Are you saying Boost Arse or Boo Starse?

  • +4

Is this for new customers or can it be used for recharge?

  • +4

    no
    mo
    $135
    deals?

  • Do these kind of sims allow apple watch cellular to be used standalone without the need for iphone for cellular connection?

    • +1

Nope. You need to go on an eligible post-paid plan with either Optus or Telstra to unlock the privilege of paying extra to get an eSIM for an Apple Watch.

This is just a sim anyway, not even an eSIM - so regardless no.

      • It's amazing how our telcos are ripping us off. I can't wait for one of them to start offering esim at normal price and let us use prepaid so that competition sets in. Right now though they're ganging up to loot us.

  • I bought their black Friday deal (same or similar price).

I had read about bad experiences when ported from Telstra to boost, but I didn't have any issues. Called the boost phone number and they put me on hold while they sorted the whole thing. Port was complete about 20 minutes after

    • Same with me, I ported from Telstra to boost was really easy and quick

      • Ported from Telstra via chat, it was seamless.

    • Well, it took me an hour to get the port done via online chat. Not sure what was happening at the time.

Any deals for $200 sim please? My last year deal of $300 is expiring this month, still 110 gb remaining. Had a chat with Boost online, they are happy to rollover the remaining data even a new sim is purchased. As per them, to contact them once new sim arrives. They are happy to transfer my number and data to new sim. This way no need to port out and port in back.

    • +1

      Sounds like good service.

Analsim refused to offer me a Black Friday plan so I left them to join Boost shortly after.

Sometimes the customer experience and service decisions are inept but good to see Boost were good on this occasion.

    • +1

Good to know this rollover trick, but alas already bought Kogan 2-for-1. Maybe next time.

    • +3

Boost $200 is available for $180 through boost website now. You managed to keep the 110gb from the $200 plan as is??…thats awesome.

      • Boost $200 is available for $180 through boost website now.
        no more i think?

    • +5

Please do update when it happens

      • +1

        IF it happens.

        • It will definitely happen.

          • +1

@NPB: Good luck. I hope the CSR wasn’t leading you astray. Let me know the outcome.

            • @sween64: yes, successfully transferred with remaining balances with data. I paid $152 from my deal for $200 sim. They even credited international minutes (I need to call back home as parents don't use fb, viber) on request.

              • @NPB: Congrats! Did you contact Boost via Live Chat or call them?

                • +1

@sween64: Via live chat , Just to confirm they could not tranfer the remaining call credits, tried their best and offered $50 credit, i accepted so my sim cost me only $102, 100 gb remaining data transferred and 110 gb data on new sim.

    • I just spoke to boost online chat. Apparently data rollover is NOT possible.

"If it's moving the number to a new sim, yes that can be done

If we change the sim and transfer your number that includes disconnecting th current sim to have the number transferred and disconnecting the sim will delete all your recharge. So we can't transfer that data on the new sim."

    • So Boost online chat gave the all clear to use a new sim, keep your existing number, and rollover your unused data?

      • yes, successfully transferred with remaining balances with data. I paid $152 from my deal for $200 sim.

  • Did they just invented code for you? Nice..

    • +1

This is TA we’re talking about.

    Would officeworks pricematch?

    • Would also like to know this

      • +6

Officeworks does not match prices with coupon codes.

        • They especially don't match codes that have an arse in it. :-)

  • +2

    When do these expire?

    • want to know as well

    • +1

Hello. The sims have an expiry of more than 1.5 years

  • Is it for newbie?

    • Is phone ok?

      • Phone is fine

    • +2

      Is it for newbie?

Huh?! There's always that one question that makes you wonder what the poster was smoking.

  • If you're porting from Telstra to Boost, add a $2 Optus SIM that Cellmate are doing for free and add to your order:
    https://cellmate.com.au/product/optus-2-pre-paid-sim-card/

    • what's the reason to get an optus sim?

      • +1

Difficulties porting from Telstra to Boost. It's easier to port to an intermediary carrier such as Optus.

        • thanks for the heads up, looking for a new plan for my girlfriend who is currently with telstra

  • -7

Just a note guys, boost does not have phone tech support. They have online chat. My experience has been very poor with their response times in the chat, then the whole chat window times out and your back at the beginning again.

I'm leaving these guys as soon as my credit is up.

