3 Hour Metro Delivery Fee $5 (Eligible in-Stock Items) @ Apple Store

1700

For those that want their Apple products super urgent, there is now an option to get it within three hours for $5. Considering the cost of Apple products usually requires an arm and a leg, the extra $5 is bugger all.

  • A$5 three-hour delivery is available on eligible Apple products in most metro areas until 17 December 2020. Offer is not available on customised Mac products, engraved products, and certain order types including orders paid for with financing or by bank transfer. Time restrictions apply. Find a store to view local store hours or see check-out for estimated delivery. Delivery times vary according to your selected delivery address, the availability of your items and the time of day you place your order. A signature is required for delivery. Drivers may ask for verbal confirmation of receipt from a safe distance to satisfy the signature requirement.

Sorry, but how is this a deal or a bargain?

    • +92

      An arm + a Leg + $5 = Bugger all.

That's a deal in my books.

    • +35

It's delivery within three hours, which if was done by any other system would be much more than $5.

      • +11

the delivery cost is partially covered by item price doh

        • +1

I guess, if you place an online order via normal delivery, the delivery time could take longer than the usual delivery time during the Christmas Holiday season. By using this service, you can get it within a few hours.

        • +1

But what about the case of a 3rd party retailer, that charges delivery fee? double dipping?

          • +5

@thesainter: they're all heavily marked up and sold at rrp on the apple store.

anyone who buys 3rd party accessories via the apple store, please hand in your ozbargain badge.
I can definitely find you a better deal elsewhere

            • @skido: I mean 3rd party retailers selling Apple products that also charge delivery, when Apple already build it into the rrp price

      • Untrue: Old Palm Liquor somehow manage to deliver me a litre of decent stout (including a flagon) for $0 delivery, within an hour.

I can only assume they're losing money on every transaction and even ordering it fills me with low levels of guilt, but it's an incredible deal.

Just as a guess, I imagine a 3-hour delivery should be significantly more expensive than, say, Aus Post's Express Post "Guaranteed Next Day" service.

Whether this should qualify for a bargain or not is another question, but I think it's worth knowing for those of us wanting an Apple item ASAP.

Come to think of it, I reckon it's actually way cheaper time-wise (not to mention petrol and regular car wear/maintenance) than:

      • driving to your nearest Apple Store
      • finding/fighting parking for ages
      • navigating the Christmas crowds and queues to pick it up
      • driving home.

      I'd pay $5 to avoid all that — just my 2c 😊

      __

edit: pcoder and others say it more elegantly 😄

      • +10

Agreed. $5 is a bargain to avoid having to deal with Christmas crowds… and let's not forget going into the Apple store and having to queue/wait before entry/etc… not my idea of a good way to spend my day off work.

        • +4

$5 to avoid Chadstone at Xmas is worth it

    • -2

Its always good to see a luxury brand become even more luxurious

  • +3

    How.. uh.. Generous?

  • +1

Not planning to buy an apple atm. But when I do all that I want is to get it same day without waiting for long time.
And $5 shouldn’t bother at all.

  • +19

wish it was a guarantee (like pizza hut back then) 30 minutes or free pizza
3 hours or free iphone o.O

    • Such a good idea but…..lol

    • Raise it up with Tim Cook.

    • Why isn't everything delivered in 30mins?

  • +10

a true ozb'r would buy from a retailer (jb, Harvey, etc) and use 10-15% discounted gift cards

    • +2

A casual ozb will do the same.

    • +7

I saw a comment from a true ozber: Use zippay offer to buy TCN gift cards to get 19%. Then go to jbhifi and ask for a price match to the apple education price. So it will come to 27% off.

      • now that’s the real deal

      • What are the TCN cards?

      • +2

Wait, u can price match Apple edu?

      • And book a $200 return flights from AU to NZ just to get TRS refund. (Assume the product you buy is more than $2,000)

    • +2

28 degrees price protection is much better for tech than a 10-15% discount.

      • +3

id rather pay less upfront than having to go through claims and claims. though its a good extra bonus and its sad they don't offer that for new members anymore

  • -6

Saw this on apples website for at least a month now.

    • +4

Damn, should have posted it at least a month ago!

      • +1

I don’t consider paying for shipping a deal.

        • +1

Mate, I live in outback Queensland. I'd kill for a 3 hour delivery for $5.

You're spoiled by living in Sydney.

          • -1

@NeggerOfDeals: Or I can buy things using TCN cards or otherwise for 10-20% off instead of shopping full price at Apple.

            • -1

@ATangk: Are you being intentionally dense?

              • -4

@NeggerOfDeals: Choosing to live in outback Queensland means all your deliveries are going to be later than those living in metro areas with warehouses. However it doesn’t change the fact that this is a regular pricing now for this delivery service and thus it is NOT a deal. It isn’t like you can get normal express service with postage in 1 day either, that’s a limitation of your location.

