this promotion. Any infringement of the above terms and conditions would result in the loss of all bonuses. Repeat offences would result in the closure of your ShopBack account.

  • I saw it this morning… Didn't think it wasn't posted yet lol

    • I was surprised as well, but I've done a few searches both within OzB and with Google, but didn't find anything. Feel free to report if it is indeed a dupe.

Nah I mean I should have posted it 😂

They probs need more details… heard all the old ones were leaked!

    • They also leak personal details history and accounts. Terrible management of data breach by sending the notice email Friday evening

  • comment deleted.

    • Comment preserved for eternity

"Several hours ago, we became aware that a party has made available online our customers’ data, which was taken during the unauthorised access to our systems back in September."

Invite your family and friends. Lightning doesn't strike twice in the same spot so their personal details and bank records won't be hacked and sold on the dark web a second time….. right guys…?

    • So our Government websites were hacked, we should all abandon this country?

      • +13

Shopback's response way to down-play the hack, downplay the notion that customer data was sold online to anyone with money and say as little as possible. Then their social media team decided upon a strategy to continue posting deals and avoid posting any replies to any customer's who reference the hack.

ie. social media team is allowed to reply to comments relating to deals but they are instructed to ignore anyone asking about their security or the hack.

Ignoring customers like this is very disrespectful.

        • +4

          That’s a valid reason for a neg

        • +4

I think its far worse than disrespectful,
          just goes to show that
they are essentially willing to lie
they arent willing to address the problem, let alone even reply= imagine if you had $1000 in your account and it gets compromised/stolen/deleted, and then you contact them, they are willing to ignore you and not sort it out
this is far worse than when a company doesnt reply because they get too many enquiries
in the future if you get cashbacks declined, its entirely possible that given their behaviour, they will blame the merchant/you/software whilst keeping the money

      • I guess so… after all the government doesn't offer $25 referrer and $20 referee bonus

  • they force you to provide your mobile number now on signup… ever since they allow you to delete your account. same with CR, though you could delete an account before they started asking for a mobile number. conspiracy?

    • +2

      Use mine; 0400 000 000

  • +2

They won’t credit you if you refer family members.

    • How would they know?

    • +2

You mean in the same household? Because i'd be both freaked out and impressed if they could somehow tell that i referred a family member seeing as half of them live interstate and have different surnames 😅

    • +1

That's pretty rubbish. My spouse for example was a friend first, and still is, long before they were a family member. If they're going to quibble about something like that, then I just won't bother.

    • I'm pretty sure it's about "same household" rules, not at all about "family members".. could be wrong but about 90% certain.

      • All my referrals to family members were rejected as self-referral (after I offered to show evidence they were real people). Although Shopback refused to say which condition I breached, it's probably because I used the same device or IP address.

Never got the $5 one for my wife a few years ago and have only used the competitor ever since. Not sure if it was a wise business decision for them but I buy a lot of online product for work.

  • +2

The banner says earn $25, but I click on it and it says both of us get $5. WTF?

I referred a friend for the $15 one, who has spent well over $20 through Shopback (just not as a single transaction)… do you know if you have to spend more than $20 on one order or can it be accumulated over several orders?

    • +1

I think that it's only $5 for the referee because I just signed up and there is only $5 in my account.

  • It now says that it is only a $10 for the referrer