I'm still getting about 50% of my incoming calls going straight to voice mail and about 20% of my outbound calls not actually dialling.

The same thing happens with my wifes phone as well. They have been completely useless.

    • I've never had any problems with boost in my area. I did though test a few providers before committing to boost. I tried optus, amaysim and boost, compared how they worked and then choose one. I recommend everyone to get cheap sim cards and test the service in you area first before committing to a year long plan

      • Hahha people neg me for speaking of my experience.

Everything started off ok with them, then about 6 months in my wife had issues, then 1 month later I had issues and they haven't been fixed.

It seems like there are die heart boost fans out there

        • yeah, for sure, no reason for people to neg you, as it is your experience and the fact that there is only chat support is something that needs to be pondered when deciding to switch. I mean, i haven´t had a single problem, so i´m ok with chat support, but i guess it would be a completely different story if i was running into problems with my phone signal and had to wait too long between chat messages to try to get my problem solved. I hope you get a solution to your problem, i assume you have tried testing with other simcards on the same network as Boost (telstra) and other simcards form other companies and even your current sim on a different phone. It might be useful to try to isolate the problem. From what i understand, boost uses telstra, so maybe telstra did some optimisation or adjustments on an antenna near your house. You could try getting a cheap sim form telstra, testing if it works for you, and if not giving them a call to see if they can fix it internally with their engineering team, and then, it would also mean it has been solved on your end. You could also try to contact boost and ask them to issue you with a replacement sim card. Maybe your sim card (and your wife´s) have a configuration problem on boosts servers, so issuing a new one (kind of like a copy of your current one) could solve the problem as they would be considered "new" simcards but with the same number associated to them (kind of like a refresh)

          • @pichxlonco: Hi thanks for the positive comment, yeah I have tried a different phone, and multiple locations around Brisbane. I haven't tried a sim card but there's a slim chance I suppose it could be that. My guess is more likely that it's a technical issue at their end.

            Pretty frustrating…

            • @frazel: For sure it's something on their end, but that might still be associated to your sim card. I used to work in telco, so i still have a general understanding on why some things could be happening. One possibility, given that both your wife's and your phone started failing is that a nearby antenna was adjusted (output power, antena tild, angle, etc). Since you tried around brisbane and the problem persists, then it must be something inside the whole network (the antenna controllers, or deeper inside the network). If it was a widespread issue, they would have identified it by now, as many users would be having the same issue, so it must be for you and your wife (and maybe a few other people), in which case might be associated to our SIM card. The simcard has a number (called IMSI) which is unique, and that number is registered inside another network element called the HLR (or used to be called that way from what i remember), where some of your profile and "plan properties" are stored. Maybe something in that HLR profile is wrong for your current SIM (IMSI number) therefore is causing issues for you, so maybe getting a replacement SIM card from Boost might solve as it will mean they will give you a new SIM card (with a new IMSI), but associated to your current phone. Maybe when creating the new IMSI on the HLR, they will properly update your profile and info in there and that might solve the problem.

Alternatively you could test with a cheap telstra sim card. Since boost uses the telstra network, you can then verify that its not a network problem but rather something on your profile/sim/phone/etc, or that it's only happening on the boost part of the network and not a telstra thing.

The important thing would be to confirm with boost if they can issue you with a new replacement simcard to check if that solves things. I would want to be in your position. I was with a company a while ago that was giving me the same problems (e.g. calls not coming into my phone) but that was happening at the same time i was looking for work, so i didn't want to risk an employer calling me and me not receiving the call, so i quickly switched providers to avoid problems.

  • Why don’t you join circles.life $18/month with 20GB data for full year.

Unlimited calls and text in Australia. Just curious what’s boost got, except that it’s Telstra coverage but most places voda and optus work well than Telstra.

    • This is 25gb per month for $20 a month

      • then may be some international calls…

      • You have international calls to selected countries which is not available with other providers at all or At this price

    • +1

      It's VoLTE for me

  • +1

This is good for existing Boost customers?

And presumably can be used in any 4g modem?

  • -6

Boost customer service is very bad. Not a happy customer

    • -2

You'll probably get neg votes for criticism of the holy boost

    • +2

You mean , Telstra tech support is bad? Tell me something I don't know.

  • So if I have an existing boost service I can recharge with this?

  • -4

Worst network with Boost even in CBD , faced worst network even in suburbs too. Done with idiotic boost soon porting to Amaysim.