  • I was told I would have to wait about 4 to 6 weeks for my apple M1, If I get this does it mean I only wait 3 hours?

    • missed half the title there

      • yeah but was just hoping someone would say yes:(

        • +5

          yes

    • +5

Which part of "in stock items" is so confusing?

      • +3

the fact that I'm a ozbargainer so I don't need to be able to read english

    • So was I but it arrived much quicker.

  • +1

    3 hours is pretty impressive

  • +14

Cheaper than public transport in NSW

  • If they fail to deliver within 3 hrs then you can keep the device for free or free voucher for next product ;)

    • +1

No, they will probably refund your $5 delivery fee

  • I wish Amazon had this.

    • its prolly coming
      dont usa have this
i know they are hiring more drivers, my driver changes all the time these days
back in winter it was the same bloke in a Toyota

All my new Apple products come from Facebook Market Place. Free pickup from Moh in Lakemba brand new sealed. Mr. Moh gives me 30% discount on every new Apple product. Plenty Moh's selling new Apple products on Facebook. Find your own Moh and make him your friend, cheap ('cheaper') Apple products for life.

    • -1

Are you serious? Moh sounds like Moey which sounds like a dodgy Muhammad who struggles to follow the real Muhammad, the greatest human creation in history.

      • you really need /s

      • If only people followed the real Moh… Earth would turn into utopia lol

  • Any $99 Airpods deals?

  • +2

It's $5, you would think it can be easily included in iPhones and Macbooks?

Wouldn't it sound better in marketing sense to say free metro delivery within 3 hours?

  • +1

What's the usual price on this

  • +1

hmm.. they have watch band in-stock for Perth store but can't deliver until Feb.. Noice.

  • +1

This is normally $15 is believe. I used it recently and got a phone case for my new iPhone 12 when all the stores here in Melbourne were closed

Honestly for me $5 is so worth avoiding a trip to my nearest store Chadstone at this time of year

    • +4

I'd pay someone $5 to check my own letterbox for me, sometimes have that lazy mood.

  • I actually have tried the service for the iPhone case purchase in last week. Apple actually didn't delivered the order in time, no follow up updates, nothing. So I had to cancel the order and got the refunds.

  • +1

What counts as Metro again? Outer suburbs that are still within the city limits?

  • Exclude perth?

  • +1

bastards should send it for free

  • -5

Oh dear, there's no airpods max in stock - and here I was hoping to get a pair for each of my five children so as to drown out the sounds of the other children in our next first class flight. I guess I'll just have to fill their ears with diamonds or something instead.

    • +1

Gorilla tape might be a cheaper option.

  • I think the $5 delivery in 3 hours applies to all watch bands and phone cases, keyboards mouse, cables everything else- No
and Apple Care receipts can be delivered in 3 hours for $5

  • if Apple was a takeaway, this would have been a dEaL. (then again, iBurger for $299…thank god they're not a takeaway)

  • Can I order an iPhone 12 pro using this method?

  • I love it when people complain about the cost of Apple products….(message sent on my “bargain” Samsung Z flip)…

  • +2

one could say it requires an arm and a leg, as is the name of the new arm based… macbooks

    • Uhh no. It was $15. And the $5 offer ends on the 17th

  • All I can think of is something cheap required urgently but anything expensive which is most of their products if you can get it at JB HI FI priced matched ( and a third party not Apple RRP ) paid with 15-19% off gift cards this deal is plain dumb .

  • One might utilise this price to purchase the newly announced Air Pod Max over-ear headphones, RRP $899 (!!)

  • now how the heck is android going to copy this?
    he he

    • copy what? over priced products delivered for an extra $5!! nah mate nah, they can't copy it

  • There be the "Metro Delivery MAX" coming soon delivered in 30 mins just $100 :) he he

  • +2

I think this is a missed marketing opportunity - whats $5 on a $1500 phone, nothing! Imagine the cred they would get with everyone if they did 3 hour delivery for free. $5 is just a lame attempt to recover basically nothing in the scheme of things and a giant missed opportunity to give their competitors who can only dream about this kind of offer the big finger. Apple where has your innovation gone???

    • Bro, $5 for an apple customer is free.

      • -2

jason101 was talking about the missed marketing opportunity - "free free free delivery", not the value of $5 for an isheep.

        • apple's whole deal is literally overpricing everything and their followers would still buy them, i don't think "free 3 hour shipping" would sway anyone's mind, whoever's buying apple is buying whether the shipping is free, or $5. So they'll squeeze money from them in every way possible

    • +1

Mate, they’re thinking of removing the pin from the next iphone box!

    • well said

  • I rather get my apple devices from Jbhifi than apple. At least I can utilise the 10% off gift cards.
