$700 Harvey Norman Gift Card When Sign up to a New Optus $65 SIM Only Plan for 2 Years (80GB + Unlimited Talk/Text)

180

I was in store buying some electronics and the salesperson offered me this.

Pretty interesting deal for me. The flyer says offer ends 30/11/2020 but it’s not the case.

Nice GC account but holy, 2 years?!

So assuming that you buy something that is a great deal from Harveys that you can use the voucher on, then it is $34.83 a month for 80gb data over 2 years with no phone. And it's on Optus.

    • Yeah let's see if the other carriers will beat it.

    • Optus bad? Yeah, what im buting is a price match HN is doing with the cheapest site. JB didnt match (in fact, best they could do was $200 over)

      • Optus can be terrible depending where you live and where you go.

JB Deal was $59 per month with 80gb 12 month contract with $500 voucher just last month. That's $17.33 a month and with Telstra…

If you don't need loads of data, check out the Boost pre paid deals too.

        • tell me about it, oak park tower was off line for two weeks recently, at least the waived my fee, had to buy a telstra plan to keep working from home. This was on top of a month ago an upgrade was no interned for 4 days.

Errrrr sorry Gerald, but I'd be waiting for JayBee.

Jb is 1000 for $59 for 2 years effectively. And jb has better pricing than hn

    • +1

HN is price matching the cheapest site and JB isnt (for the product im buying)

      • As long as it's $360 cheaper than JB then you chose the right deal.

    • is this been offer today? or before?

    • +1

Where is the $1000 for $59? What deal is that?

      • They are saying $1000 is the theoretical deal if you signed up to the $500 12 month deal twice back to back. It's not something JB has actually offered

    • What deal?

  • +2

Got to know this deal 3 weeks ago but I still didn't post because I personally think 24 months contract is too much and Optus has a shit network coverage here in Perth.

JB or TGG Telstra is excellent with 12 months and $500 gift card.

  • 2 years is a no no

$1560 less $700 GC = $860 for 2 yrs of sim only plan

Boost has similar plans for $150-$180 per year. other maybe cheaper.

    I don't see a deal

    • 80GB/mth>>80GB/year

  • This plan is not the endless data plan that capped the speed right?

    • Aren’t they all now 1.5Mbps shaped?

  • I saw this at HN the other day but didn't post, there's also S20FE or Pixel 4a 5G ($799) I think for $0 upfront with this same offer.
    But I'm done with contracts.

Edit: here's current promotions available until 24/12
    There's also $65 12 month plan with $400 GC
Read the CIS before signing up

  • What happens to the gift card if you cancel the contract due to poor performance, reception etc?

    • You keep the change?

      • yup - kind-of.

Optus will push back and try to send you to store. Some customers have had the win of cancelling due to coverage and keeping, some are redirected to store to have them cancel and take back the GC. 50/50 depending who you get.

        • depending who you get

We can could in you (associated) 😂

          • @Steptoe: Haha, I wish. Optus' decision all the way.

  • Come on Gerry and Optus don’t insult us least beat jbhifi/hel$tra
I would of never gone on postpaid plan with hel$tra
But jbhifi changed that. Gerry must be jealous of Jaycee

  • Did optus amend their post paid data cap penalties? I thought the new penalty for going past the data cap was a reduction in speed to 12/1

Can I change to a different plan without incurring fees.

    • +1

No you can't, that is what contract means…

      • I know what comtract means. I have signed up with Telstra on in hi-fi contract but later was able to switch the plan I got from JB to another Telstra plan which had more data to similar amount of money. I was wondering if similar process is possible with Optus or not

        • +1

You are referring to the change from JB plan to the old 12 months Telstra plan…. or a few of the lucky ones here who manage to change from JB to new month to Month and get away with no ETC…..

Note the Telco are now very aware the switch trick so more difficult. Case of tragedy of common (or here refer to as ozbargained. To make that worse Optus are know to be strict. They generally will ask you to pay out the plan you are on before letting switch.