    • +2

Isn’t boost essentially the same as Telstra?

      • +3

Yes, only difference is that Telstra offers 5G while Boost doesn't

      • Yes, they say but network coverage wise i have faced many issues. And i have faced issues in getting calls, call drops and calls going blank not just one off but multiple times even in CBD and suburb

    • Generally speaking Boost (Telstra) should have better reception than Amaysim (Optus), though it can vary in some areas. It is also worth mentioning that Amaysim does not have VOLTE.

      • Yes but reality is different. I am still using Boost and waiting for plan to get over as i have made mistake of buying for one year. I believe call connectivity and proper signal reception is bare minimum to ask from any telco let alone VOLTE.

  • +1

When they say unlimited calls to "standard national numbers" what does that mean? Does that include other mobiles from any carrier and 13 numbers?

Also we have a pretty poor Telstra signal at home and use the wi-fi calling feature on the iPhone to get better call quality. Is that still available with Boost?

I'm with Telstra and they have just "upgraded" my data with another 10gb a month and of course charged me more. I don't use the old data limit so the upgrade is just a revenue measure. This deal looks interesting.

    • Yes, Boost has Vowifi as long as your device supports it.

Boost supports Volte, Vilte, Vowifi and RCS messaging.

    • Yes wifi calling is available.

Exactly the reason a few of my family members have gotten this boost pack as well. They were on $39/m for 30gb and unlimited local call/text, and telstra decided to change that to $59/m with 60gb. Same boat with you where they barely used 10gb/m with wifi available everywhere.

      • Thanks to you & Bamboozle.

On the “standard national numbers” - does that mean other mobile phones, including those on other networks?

        • Yup. So mobile and 1300 numbers. What ever that is not a standard call (those ridiculous $$$/min kinda calls) not included.

  • Anyone had trouble porting to boost? Porting from Optus and can't get past ID page.

    • Yes this is my third attempt this morning. Optus haven’t sent me a text but boost said they’d bypass that amd my phone would cross over in 4 hrs. It’s now the next day and here we go again.

      • Update it’s been 2 days and it
still hasn’t ported over. When I rang again today they said they’d escalate it and it may take 24 to 48 business hours. It’s Thursday today so I could potentially have success on Monday. Not a great start I must say.

    Network in title, thanks

Best deal for 365 days is $150 for 120 GB data that also includes unlimited calls to 15 countries.

    • +1

Or this deal if you need the 300gb

  • Thanks!

  • I came in for the voucher code only…..nice code

  • Just purchased it at OW yesterday with price beat with cellmate $249, down to $236.55.
Lucky after I purchased it, the price back to normal.

  • Can anyone confirm whether there's a date I must activate this by? My current Boost prepaid plan runs out in April - if I can hold onto this until then that would be a wonderful deal

    • +1

This is not a recharge voucher. You need to port your number out to take advantage of this new SIM offer.

      • Ah, thanks for letting me know!

  • +1

Dumb question. Does this (or any of the other budget carriers, for that matter) work well in regional areas? Looking to buy one for a friend who is moving out of Sydney into regional NSW.

    • You'll need to check coverage maps, but this is a safe bet.

    • I live near sydney CBD and the Telstra and Optus coverage in my area is really bad, whereas Vodafone is good.

      So it really depends

  • I found Boost doesn't offer 5G, so I contacted cellmate to cancel my order and refund.
But the business called me saying they can cancel the order and offer a refund, but they will charge me 3% PayPal fee.

The reason is when a seller issue a refund to the customer, the PayPal fee will no longer refunded to the seller? How?

  • +1

If you have an Amex card with the MyDeal offer you can get the $300 prepaid card for $225 here. The $200 prepaid card is $139.

  • With Kogan when my prepaid expires i can simply buy a new voucher and renew, from the comments above seems like i have to buy a new sim with the $300 voucher and change my number over to the new sim everytime? Can anyone confirm ? TIA

    • You can recharge the existing SIM like any other prepaid. It won't get the reduced price or bonus data though.

  • Thanks! Ordered 2, one each for myself and the better half

  • No sure why I only have got 240gb instead of 300gb in the boost app. The SIM card was activated yesterday.

    • My partner also had the same problem… Just placed the sim in the sim tray without doing anything and it activated by itself. No info, no nothing.
